Thank you for watching! The temperature was written in the instructions for the silica gel. I just double checked and it actually says 250, but I’ve been doing 270. Seems like I misread in the beginning😅, but it’s been fine.
Great video! I find that the colors fade especially light colors after storing them in a containers after a few days :( even after 2-3 weeks being in silica sand. Is there any way to prevent that?
Hello! Thank you so much for watching! Moisture may have gotten back into flowers after it has been dried. I store my dried flowers in an airtight container with some silica gel in it.
Hi, I have trouble drying a whole rose. I believe its dry but when I put it into resin they have sometimes lost their colour as I believe they hadnt dried enough. How do you know when they are dry and ready please? Also, do you take out the central petals of the rose before putting it in resin? Thankyou xx
Hello! Full, large roses I leave in silica gel for about 4 weeks. I don’t take out the petals in the center, but you can if you want to. If you remove some when drying, it could help with the drying process. Are the petals like going translucent in the resin or becoming a different shade of the same color or are the flowers changing to a brownish color?
The flowers should not be wet at all. I just dried the flowers how I got them. If they are wet, you’d want to make sure the flowers are dried. As in no liquid on them, or anything going into the silica gel. But there’s no need to purposely wet the flowers and dry them. You don’t want any liquid in the silica gel.
From my experience, it does not. It is exposed to air as I am covering the flowers. It will absorb the moisture from the air if you leave it out, but you can always recharge it to use again. The silica gel that I use is linked in the description if you want to try that out. If your silica gel solidifies when it comes in contact with air, you should contact the manufacturer of the product for further instructions or ask the source of the information to assist you.
A bag of this Activa silica is ~2.27kg so around double that. These flowers are on the flatter side though so the amount of silica needed really depends on your flowers and your bin.
I watched so many videos and you’re the first person to specify the “low temp” as 270F lol thank you!

Do you have a current flower list of drying times for flowers you’ve used ?
Thank you xx

: Do I need to wet the whole flower then dry them as usual and cut what I want and then put it into gel?

I heard silica gel solidifies once it comes in contact with air and then its useless....can you pl elaborate and tell what to do?

?

Can I dry Daffodils and which way?
You can dry daffodils. If you want to keep the 3D form and color, silica gel is the way to go. You can also press them with a flower press.
Do you have to cut off the stem completely
You can certainly dry them with the stems. I don't use the stems so I cut them off.
