Excellent, very nice variety of former JNR era trains! I can definitely say i enjoyed many trainspotters in action, it makes me feel proud of what we do! My favorite moments were at 2,40, the 681 red "Snow Rabbit" and at 6,20, the LED sign and departure of the refurbished 485 EMU! Both scenes were professionally recorded and they give me a warm feeling of night train travel, a feeling of nostalgia, travelling home.
Here is a holy site for rail fan. Because of border and junction station, we can see various train here, for example, JNR era trains, earlier JR trains, freight trains, fastest limited express trains, freight trains... If I capture all types of trains coming here, this movie must become very long one. The trains you favored in this movie will have disappeared after 5 months. 681 Snow Rabbit transfer to JR WEST. Limited express train HOKUETSU was decided to be abolished. The railway situation at this station changes drastically.

もうこの光景が見られないなんて寂しいです。
数年前まで、直江津は信越・北陸各線の優等列車が数多く集まる駅でしたね。はくたかは新幹線に愛称が引き継がれましたがその他の多くは過去のものになってしまいましたね。
がらりと変わりましたね。
第三セクター化されてから直江津駅も寂しくなりましたね…つい2週間前くらいにいったら特急がほとんどなく…寂しい感じでした。
北陸新幹線ができる前に戻りたい

2:37のはくたかは、「681系2000番台」とだけ書かれていますが、681系2000番台だけじゃなくて、681系2000番台の6両と683系8000番台の3両の9両ですね。
制作当時北越急行ホームページで公開されていた編成運用計画一覧をもとに表記したつもりですが誤っていましたか。
実際に2:37のはくたか20号を見てみると、先程記載したように681系2000番台6両基本編成と683系8000番台3両付属編成の9両ですよ。681系2000番台の3両付属編成ならば、最後尾となっている9号車の顔は、連結のできない非貫通型の顔になりますよ。
なるほど、そういう見分け方があるのですね。

An excellent snapshot of colorful Japanese railroading. The 681series sound just like New York's R-142 and R-160 type subway cars!
They may use same operation instruments such as inverter. Also, the location of light is similar.
