  • Hi folks and welcome to my latest Full Build Video, the Takom Pz.kpfw.Ia in 1/16 scale.
    I hope you guys enjoy the video, I refined my weathering and hairspray chipping a lot during the process, trying some new things and taking a few risks ( why play it safe? ) and I hope you find the quality of the work up to my usual standard.
    In fact I'm working hard on eradicating some of the problems I face filming with a phone, like camera shake and positioning. I want to provide you with the best content I can.
    I now have a Patreon, find it here

    The kit was purchased from
    www.emodels.co.uk

    Nice job!!,...in my opinion, one mistake that most of the modelers make is to not to weather the decals, so, in contrast with the rest, they look brand new. Some washes on them or even cut some parts off, may give a more realistic effect.

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  3 года назад

      Thanks Javier thats a good point, when I get around to using masks things like that will be a lot easier to weather, just need to get in gear and find some

    • @xRepoUKx

      Just be careful not to use superglue with lead solder, a lot of people have found that a few years later they react together and destroy the model. I use aluminium or copper wire.

    Nice job. For wood handles, I have painted the handle with a light brown and then burnt sienna oil paint, left to dry for a while and then “dry brushed” off with a clean brush. It leaves a nice stain. For rusty exhaust, baking soda can be used for a nice effect, but care must be used because too much baking soda just builds up into a mess.

    That right there is a thing of beauty! Can't help thinking you just shrunk a real one though! Also, found out a couple of days ago that if you're really in a pinch for primer, humbrol enamel paint works a treat, goes down as well if not better than any primer I have used before over bare plastic, and doesn't scratch half as easily as the acrylic primers I have tried, and since I always leave primers to dry overnight, the fumes are the only real downside, but if you have a spray booth, that will deal with those for the most part anyway

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  4 года назад

    Great job, and; a good video. I'll say this, that Tres Semme hair spray sprays out just about like that over here in the US. Rather than use a name brand like that, go to a Walmart or a pound shop (think that's what it is in the UK), and buy the very cheapest you can find. The cheaper it is, the easier it is for the water to activate it. In other words not a good spray for hair, IS a good spray for modeling. Also, you can spray some out in the cap and then pour it over into an airbrush cup. Don't know if I would do that in a Harder & Steenbeck, but; a $20 Amazon special would be just the ticket. I'm all for getting the best result, using the least amount of money. I'm going to have to get one of those Panzer I's and see if I can find a 1/16 figure of some sort to stick in the hatch. Good show. Happy modeling, my friend!

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  4 года назад

      Thanks Stephen! I have an old sparmax that would do the job nicely I think. I'll pick up some cheap and nasty stuff and see if I can get a better activation many thanks for the tip.

I, for one, appreciate the warnings about ejector pin marks and removal, the tight fit of the fenders to the lower hull, etc. You show how these "glitches" are easily overcome. A fantastic build, James.....you certainly created a very realistic, beautifully weathered and worn model tank. It's always such a pleasure watching (and listening to) your builds so congratulations for another outstanding 45:11 minutes. Robert

    JUST ABSOLUTELY AMAZING the attention to detail is out of this world you have made that model so much more with all the detail you have added it's like a miniature of the real thing you half expect to see little men jump into the tank and drive it away as it looks that real well-done sir.
    Plus you have made the video interesting in the way you filmed it and overdubbing top marks have subscribed and liked.
