All the bullying, intimidation, violence over the past 25 years to pushing people away that love him, losing Ronnie,Roxy, Peggy, Ben etc... tbh I can't help but feel sorry for him, hope they do this sort of lonely/depression storyline well Steve Mcfadden is a phenomenal actor

This is one of the rarest moments where Phil truly realised what it's like to feel empty. It pains me to see the hardest man reduced to nothingness like that. And all because of the fact that he doesn't want to admit that he is no longer who he used to be, the "King of London". Maybe this could lead to a new storyline when he would suffer from depression.
Hopefully not .. Phil’s character is resilient.

Phil is still one my favourite Characters on EE. Me seeing him cry makes me wanna cry. Steve Mcfadden is fantastic actress. He ruled the 90s and early 2000's and still gives that Hardman image even though he's 65 years old. I just hope he can turn his life around and get his family back or what family his got left. Steve's drunk acting is absolutely phenomenal best drunk acting I ever seen.

yeah for some reason people just never seem to have any sort of sympathy for Ian he could literally be Raped on screen and forced to watch his children burn alive in front of him and I think audiences would just laugh tbh.

They set this storyline in motion a few weeks back. Phil broke to tears quicker than i expected. I was expecting him to explode in some fashion before breaking. He has been an amazing character played incredibly well for decades. This is an interesting route, loneliness and depression storyline which could lead him back to the bottle. I'm still on the fence about Billy's brother he seems too charming. Getting together with Sharon could lead to a happy ending for Phil and Sharon after some dark story where Phil needs to step up again even if it is for the last time

The family feels incomplete without Ben
He ties it all together. Lexi, Callum & Jay are just hanging around as background characters. Callum should be looking into the lot of them. Lexi is every bit his daughter.
I hope they delve into Phils lonliness and maybe fall into depression. Would be interesting to see for the character.
Make him depressed like what happened to Arthur flower and they help him get better and he won’t get angry ever again that would be an very interesting story

I can see where this is going.... ive been there its something that hits you harder than driving into any wall.
DEPRESSION ive been in this situation more times than i can count sat crying, staring at pictures of family who arent around anymore, friends you wish you could talk to but you feel you cant so you stay quiet.

Eric was the problem. Peggy could have done more, but it was really Eric that caused all the damage to both him and Grant.
The last few episodes have been so contrived. It has been contrived so that the audience sympathise with some geriatric absent father nuisance returning into Billy's life like he has some God given right to return and any challenge or criticism from Phil is treated like the ramblings of some unhinged reactionary when it's quite an advisable scepticism.
In the last 18 months the writers have done a very good job of fleshing out Phil's character to be far more sympathetic and a sort of wise elder helping to guide others. The writers have now decided to trash that good progress by introducing three pretty transparent duplicates of other characters. In order to elevate their tedious introduction, the writers felt compelled trash Phil and all of his recent development

You can feel sorry for a person like that, but this is what happens when you push around family like bullies in a school and treat them like their beneath levels above you,
Phil did this all by himself, perhaps maybe if over the years he stopped acting more like a hardman and be more of a civil person across the square towards other people, and a better family man around his relatives - maybe he would have had his family around him. Guess all the things he did over the years to other people have come back as karma - that whole stuff with Keanu is a prime example, especially after that whole affair with Sharon blew up (stopping him from seeing his daughter at the beginning, trying to have him killed etc).
Interesting to see how it all goes moving forward...
Agreed.. this is all karma for all the bullying and intimidation pand all the violence he inflicted on people... coming back to haunt him. pushed everyone away that loves him while also losing family to death e.g Ronnie, Roxy and Peggy.

Phil is a product of his upbringing and the toxix masculinity thrust upon him by Eric. He has worked hard to not be like hia father but didnt realise that Eric didnt just bully Phil physically but also mentally. Its why Phil is always pushing family away because he cant see the effect his dad had on him but also he doesnt feel good enough
