    I had my daughter 14 years ago. I tried to Breastfeed her in the hospital for the first time. She was a super tiny baby at 5 pounds 3 oz. When we were trying she stopped breathing on me and turned purple. I wish there were more resources available to help new mothers back than. I don’t think I would have been so quick to give up. I ended up pumping for 7 months. I’m proud of myself for making it that far. I’m so happy that you made it two years with the boys. Love to you from a mom of a way older child.

    Watching you and your confidence with your twins inspired me to start taking my son places more! My husband works 60+ hour weeks, so it’s just me and baby most days. I was intimidated as a first time Mom to go and do things, but you really gave me a dose of bravery! Now me and my bub have been to parks, museums, restaurants, and my life is so much more fulfilled now with my 6 month old.

    Hello, I breastfed my son for 18 months and now we are waiting for twin sisters. This is my first video watching someone talking about twin breastfeeding and I need to give big thank to you to introduce me to it. It is brave, educational and super positive video! Hope I will also have luck this time around 🤞🏻

      If you can get help from breastfeeding trained professionals, do it. It may be challenging at the beginning and they may have tips that you haven't though about ( like a different size cup for your pump)

    I could’ve have written this myself! This is more or less what I did with my twins.. in terms of schedules, pumping (or not pumping), positions, night feeds, weaning (we went just past 5yrs). I can’t stress enough how much I love that you talk about on demand feeding, especially in the beginning, as well as a nutrient dense diet and hydration (vs relying on supplements). I’m and IBCLC now and I wish all my patients would just trust in this. My twins are 10 so I love seeing your content! I miss the toddler years!

    The breastmilk supply is such a big thing for new mommas and you handled it PERFECTLY (using that word loosely of course!).
    Keeping up the supply must have a consistent and as comfortable a start as possible, which is a lot, but it is completely possible, even for moms who have been told that they won't be able to breastfeed!!!

  • @irynak778
    @irynak778 10 месяцев назад +6

    Love this video :) I’m a new mom of twins too on my breastfeeding journey. I can relate to everything you said about supply. As to tandem breastfeeding it’s really hard for me as I had a c section and it is more comfy to breastfeed them one by one so far.

    Ahh such an eye-opening video! Thank you Morgan, I had my baby in Aug 2023 and only breastfed for 3 weeks, i believe solely because I didn't do enough research, mix feeding etc, will definitely go in with a stronger mental state for baby no 2. Thank you once again :)

  • @Sammiejammie521
    @Sammiejammie521 10 месяцев назад +2

    Of course my favorite breastfeeding video would come out after we have been exclusively breastfeeding for seven months 😂 I definitely feel your mindset of “it will be the end of the world” is what got you through. That first month is one of the most challenging times of my life and if I didn’t have that mindset I know I would have caved. It is pure survival in my opinion. Having said that, the crazy schedules you see online also put an unrealistic expectation on you too. Tuning into your babies happens slowly. I hope all new moms trust themselves and their bodies so they can have a positive experience with this ♥️♥️ Thank you for being so positive but yet just stating that at the end of the day it comes down to just getting through it. PS as a mom with only one baby, pumping is a HUGE factor in why I was able to keep a supply. With baby #2 I will pump immediately after giving birth. Also, what Morgan said, there are no secret snacks. Good nutrition and possibly some supplements will give your body the best chance. Good Organic, sprouted oatmeal was the only thing that consistently helped. I used to use Quaker Oats and I swear the exact day I switched to One Degree oats, my supply turned on ♥️ Good luck moms, it’s so worth it!

    I think from some of the questions that some may be confused about colustum. If the baby breastfeeds in the begining, they have gotten the colostrum which our body only produces for the first five days. It is a thicker milk that many dr's call "liquid gold" and for women who are not going to breastfeed the nurses will suggest to pump fr the first couple of days to be able to give the baby that first milk which is so good for babies.

    • @kariannkirk
      @kariannkirk 10 месяцев назад

      I think this was more so for the twin mom part. If twins are born early and need to be in the NICU and can’t latch on, if you have stored colostrum that can be given to them. I’ve been researching a little since Im 29 weeks with twins.

    One point I'd like to make about the holding positions when nursing two at a time is that being a first-time Mom the breasts are more "perky" and firm so it's easier to nurse two on the stomach while laying down and in other similar positions.
    The other is the flatter postpartum belly makes it so much easier to hold the babies in front and out in public and while sitting with them on the lap.
    Bigger mommas have to adjust in totally different ways and can still make it work nursing two babies at once.

    My baby girl is 2 months old now. As a first time mom, I was so determined to breastfeed my child. I took the classes and watched all available online material to prepare myself. However, I wish people talked about the pain of breastfeeding. No one shared how painful it would be. You talk about pushing through that pain and mentally blacking out to get through it. What I went through, I felt like such a bad mom because I began to resent my baby for the pain I felt when she would latch incorrectly. I began dreading feeding times. Trying to correct her latch led to a frustrating cycle. I felt like I was doing it wrong to be in so much pain. And I felt like I was letting her down because of the inefficient feeds. Despite the resources available, I couldn’t push myself through it because it was harming my bonding with my child and the way I perceived feeding her. I gave up breastfeeding rather quickly. This decision led to such a negative self talk and mom guilt. This was the only negative part of my post partum experience. I felt like if I couldn’t breastfeed, that I was failing my child. Fast forward, bottle formula feeding actually allowed me to enjoy feeding my daughter and begin bonding with her. She’s healthy and growing well. My experience was unfortunately nothing like I pictured

    • @morgankunzie
      @morgankunzie  10 месяцев назад +3

      I feel like this happens to so many new moms. The pain is awful and I remember dreading feeds too because my babies were not latching properly. I wish there was more easily accessible information on how to recognize tongue ties/latching your baby properly.🥺🫶 you did not fail her and it sounds like it turned into a beautiful journey for you both, but in a different directions! 💙

    I'm 13 months into breastfeeding my twin boys and I was really surprised how different our experience was. I'm still using a pillow and a football hold (but they are little guys in the 6th percentile). Useful to hear how weaning went, I have no idea when we'll do that, breastfeeding still feels comfortable for all of us.

    You're awesome! It might not be for everyone, but having examples is so important. Society is not overly supportive of BF in general and it seems like when it comes to multiples it's even worse and there is just an expectation you will use formula. We need to do a better job supporting women properly so they can make a real choice, not just get funnelled away from BF automatically.
