I love this cut - did you video that? I have a natural wave that works best with some layering and being wrapped in a towel for half an hour and then dried naturally if I use the right shampoo and conditioner - I get this style of casual wave without the use of heat.
@@heathernewby4023Exactly. I have curly hair and don't have to use heat styling either. I just let it airdry and in the end just blowdry at the roots with my head upside down to get some volume.
Except when he took over blow drying her hair. Biggest frustration going to a salon is their angle when they do your hair is different when you have to reach behind you and use a mirror to do it yourself. Glad for most of it she was doing it.
So important to do yourself. That alone makes a huge difference. The VAST majority of us are NOT Hair Professionals. So, it’s important to see what we would do ourselves.
Adoro i tuoi video , purtroppo il mio inglese scolastico non mi permette di comprendere gran parte di ciò che dici, sarebbe fantastico che fossero sottotitolati in italiano! Grazie comunque per le indicazioni utili
Finally!! A demonstration of how to get your hair to NOT stick flat to your scalp! From how to apply products, to how to dry the hair, to how to wave it with a hot tool. This works. But every detail is important! When Justin says, “Tilt your head this way when you…” you’ve got to follow the directions 100%.
Yes! ALL the components, ALL the things! Works because it's a strong duet of Dionna's styling actions and Justin's verbiage. Perfectly illustrates how to section a batch of hair to work on, the couple of different positions pre and post using the tool. The demonstration of the angle off the skull to begin with AND THEN changing the angle of the direction/force to another for the desired result (to include the ends) was sooooo helpful. One can see that the style/look is achieved rather quickly and with a touch of practice, likely a success for all! (Doesn't she look fantastic?!)
What resonated with me, and I’ve watched a lot of curling beach waves videos was when you said tilt your head, and the motion is pulling down! Not up, not out but down! I did it and it worked beautifully. Thank you and your wife so much.🎉❤❤❤
Justin and Dionna , thank you for showing how to style this look! I have this cut but struggled to get volume. These tips regarding how to apply the product and tilting your head when running the flat iron through were the missing links I needed. Dionna, this cut looks fabulous on you!
I love this video!…I learned a lot from all the tips!!!…Dionna is rocking this bob!!!…you gave her an excellent haircut and Danielle did an amazing job on the color!!!…thank you both for another helpful video, Justin!!!!…much love and appreciation for you both!!!!…💜💜💜💜💜💜
Love your videos 😁 a future video suggestion: fragrance free styling products that work well for those of us who are sensitive to all the fragrances they put in products
I have a very itchy scalp but no dandruff. I can't find any products that are totally fragrance free in the UK. I keep trying things but they never work. I'm using baby shampoo but can't find a conditioner.
YES!! I have genetic allergies to so many things including most fragrances. So bad that I have woke to having people doing CPR on me. Yeah it sucks. So I have to avoid most products bc of their ingredients. I’m sure I’m not the norm but fragrance free would be great! The video was great and love her hair.
Great tutorial - again. You are a gifted teacher. I have learned much from you and have been able (sometimes) to adapt your instructions to my hair. My hair is thick, coarse, & curly. A stylist in my area refers to me as the woman with "hella-hair". Yes, I have a hell of a lot of hair & it has always been a challenge, primarily because too few stylists have even a modicum of knowledge of curly, thick hair. The last stylist that butchered my hair said, "your hair will never do that" when I showed her a photo of what I wanted. I knew differently. I referred to your instructional videos to cut my hair and it turned out great - and saved me $200. All this said, please feature curly haired women who want a chic, age-appropriate style. Product suggestions welcome! Thank you.
Dionna’s gorgeous and I love this new sassy style on her! I liked the long hair too, she’s lucky she’s got such great hair to work with and a great “coach”! 💕
You make learning to take care of our hair much easier to understand. we don't need full on technical terns, we need to easily figure it out how this is accomplished. I live in the humid south with fine hair. Really a pain to control my outcome. If I don't leave the house it's OK. go outside? hair fails. I don't want to use so many products that I feel like I have a helmet on, so I keep searching... your uncomplicted how to instructions are wonderful. thanks for your patience with us.
I loved this follow up to your beautiful bride’s haircut! I used your techniques after washing my hair today and am loving it. QUESTION. Or. REQUEST. PLEASE. Can you do a follow up on how to proceed in the following days? More flat iron? Any products? BIG THANKS to both of you!!!
Brilliant! I'm 66 and my hair is just below shoulder length, very wavy and the wave goes to the right on both sides, which is a bit awkward. Its also very fine now I'm older and can be really frizzy. During Covid I had to cut my own hair - I didn't think to look on here for help - and, while I didn't make a bad job of the top and sides, the back was really not so good because I couldn't see it. Please don't ask about the scissors I used, it would upset you! Eventually, when it was well below shoulder length, I made it back to my salon for my regular stylist to trim it for me but, while it looked ok when I left there, although shorter than I'd wanted, after I washed it it simply didn't look right. I was pretty miserable with it (crowning glory and all that) for until it had grown out, but was reluctant to risk a repeat. Then, last year, as I was rewatching you both in one of your flat iron videos, I spotted a tutorial for a butterfly cut in the side panel and, after watching it, thought I might as well give it try. I'd bought proper scissors and clips by then, so went and got some bands and cut it next day. I loved the result, and have used that technique to keep it trimmed since then. I used your tips to style and straighten it and, although I didn't get the flat iron use quite right the first couple of times, and I don't always use it, it came with a bit of practice and I can now honestly say I have never been happier with my hair. I may never go to a salon again; if I want to go shorter I'll just do a shorter butterfly and style it with your help. Then if it's right it's on me. I love that you show your wife styling her hair, because it can be tricky doing it yourself and it's so useful to see how she does it and to have you there to explain what she's doing and why, and why moving your head and hair in certain directions make such a difference. Thank you both. Love you guys.
I have learned so much from you. I have fine hair cut in a bob. Your styling tips have made a huge difference. I love my stylist and told her about you. I just sent her the video of you cutting your wife's bob. Thanks for being so generous with your expertise.
Just want to let you know that I follow your videos and took the plunge from medium/long hair to a pixie. I look 10 years younger and everyone loves it. Thanks so much for your great advice!

Want to thank you for these tips. Followed them & used my Chi straightener/dryer/curler. Hair came out the best ever!! Finally I know the correct way to use my products to get volume & beachy waves 👏👏
Thanks so much for this!! Bought the flat iron you’re using here and used “too much” product in my hair and gosh darn if I didn’t get waves in my fine, straight hair! Hair sprayed the heck out of it (Kenra 25) and it’s actually HELD, even in the wind!

Thank you to both of you for the tips and tricks on getting volume and curl into your hair. I'm one to get out of the shower blot the dripping water out and then wrapping my hair in a microfiber hair towel. Keep Smiling 😊
Love the new cut on Dionna! She’s a beautiful and vibrant woman! I can so relate to her feelings of wanting to cut her hair in the previous video. I’d love to see how you cut the back specifically. I'm totally going to follow your tips for applying a voluminizing product, because I've never been a big fan of mousse. Maybe I haven't used enough or applied it properly.
THANK YOU! I have natural curl at the bottom of my hair but my top layer and top falls flat - I had KNOW IDEA how to get the beachy wave look you and your wife have just demonstrated. That is exactly what I need to try. I am unhappy with the lob I have - I was a pixie girl for 30 yrs but after covid everyone said wear it long - I find my hair drags me down. I have smoothed it and feel it looks abit more sophisticated and not like a helmet - when I let it dry on its own it looks ok but not beachy waves so I have used a curling iron but what your wife did with the flat iron is what I am looking for. Thanks loads I am going to try this with my flat iron. My stylist does not show ME how to maintain my hair.
Love this style, she looks great! I am looking for a new style but have thicker hair that she does and I have a shorter forehead. I'm still looking for the right style and length for me. I do loves this on her! Thanks for the curling wave tips!
Oh I just love this video! It really helps w one person styling and the other explaining. I’m going to go try this in like 20min after my coffee! Thank you so much for sharing guys!
Wow! Your wife’s haircut took 10 years off of her. I love this style on her. You are a lucky man (& she’s pretty lucky herself, too) 😉 Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video and thanks for showing how to style your hair yourself. If I open a styling video and see a prof stylist styling smb's hair, I always switch it off 'cause it does not show real picture.
Awesome! I need this because when I try to do it I get those ends that are sticking out. I guess I’m not pulling it all the way down. I have that flat iron too so I’m going to do this.
Thanks so much for this video. I love it that you had your wife do it. I really like her hair color and highlights. Can you tell me what color, levels and technique you used with her hair? I'm going for something very similar with my new stylist. Thanks so much!!
Your wife is beautiful. I so appreciate the way you did this tutorial. I can see the ways I am doing things wrong and am excited to try the styling changes tomorrow to see if it works better. Thank you both so much!
Absolutely love your wife's new hair cut and style! What are your thoughts about the Dyson Airwrap? Have you used it and do you think a similar style could be created with the Airwrap?
Hello Justin, I found you through Summer and Gabi's collab and I'm very happy I subscribed when I had the chance when your haircut work is fantastic that I definitely will replicate your client's haircut from the collab on my mom and your haircuts are raw 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is great! I have curly hair and don't like to wear it curly, but I'd like it to have soft waves. Can you show how to style curly hair into soft waves like this video?😊🙏
I saw you for first time today and I love all your information! You are a great teacher, but I have my wavy hair for years now. At least once a year I go to a hair dresser and cut it at least to the showers and let her blow dry my hair, but not use a flat iron (I don’t want to loose my curls). Believe me, I look like an egg painted with a Sharpie with straight hair. I don’t know how to take care of my hair, just wash, rinse, condition, and a leave in. Make a bun almost in my forehead and when it is dry I loose it and have perfect waves (for my taste). How do I get read of frizzy? Do you have any suggestions on curly hair? Thanks a lot!
I have so much trouble doing the back because I have a lot of neck and shoulder pain due to past accidents and surgeries. I love this look so much yet it causes me pain to do the back.
Great video. I happen to be considering going shorter. I love longer hair. My hair is speaking to me. And it’s saying, get rid of some this bulk. I’ve got an apt with my stylist in a couple weeks. I’m going to share this video with her. I want her to see how you cut the ends for laying, fullness, volume. Hope she’s receptive to my sharing. Question: what product are you using for volume? Thank you. I wish you were in my geography location. I’d be making an appointment for certain.
Justin and Dionna, this was so helpful. My bob is like this so these hints will help me to style mine the same way. I don't have frizz and have volume so would using just a styling cream be enough? Good job,Dionne!
Thanks so much! Helped me a lot. Next video can we have more light in the background? Since you are both in black it is often hard to see all that is going on with the hair. Thank you 😻
Enjoy these styling videos, how you explain each step. Subscribed 🎉 the only critique is the light from window and the 2 of you have black tops and her dark hair made it difficult to see at some points. Thanks for sharing.
This is such a good and important demonstration. I have one question though though what about leaving conditioner? I’ve always heard that that’s a necessary step and I do mine before I put in my detangler/heat protectant. I also am not using a volumizing product because I have thick naturally wavy hair. That said by the second day it really loses volume and I wonder if I’m missing an important aspect. So my question is do you think conditioner is important for mature hair that is heat styled? And do I need a volumizing product if I have relatively thick naturally wavy/curly hair?

Thank you for giving the ends bend. I hate the trend of mid shaft only curl, flat roots, then straight ends. Love this!
Me too. I have shoulder length hair as well and never liked that trend. I prefer a look, where the hair looks naturally curly or wavy.

Dionna, I love it. Are you able to still make a ponytail? What are some other ways you can wear it in case it is a day you don't shampoo?
She can. That was one of her requests before Justin cut it.
She’s SO beautiful! Thanks for the tips.
I love the look, it's so full looking!
What is a good Volumizing product that isn’t sticky?
I bought that brush - and I LOVE it!
Well that’s timely! This is the cut I just got and I need more curl! ❤
More great information. I will attempt to execute what you have shown. I hope my results are good
Ooooooh, haircut and beach waves looks so good!
Thanks for sharing. I’m following your adventures on Instagram with Dionna. Love her highlights- also the new light, bright painting of the home!
I love that! Yes, the dilemma of picking out the "right" white was more of a challenge than we thought it would be!
Thanks so much! Helped me a lot. Next video can we have more light in the background? Since you are both in black it is often hard to see all that is going on with the hair. Thank you 😻
So pretty! Thanks for the hair drying tutorial and the wave!!
Enjoy these styling videos, how you explain each step. Subscribed 🎉 the only critique is the light from window and the 2 of you have black tops and her dark hair made it difficult to see at some points. Thanks for sharing.
Love your new cut! Looks fabulous on you.
You both did a great job on a beautiful hair style.
love her hair!!
Its a great look on her for sure!
This style is perfect for Dionna! Great how to video.
Can you show us how to do those “effortless“ waves using something with less heat like the revlon dryer brush or classic non-heat curlers? 😊
Love Dionna’s haircut!
