I wish he could have had at least one of his wives to stay with him and strengthen his love. He needed someone to give him unconditional love to cure him of his drinking problems. My mother and I are proud we stood by our men until the end. My husband and my father had problems in their childhoods. To cure a person of relationship problems, Mom and I decided to give our guys unconditional love, and with God's help, it worked for them. I wish David had gotten a miracle also. At least it seems David was ready to go, when he died. My dad and my husband were cured of there mental illnesses when they died, because of my mom and me giving them unconditional love. It takes a lot of courage to do, but they were worth it. Mom and I are proud of what we did, with God's s help. I wish someone had stood by David and given him unconditional love also. Too bad he did not get it, because that is when he started drinking and going down-hill. Wasn't David worth it? Someone could have loved him enough to help him. They keep saying he had so many sad and lonely times, and it breaks my heart. Why ?
What a voice! Criminally underrated simply because the world wouldn't let him shake off the teen idol image. This man had so much more, the best,comparable to anyone.

As far as his voice... well, he never lost that golden, gorgeous tone, even till (nearly) the end. He's definitely in the "zone" singing this, then he snaps out of it for his bows during the ovation. He had it all.

I remember David singing this on the Reunion Thanksgiving show of My Three Sons & The Partridge Family in 1977. I taped the song on cassette and waited to finally have a decent copy of it on CD in the 90’s when it was released on an imported CD called The Best Of David Cassidy which included songs he recorded in the late 1970’s after His 3 RCA albums. It also included the 1979 single Hurt So Bad on Curb Record and Steely Dan’s Dirty Work.
