no! still get a good amount of airflow and I haven't heard of anyone having issues with this one that have it installed!

BMW put the oil cooler like this intentionally knowing people would hit road debris resulting in damage. Any smart engineer would have put this behind the front clip with the radiator, trans cooler and power steering cooler. Engine oil cooler damage results in the the most costly repair when road debris smash into "New Engine"!!!!!
Those guards do F all to stop most rocks from going through them… the holes are too big. Ask M2 owners with guards like that how well they work 😂
How long have you got the car now? I ordered the guard before I took delivery of my car. That should be the first mod before you do anything else.

1:30 That’s actually good to know bc I recently had a problem where I was driving in my M3 and I felt something beneath me explode. After getting help, it turns out that I need to replace the oil cooler and the motor. Looks like a guard for that thing will come in handy 😅
@@JAegisflash This design was meant to bring $$$$ to BMW. No Engineer in their right mind would ever design mounting a oil cooler this way. The whole design is a catastrophe and serves no cooling effort mounted low and under the engine of all places. Aerodynamics would tell you that airflow goes passed it faster then it could actually cool. You have the cooler trapped beneath the engine and the entire engine underbelly is covered by BPC (Black Plastic Crap). Air passes over the fins underneath but that hardly does anything as the air is being split and directed to other places. There's a reason American and Japanese Automotive engineers design there vehicle to have Trans, power steering, radiator and intercooler behind the front clips of there vehicles, its because aerodynamics would tell you that air directed at a vehicle's front end hits the front clip first and then splits to the undercarriage, to the left and right sides and over the hood and roof. But air flow hits the front clip first. The airflow going to the undercarriage is not equivalent to the airflow splitting the to the sides and hiod/roof of the vehicle. Why do you think mid engine vehicles have air diversions that pop up to take air flow passing over the roof?? 1. The air is cooler, 2. There's more airflow from there the undercarriage.
