Considering that they only have one person in the band who can play an instrument, they don't sound bad. I don't think the sound is bad either, but it bothers me that they mostly sing about themselves and don't come close to living up to the moral standards they preach. Singing about truthfulness and being in prison for cowardice somehow don't go together.
Yeeehah I have been there at the HockenheimRing, 14.6.14 Immediately goosebumps, the Onkelz Fans are the biggest family in the music business 😅 They are called "Neffen und Nichten" (nephews and nieces) There have been about 130k fans, each of the 4 days. You cannot imagine, we drove on the Autobahn near Bonn/Cologne and had about 250 km to go to Mannheim. Didn't take long, we were driving in a colony of uncountable cars, every car was filled with bearded guys (as People of rock often use looking like) as closer we came to Mannheim as more joined us. Then we had to walk about 7 or 8 km to the racecourse, believe me it was like a pilgrimage, everyone of that 130k had the same target that day. Everyone was sharing his beers or even food, everyone was singing on the way, at least when we arrived we have been more than 200 people in "our group" from the parking place faaaar away. In 2005 was the last concert in Eastern Germany at Lausitzring, i just started to hear their music at the age of 15/16 (I'm born in *86), you can imagine how i felt in 2005, cause i didn't get a card for concert than. That was sad, and then, 9 years later, it was unbelievable for me, of course we were better prepared for getting some cards and this time we were successful. I appreciate that you guys made this video, the Onkelz have more than 200 songs, hard, soft, party, sadness, listening to their songs helped me in so many times and different situations, it's not just a band, it's an attitude for me. Thank you Kevin, Stephan, Gonzo and Pee.
I believe it`s difficult to understand our fascination with the Onkelz if you are not a native german speaker. While their music is really really good, without understanding the lyrics u miss 50% of the experience. I first heard them back in the 80`s and I still love them!
Another song I can recommend " auf gute Freunde " with english subtitels. Their lyrics are always very important, the band has gone through difficult times, which has shaped their lyrics a lot
I can recommend Stolz (fast and Ska version), Was kann ich denn dafür, Singen und Tanzen, Stunde des Siegers und everything else from the albums Der nette Mann and Böse Menschen böse Lieder! Oi oi oi!!
That was their reunion concert. When the first trailer dropped early 2014 it was huge. 10 years....and they came back. They decided to split up the Band after a promo-concert for virgin records in 2004. Singer Kevin Russel, was a poli-tox drug addict for over 20 years. In 2004 they had a concert and ALL of the Virgin board-members had been invited. However Kevin was so on drugs, he stumbled over cables, forgot lines and at one point he went of stage to have a pee and he never came back. At that point (keeping him in check for about 15 years at this point) the others said enough. So in 2005 with one last concert, it was over. After that Kevins downfall began, he got even more into drugs and caused a car crash that killed people. He was send to prison and rehab and also had to undergo surgory that removed 30% of his brain. And after all this...they had a meeting "to see, if the spark is still there" They had not spoken to each other for about 10 year. But when they met, it was like they never had a falling out and they knew "shit, nothing has changed. This could work". Kevin finally clean, "for the first time in his life" so he said So in 2014 they came back and it was epic. While 2014 was a really good concert. 2015 was the best Kevin we had seen in over 20 years. To paraphrase a statement from their 2005 documentary, to fit today... "On their first gig, a max of 20 people came. At "Böhse fürs Leben 2015" there have been 400.000"

In Germany this band is as popular as Rammstein or any other big international band like AC/DC or Metallica. That is a very controversial (to put it nicely) band. In their early years, they were connected to the N*zi scene in Germany and some of their songs are forbidden because of xenophobic lyrics. They since disassociated themselves from that but a huge part of their fan base is still rooted there. It is not uncommon to see someone doing the n*zi salute at their concerts.

Or the "Hass-tler"? or "Schöne neue welt"? . the onkelz have done more against the right than all the hobby punk bands and other specialists like herbert grönemeyer put together. No, because then they wouldn't write this shit. you'd better inform yourselves before you tell absolute bullshit. Or didn't you make any mistakes when you were 17-18? yes, because that's exactly when these 3 songs were written that people keep accusing you of. by the way, they were released when they were still a purely punk band and played at JUZ bockenheim. Anyone who is so completely clueless shouldn't tell anyone about the horse. That's just stupid. And it shows how resistant to advice some people are to still be pulling out this crap after 40 years. And unlike rammstein, the onklez don't need to set up a first row of willing young girls for the after show party

@@peerverser5185 I don't want to be rude, but I do not value your opinion. I'm a far left progressive, you are a liberals. I disagree politically with you as much as I do with right wingers. We will never be on the same side. I preach empathy, rehabilitation, and acceptance. You preach what you want. I do not care.
