Having OCD and needing to wash hands very very often is also an issue for people. It is something I struggle with for periods of my life because of OCD. Covid really had my hands a mess for the first six months from washing constantly. I wish I would’ve known about you back then. Thanks for all your wonderful advice all the time. You’re so easy to trust, because you’re so straightforward about everything. I’m catching up on all your old videos though, I watch several a day now, and I’m learning so much from you. I love it!

If you're doing to wash your hands, do yourself a favour and use real soap made from fats vs those synthetic detergent like ones in a dispenser. Dryness is common with frequent hand washing, so use moisturizing products as much as possible. Other than petroleum, Some lotions have other occlusives inside, like beeswax or some kind of synthetic wax. Finally, natural unprocessed Shea butter is naturally thick and waxy, l like it a lot for traveling as well because unlike lotions, they can't possibly make a mess (I've had lotions explode on me when l retrieve them from baggage claim) and they don't count towards the liquid restrictions.

*Dyshidrotic Eczema* . I'm a massage therapist and professional house cleaner. My body went through many changes when I turned 50 and was going through menopause. I suffered for two years with dyshidrotic eczema before seeing a dermatologist. I was given a steroid shot to calm down the major flare and instructed to use loratadine allergy tablets daily and Aveeno Eczema Balm. I have also followed the AIP diet. I have occasional flares on hands and feet but nothing like the debilitating pain I suffered with years ago. I use nitrile gloves for cleaning tasks.

Thank you for this, and for persistently mentioning Nickel. Honestly, being diagnosed with dishydrotic hand eczema should not be a thing. Following up, I had to fight to get a patch test. My doctors just said it's something atopic. I was putting so much steroid cream on and it just got worse. I had to insist on the allergy test. Turns out I'm allergic to Nickel. Everyday things like handles, bag chains, furniture, coins, kitchen appliances are really big issue now, probably because it took so long to find the cause and my hands are severely sensitized. A flare will always look like the dishydrotic stuff. Besides wearing gloves, antihistamins, a low nickel diet (eating high nickel foods can worsen an existing eczema) and a nickel testing kit, to learn what's safe to touch and what's not, have been extremely helpful to speed up the healing process. It's nearly gone now. But some people have this for decades, it's not something anyone should have to deal with long-term, it makes me sad.

I agree with you on gloves, that and moisturizing consistently has helped me so much. Interestingly I always got rashes when harvesting beans in the garden. I never got why. I later read about beans containing high amounts of nickel. Probably the cause?

Man, I am still fighting to get a patch test and they just refuse me with no explanation "but your previous doctor said it's atopic dermatitis so it must be" they say without even looking at my skin. One time they gave me an order to take an allergy test so I thought "finally!" And when I arrived they performed a prick test, which THE SAME DOCTOR THAT ASKED FOR IT said "but prick test is for respiratory allergies. Still it is negative so you are not allergic to anything. We'll give you inmunosupresssants". It's been over 8 years and I still can't get a patch test performed To the point that I've given thought to those "at home" patch tests people do in tiktok...

Thank you, Dr. Dray. Your advice & instructions on hand & foot care 100% helpful. I’m now in the habit of washing & drying my hands, applying a balm, thin cotton gloves & nitrile gloves before I do dishes, housework or gardening. I also like to use balm & wear cotton gloves & socks in eve if I’m watching tv or a movie. It feels pampering & the results are so worth it! My hands were always sore, chapped & scratched up with cracked cuticles, but now my hands & feet feel soft & wonderful and look 10 years younger. I gave your advice to my younger son who had terrible hand dermatitis when he was a chef, due to latex allergy plus living with several roommates in a place that had an outdoor hot tub that was not properly maintained. Ugh. His poor hands looked like crab claws - swollen, itchy, red, rashy & very painful. Thank goodness he listened to me & I listen to you! Hugs 😍

I'm a massage therapist and I wash my hands a lot. Four years ago, because of the pandemic, we started using antibacterial wipes and soap. After a few months, we started using a cleaner that smells like baby powder to keep things sanitized. After two years of using both things, last year, I started getting itchy on my right hand and ashy. I've tried so many things to help, but nothing does. I stopped using the soap at work and started using Dr. Bonner's soap, since it's supposed to be easy on the skin, so I keep it in my massage holster, along with the oil I use, which is grapeseed oil. I know it's been a year since you posted this video, so I'm not sure if you'll see it in your notifications, but I did want you to know that I think it's one of the cleaners we use at work. In my late teens, I had to drop out of photography school, because I had hives from the developer. Anyway, I'm going to pack gloves with me next week at work and see if that helps when I clean the room between massages. Thank you for your videos. I think I need to binge watch yours. 🙏

That’s also a whole lot of no fun! I do have a nickel allergy and I think it started because my wedding ring probably had nickel as part of the white gold alloy. But I’ve no clue why it’s in my ears now.

Today I’m trying to comment on every eczema video I can find. I have eczema on my hands and in the last couple of days it has flared up to beyond what I could stand. Very itchy very oozing. When I got up this morning, I remember somebody talking about using plain yogurt for yeast infections. Not that eczema is yeast, but I went into my fridge this morning. Put some plain Greek yogurt all over my hand and fingers. Within 10 minutes the relief was unbelievable. The coolness alone with such a relief. I left it on for about 10 minutes then rinsed with cold water and went to work. Not once did it bother me. I did reapply this evening after doing dishes. It seemed aggravated. I hope this helps others. So many years of medication and suffering I have not ever had such a quick, helpful relief.

Currently managing my flare up, been dealing with it on and off. Some of the things that helped me: management: always wash my hands lightly with Mustela sindet atopic skin soap bar, use sensitive skin laundry detergent for towels and everything (double rinse cycle), hand washing time is short, light, luke warm water (hot or cold water not allowed). Flare up management: luke warm water with a pinch of dead sea salt - bath hands in it for 2 minutes, then apply emollient ointment on the wet hands (don’t dry them), then put plastic bags on hands and close for 10-15 minutes. You can also skip the last step with plastic bags. This procedure is best done before sleep so your hands can rest. Emollients I use are: Mustela, A Derma, Bioderma, Neutrogena (I live in Europe). I have realized that the dead sea salt skin preparation is the most important step, if you do it, it doesn’t really matter what emollient or ointment you use. Just make sure your dead salty water is not too concentrated (don’t put too much salt), as you won’t be rinsing your hands afterwards. It helped me, but everyone is different. And of course, keep avoiding all the triggers.

I am 40 and have been an auto mechanic for over 20 years and never got hand dermatitis/excema until during the Covid pandemic when there weren't any disposable gloves available. I had to wash my hands a lot more which lead to drying and cracking and now I have thickened patches that never seem to heal and I have tried everything including visits to two different dermatologists. It is negatively effecting my personal life as having rashes on my hands makes me self conscious as no one wants to be touched by gross hands. I wish there was an easy solution to this. The skin on our palms and the soles of our feet are very similar and are often affected by the same problems, and it sounds like the callouses are making it more difficult for you to rehydrate the skin. You might get some relief from a product containing urea which both exfoliates and moisturises. Eucerin has good urea products. Also have you tried O'Keeffe's Working Hands?

I have been experiencing dyshidrotic eczema for last 20 days. It's horrible! After trying different ointments and blood purifiers with little or no effect, yesterday I soaked 10 pieces of dried Indian Rennet, a handful of dried bitter apple skin, a handful of dried plums and a handful of tamarind in 4.5 glass water for 4 to 5 hours. I drank 2 big mugs of this water in the evening on empty stomach. It gave me unbearable colic pain and severe diarrhoea for 3 hours. I drank 2 big mugs of that water on empty stomach in the morning. It gave me bearable colic pain with a little diarrhea for only half an hour. 80 percent of blisters have died already. I hope to get rid of it in next two days. Actually, my brother had experienced it a few years ago in feet. He told me to drink fenugreek soaked in water overnight. As I had severe symptoms and my hands were badly itchy, burning, covered in blisters, I decided to take a stronger cure. It is working miraculously. I will share updates in a few days.

Yes, I have had hand eczema since I was a teenager. I saw a dermatologist who used to treat my eczema by x-raying my hands once a week...this was back in the late '70s! I never wore rings and was a high school student when it was at it's infancy stages. Any contact with weeds, plants, etc. made it so much worse. One dermatologist who initially saw me said I had "emotional problems". We never went back to him. It would go away, come back, etc. in routine fashion. I had the kind with the raised, oozing bumps that was itchy and I was so embarrassed. Now, as an older adult, it seems the hand eczema has gone completely away (do hormones play a role, as I believe that they do)!!! One side-effect of having had such horrible hand eczema is the loss of my fingerprints. Every time I've had to go get my fingerprints taken for this reason or that, I get told about it. It's a form of shaming blame as if I have intentionally gotten eczema! Women are put through the wringer by various professionals - I'm looking at the dorm who said I had "emotional problems" and every person who has taken my fingerprints! Thanks for sharing such useful information. For me, it's late, but not for others! :)

It came on while visiting my parents for a few weeks while my husband finished his tour in Iraq. Went to an urgent care, where they told my to wash as infrequently as possible (but I had to change diapers!) and apply an ointment that I should not get on the baby, who needed to be held constantly.
