I'm not paid by the hour. I am paid by the trip. No matter how you work the system, drivers operate at a loss. Lyft is worth $5.65 BILLION, and Lyft drivers can't pay their bills.
Flat rate surges are BS too.... Start doing the math and you'll realize they do their damndest to get you to drive far. Once the ride is complete, or if you just ask the pax, you'll realize you're still getting about half the fare. Get a $20 surge and they'll try everything to give you rides they make double on still. It's probably better as you still see an actual number extra, but they can still flip that initial dollar amount. Because there is no rate card.
The purpose of adding percentages is to help the company get higher acceptance rates. It adds additional reasoning/calculation to distract the driver from making a monetary rather than an emotional decision.
Its all a scam. Its like Kohl’s - today the price is $30 for a item. Tomorrow, when they have a 30% off sale, the price is $33 dollar, but I get 30% off now. Same price, just games.

Alaska driver. Uber used to do 5-22 dollar surges during really busy times. Like super late night or snow storms. Lyft never did surges. Now Uber doesn’t do surges beyond the airport which seldom gets above 6 dollars. But Lyft is doing them and the highest I’ve seen recently is 11 dollars. Most surges from Lyft though are 1-3 dollars. And Lyft pays less. With the smaller surges it just evens out with Uber. Also when you get those surges on Lyft, that makes you reach the 70% earnings guarantee so you won’t get more money a few days after getting paid.
In my area we don't ever see these turbos or surge percentages i do however get ride challenges although they are normally out of achievement 90 to 110 rides for maybe $150 and the surges show as a dollar amount 1 to 5 bux most the time those disappear soon as you get close ...some last a few minutes before they change some I've clocked at less that a minute to change surges. It's overly frustrating I'm also a 4k rides driver and nearly perfect rating 👌 but that apparently gets you no kinda dedicated advantage
They give you what you should be making in the first place and then the next trip that’s available is definitely not worth it and they try to make you take it or they take it away.
I’m in the Denver market. I have not seen a surge, a challenge or a bonus for weeks. Maybe it’s because my AR is 49%. I have to bite the bullet and accept every ride for the next few days and get my AR back to near 90% and see will the pay get any better?
That's funny! I'm in lansing michigan, and I don't get anything like that! I don't even get "up front pricing or whatever they call it on uber! I'll have to send you a video of how the uber app is different in this state
Well, they're doing percentage bc there's a lot illegal that doesn't speak English and a lot of them are shirt bus as well. UBER AND LYFT definitely don't care about us drivers. I am a 6-plus year driver here in Vegas.
Dude if you're a driver in Vegas you have absolutely no reason to complain. I make $1500 a week working 40-50 hours a week. Last Saturday I made $740 and Sunday $610. If you can't make money in Vegas then you shouldn't be driving Uber. You sound like one of Sergio's minions

Thisisa new game.. Here is the thing with this surge here in San Antonio.. You go online before you get to the surge then you get a ride prior to reaching the surge.. . So you have to go into the surge and then turn online... . The turbos they had here in SA was ok..No problem with that when they offered but didn't off them much... .
Start a strike. Stop helping these evil corporations profit billions from your hard work. You have the platform to help the people and make a positive change.

You can't get past 20-22 dollars an hour here in SA...they make sure of it since they took away the turbo..

That percentage surge ruined my Wednesday. It is a rate cut because you can't maximize your earnings on shorter trips.

This was just for one day in my market. They went back to $1 the very next day.

They are NEVER testing anything to see if drivers like it. They are only testing to see if they can make more money for themselves.
