samsung U28E590 with a G1 Gaming 980 Ti. 1440 just doesn't seem to translate very well on my 4k monitor. I have a 1080p 144hz monitor from Acer that looks better in native than my Samsung 4k does in anything besides 2160p. So I either run 4k//60hz//low; or 1080p//120-144hz//ultra
I'm thinking of getting a 500€ 4k Monitor as I'm looking for 32inch and for that size and 500€ all your displays seem to either look worse than standard 4k ones in terms of color contrast etx. If you buy 144hz ones (VA). So im thinking maybe i can get my 1070 to run 4k on medium
I bought a Samsung U28H750 quantum dot monitor recently. It looks amazing at 1080p, 1440p and of course 4K. I am running an MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio.
I came across this video as I am considering moving to a 4k monitor and this is just the kind of information I was looking for. I was very sad to find out only moments after watching this video that Kev had passed. I just wanted to say a big thank you to Kev's family for keeping the channel around. Even though he has moved on he has helped me make my decision and I do now feel comfortable knowing that i can safely go back to 1440p with little to no issue when i try out my 4k monitor. Thank you so much Kev.
the actual question should be "2K gaming running on a 4K monitor vs 2K gaming running on a 2k monitor"??? is there any difference in the visual quality if the monitors are of lets say similar quality??? like two monitors side by side one is 4k running a game on 2k resolution with same graphics settings and the other is a 2k monitor and the game is running on native 2k resolution with same graphics settings... its a simple question and i just cant find a clear answer to that...
This comment is for Kev's family and friends. I want to thank you for leaving this channel up as Kev's insights, honest opinions and reviews have helped me in making buying decisions for years. He's also helped with topics like this video simply explaining some options and as a gamer himself what he personally does/did to get the most out of the experience. He is sorely missed and I am truly sorry for your loss and again, thank you...
Hey thanks Mjr Burn - I really like stumbling across comments like this as I descend through nostalgia... It is difficult to watch my brother's videos now, but I love that people are still engaging and getting insights from them (or debating eachother - something he would love haha). Take care of yourself :)
@@adam_film I also watched Kevin's videos for years and it always makes me smile when I look up a topic and see one of his videos as a top recommendation (in this case I was searching for how 1080p and 1440p would look on a 4k monitor). Tech youtube just isn't the same without your brother and Teddy. All the best, Adam.
I think the best resolutions are intermediate resolutions like 1620p or 1800p. 1800p with Image Sharpening looks almost the same as 4K to me but has a 20%+ performance gain.
4k monitor vs 1440p, question lets say same size, same specs, would a 4k monitor run at 1440p have the same video quality as its 1440p counter part? are thier cons? is its worst? my question is having best of both worlds, i would like to have a 4k for video quality and have the option to game at 1440p if the game needs to be, i would just like to make sure a 4k monitor run at 1440p would not be worst in terms of video quality then just getting a 1440p monitor
@@mono7234 the only reason to go with 4K is if your gaming on a tv like I do and I can tell you it 1440p look garbage it’s so hard to read the text and it looks just blurry
What I would like to know is can you run lower resolution configurations that allow for fullscreen images ? For example I have a 3440 x 1440 monitor, but I can drop to 2560 x 1080 and get fullscreen utilization. If I go 2560 x 1440 I get letter-boxing. What resolution would enable this on a 4k monitor ?
The resolution has to be 21 to 9 (3/7 simplified) meaning the vertical resolution (1080 or 1440) is 9/21 of the horizontal resolution (2560 or 3440) for example 700x300, 2100x900
Whole point of watching this video is to make sure whether a 4k@60 hz monitor allows me to play at higher refresh rate of 120 hz with 1440p resolution? Thank bro
Exactly this. I have Ghost Recon Wildlands on both Xbox one X and PC, and it runs at 3200 x1800p on the Xbox, and still looks pretty sharp on my 4K OLED. That's as low as I'll go on a 4k monitor personally. If that's not enough in conjunction with medium quality settings, then it's off to Microcenter for me lol!
Old thread but PPI (pixel density) I have to imagine is going to be much greater on a 4K monitor for desk use than a monitor of similar size that is 1440P or 1080P and people have had to lower game resolution in the past to accomodate performance needs and suffered those losses. By comparison I do not think the losses will be as great on 4K as far as the pixel to pixel mapping goes because of the greater PPI, and also as far as the number of pixels rendered for detail, going to "only" 1440 instead of 4K is not nearly the loss going to say only 1080P is on a 1440 display. I just ordered 3x Samsung Neo G8's and while I should have no issue running 4K on a single screen, part of my setup is 3x monitor gaming and I am going to assume that for some games I will be better setting the resolution to 1440 rather than 2160 and take the resolution hit instead of turning down the game quality to run at such insane total resolutions.
2:33 i get its hard to sum up on the spot but i think i managed to sum it up just from reading that reddit post you shared. Basically, is a "1440p native monitor" the same as running 1440p on a 4K monitor. would 1440p look worse or better on it? Well....To truly get 1440p on a 4k monitor the same as 1440p on a 1440p monitor, you'd have to not do any scaling. That would leave a big black box around your monitor screen matching the resolution. This is irrespective of the screen size. If you WAS to have scaling so it filled the whole screen it would then have to compute anti-aliasing to ''fill the gaps'' So that's ~4.6 million pixels of your screen that need to be identical or 'average' to the one next to it in order to achieve the full screen experience. This leaves the picture seemingly blurrier than if you'd used a 1440p monitor instead which doesn't have those extra pixels to fill. So native is better.
As someone who now owns a 4K monitor with a RTX 3070. I can confirm this. It is VERY game depended. Some games look fine some look worse regarding their settings. I do notice a drop in crisp when going 1440p. But, honestly...if you`re running around and shooting and playing and doing stuff. You will not notice this. ONly when you stand still and start looking at every individual leaf or grass then yes...you will see a difference between 2K and 4K
Hi I will be building a similar pc, have you tried the Integer Scaling option by reducing the resolution to 1080p and then let 3070 scale it up perfectly to 4k? How's the crispness and loss of details then compared to 1440p?
Yeah I was looking into 4K so I can see tanks better from greater distances in War Thunder. Got lucky in the Newegg Shuffle and acquired an MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 Ti. If a 3070 can push 4K decently then I’m pretty excited to see what mine is capable of. I’m also looking to EKWB the card (already have front and back blocks) so I can OC the extra fps out.
I did upscaling multiple times on PC games, and on EMU, it was always the same as a medium jump. Even on vids shows it's not a big jump and pics show this too. I watched vids on my 4K TV and the jump isn't big like I said it's med. People even on forums say the jump isn't that big in games, PC, or console. Text is where it shows a big difference from 1440 to 4k, Unoptimised games struggle to run native 4K even with monster cards like a 3080-4090. That problem doesn't always happen with 1440p. I'm thinking of switching back to 1440. I have been using a 4K screen since last year. 1440 I had used for like 6 year's 4k has been frustration with unoptimized/demanding games even using high settings, stutter/dropped fps
Gtx 1080 ti on a LG 55 inch CX. 1440p with Nvidia sharpening puts games very close to its 4k image. I can run some games in 4K but if they drop at anytime below 60 fps I go back to 1440p . 1440p on a 4K panel with some sharpening added will be pretty damn close to 4k. Close enough that some one looking at it would not know what resolution of the 2 you have it on.
I have the Lgc1 55 in tv. When i game in 2k vs 4k i see no difference because i sit far enough away. I stick with 2k because i get much more fps and i get to use ray tracing as well. I also use the 3080 10gb and the 5800x3d.
If you can't reach mad frames on 4k there's something called windowed mode :P makes the game run in a window at whatever res u want. And you can pop a stream on the side. Or in the case of some games, a companion app in an emulator or the picture of a map or something. And then you have the best of both worlds.
@@annahenrietta9517 The 4k display is limited by hardware to only run at 4k 60fps, no matter if the game is in windowed mode. There are 4k displays out there that run higher but they are very expensive
I've noticed with my xbox1. Ive ran it on 4k and it looks bad still. I switched my settings so im running 1080 at 120hz at 8bit and what a difference it made in performance. 4k is here but we need a lot of work with it yet.
I think it is more accurate of on what screen size and the distant your eyes is from the monitor. 1080p actually really fine in 24 inch and lower in a 3 foot distant or around meter from the monitor .
Correct me if I am wrong but I think unused pixels never look that great. I recently upgraded from an rather old LG full HD display to an gigabyte qhd display with high refresh rate. And I feel like full HD videos and picture sources look better on 1080p displays. That being said where you can use the higher resolution and higher refresh rate the pictures look much better.
My personal middle ground is 4K on less graphically demanding games if I can push past 60fps Like Yakuza 0 and 1440p for more graphically demanding games like RDR 2
ive been playing RDR2 at 1440p on my 4k for sake of performance but I can find that on my 28 screen with a little higher sharpness and vivid pixel turned up i cant really tell the difference.. Its really good still. Though on my 65inch TV the pixen density isnt there and 1440p looks shit on it lol
Is there a difference in image quality when you play at 1440p on a 1440p monitor compared to 1440p on a 4k monitor? Same monitor size for example 27inch
If you have a 4K monitor but need to lower the resolutions, wouldn't dropping down to 1080P be better than 1440P since 1080P is equally 1/4th pixels of 4K.
Does this mean 1080p on 4K monitor will not got blurry picture right ? This is very important question because I want to purchase Thinkpad X1 Extreme 1050 TI Max-Q with 4K panel but I want to play game on 1080p only but I fear it will got blurry screen :(
@@linxianer12 it depends. Some scales work better than others. My buddy plays 1080p games on his 4k screen and has no issues. 1440p would be blurry though
@Johnfuse That is not true at all tho. Cuz interpolation does stretch the image from the game from a 4th of the 4k screen to the whole monitor if your image is set to 1080p. The image you get from games here is often very blurry. (yes I do have a 4K monitor and tried a lot with it) It actually depends on the game and the monitor tho. Some games have bad upscaling and it looks mad ugly while some other games look quite crispy on 1080p. To this date screens cannot just interpolate 1 pixel onto 4 pixels (which is called direct scaling or integer scaling) and use bilinear scaling to stretch the image onto the full screen if the set resolution is lower.
Thank you for this review. I’m looking at getting the Samsung Odyssey G9 4K ultra wide. I’m going to be building my new PC (3080 Ti, i9-12900kf on 32 gb for DDR5) and was just looking for a good reason to justify taking the leap up to 4K over the fairly new standard of 1440p.
Here's the best way to put it. I want to buy up for future hardware and gaming, but play down for the time being. In other words, I want to buy a 4K monitor, but play it in 2K until the next nVidia "3" series comes out. I have a 2080ti but need to run 3 gaming monitors (for flight sim purposes). 3 4K monitors is a no-go with 2080ti and flight sim. SO, for the time being I'll run my two side monitors at 2K (their native resolution), and my main middle screen at 4K if possible, but it's likely I will need to go down below 4K down to 1440p. Until I put another 2080ti and use NWLINK or wait for the new nVidia cards to come out later this year. Any suggestions are welcomed!!!!
This was really helpful. Despite the age of this video, it seems like you were far ahead of the times because lot of people are asking the same question today including myself. I am building a PC that would be compatible with next gen 3080ti (?) Nvidia gpu. So apart from the gpu in my PC build, everything else is future proof (Ryzen 9, x570 mobo, 360R AIO) i think. For the time being, I am going with the cheapest RTX 2070 super available (non blower) with a view to replace it with next gen GPU. Now I am sure that 2070 Super is a good card in its own right but its not best suitable for 4K gaming. However, given that I plan to upgrade the gpu in near future, I have opted for mid range 4K monitor - Acer XB273k. I am yet to complete the PC built and cant wait to see how 2070 Super works in 4K monitor and if I could downscale it to 1440p for a better FPS performance without too much loss in the pixel quality. Thanks for clearly mentioning the pros and cons of playing 1440p on 4k monitor. I bought 4k because I think I wont need an upgrade for several years to come (plus its a 144hz).
...But wouldn't a game played in 1080p on a 4k monitor look better than a 1440p converted to a 4k monitor due to scaling? e.g. 1 pixel mapped onto 4 vs the 'blurring' of 4 pixels into 9?
An LCD is comprised of 3 colour pixels. A 4k monitor has '4k' of these pixel sets does it not? If sending a panel less than that data how does it display? @@just181
Giovanni P. I don’t know all the theory behind it😂I had a 4k monitor myself and 1080p look god awful, 1440p looks much much better. TV theoretically interpolates better than monitor, yet 1440p still look better than 1080p on tv
I don't know if 1440p is still available for 4K-native monitors. I mean, since a few updates ago on Radeon Software anyway, games suddenly started showing HIGHER-than-native resolutions available, but for me, with a 1080p monitor, it only shows 1620p and 2160p, because those are 1.5x and 2x 1080p, where 1440p is actually 2x 720p. I don't know if that kind of scaling will be the same going DOWN, but it might just be 1620p below 2160p nowadays. That's a little heavier to run than 1440p, but not very different. I honestly wish 1620p was a standard for monitors, because 4K is a bit overkill, both for viewing and running, at this size and this point in time. I mean, I have an RX 5700, which is from like late 2019, and while sure it's very mid-range, it struggles with 1620p or even 1440p (with scaling) in some of the heavier games. - Forget about 4K, that's not gonna happen on a GPU like this. It just grinds to a halt.
I've got a GTX 1080 (not the TI-version).. Really want a 4k monitor, the LG-OLED, but thinking it might not be worth it. If I'm going to need to dial down the graphics settings and prob resolution as well, well then it's kinda pointless getting a better monitor.
Wouldn’t the game have a lot more blurry by using a higher resolution monitor and maintaining your resolution you always play at? For example would 1080p still look 1080p on a 1440p monitor or would it look worse than keeping the 1080p monitor?
Hey there, Thanks for your Video. I can actually give a you another real world reason why to get a 4k monitor with a mid tier GPU. I know it because it is actually my reason. Photo Editing My rig is mainly focused on photo editing. Thats why i want the 4k screen. And almost every somewhat modern gpu is able to run windows at 4k60. For me Gaming is on priority 2 or 3. I am fine with 1080p Medium to High. But of course, despite not having it as focus, I dont want it to look like a dumpster fire. But thats actually, i think, a pretty common reason why people ask this. They want 4k screens for their creation tasks and they game from time to time. I think it is important to remember that PCs are build for many purposes, not just gaming. Very good Video Mate. You helped me out a lot.
Thanks I just got a 4K\60 monitor and was wondering how to get the best looks with 60 fps @4K. I have a Sapphire Vega 64 reference model and it's nothing like RUclipsrs describe. It's not loud nor does it run hot. I get 4K\50 in Crysis 3 on very high. I'll try it on high.
Hello, I'm new to 4k tech. On a 4k/60, my understanding is that it maxes out at 60fps on 4k (w/o some sort of hack) but can the monitor refresh at higher fps if you drop your resolution to say 1080p or is your monitor stuck at a 60fps ceiling (w/o some sort of hack)?
@@CharlesBBBIf the monitor is 60 hertz then that's what it will display but the card will still send it faster than 60 fps. if you get a 4k 144hz monitor then whichever resolution you tried the display on it will still be able to reach if the card is powerful enough 144fps or better I hope that answers your question.
@Philipp Wiesner I know this is kind of an old post but by "locked" do you mean that the fps does not increase above 30fps even when at lower resolutions (such as 1080p)??

So I have recently bought a RTX 2080ti and want to now invest in the new Asus Rog Swift 4k/144 Gsync monitor. For upcoming games like Division 2, I want to play in 4K with all the bells and whistles but for games like Apex legends, I want to play at 1440p to maintain that high fps. My question is would that be possible and if so how "bad" would apex look in comparison to my current native 1440p monitor?? Would it look fuzzy or washed out??
bro keep both monitors and get monitor arms that allow you to switch them around. Thats what im about to do. I have 4k monitor but want more FPS on games like ARK and COD, thus I am getting a 240hz 1440p monitor and will use it as my main when playing those games that need some extra FPS
What about 1080p gaming on a 4K monitor? The scale factor is 2 so that’s optimal isn’t it? Image quality of course should be worse but I mean it will work?
But what about the fact that a 4k screen needs 2.25 pixels to display one 1440p pixel? Doesn't it mess with the picture make it blurry or something? That inexact scaling. 8k to 1440p is easy - it's 9 whole pixels forming 1 fat pixel, too bad 8k is ludicrously expensive...

The other - slightly insane - option is literally run the game natively at 1440p inside your 4K monitor, dealing with black bars in the process. Although I fully admit this is probably one to try out for novelty purposes rather than as a regular configuration.
@@ownubadboy10That's not what he's saying though. He's talking if you run 1440p natively on a 4k monitor. Natively being the key word. Normally the monitor would stretch the 1440p image to fit the 4k screen.

G-sync monitors have a premium cost associated with them, while Freesync doesn't. You can use Freesync with The RTX series of cards, so that could widen your options and possibly save you some money. Freesync monitors with LFC are rumored to deliver the best syncing results. Also if you've not yet tried VA or IPS panels you're probably in for a treat. Try making a custom resolution of 2560x1440 @ 60Hz or, if that fails, 2560x1440 @ 50Hz (not a typo). If neither work, then try setting your GPU to output in 4:2:2 chroma via the GPU control panel and try the custom resolution thing again for 1440p at both 60Hz and 50Hz. If THAT still does work, then set the GPU to output in 4:2:0 chroma and try the custom resolution process for 1440p @ 60Hz and/or 50Hz one last time. If none of that works, then the issue is likely that the TV doesn't know how to handle refresh rates greater than 30Hz at resolutions greater than 1080p regardless of video bandwidth (1440p @ 60Hz with 4:2:0 chroma requires less bandwidth than even 1080p @ 60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma).

That's the whole point
the actual question should be "2K gaming running on a 4K monitor vs 2K gaming running on a 2k monitor"??? is there any difference in the visual quality if the monitors are of lets say similar quality??? like two monitors side by side one is 4k running a game on 2k resolution with same graphics settings and the other is a 2k monitor and the game is running on native 2k resolution with same graphics settings... its a simple question and i just cant find a clear answer to that...
Following the 4K logic 1080p is "2K" and it depends on the monitor's scaling hardware, you wont see a difference half of the time
Im looking for the same answer to this question. All information I've found is very vague.

I think the best resolutions are intermediate resolutions like 1620p or 1800p. 1800p with Image Sharpening looks almost the same as 4K to me but has a 20%+ performance gain.
4k monitor vs 1440p, question
lets say same size, same specs, would a 4k monitor run at 1440p have the same video quality as its 1440p counter part? are thier cons? is its worst? my question is having best of both worlds, i would like to have a 4k for video quality and have the option to game at 1440p if the game needs to be, i would just like to make sure a 4k monitor run at 1440p would not be worst in terms of video quality then just getting a 1440p monitor

Thank bro
Why not use other in the middle resolutions? You can run as 2880x1620 or 3200x1800 with a great gain over 4K with a boost over 4k.
That´s the best way to play games in lower resolutions than native UHD("4k") Monitor. Just have to set´m up in Nvidia or AMD panel.
Seems people only know 1440p and native 4k lol
Text is where it shows a big difference from 1440 to 4k,
Unoptimised games struggle to run native 4K even with monster cards like a 3080-4090. That problem doesn't always happen with 1440p. I'm thinking of switching back to 1440. I have been using a 4K screen since last year.
1440 I had used for like 6 year's
4k has been frustration with unoptimized/demanding games even using high settings, stutter/dropped fps
The issue is frame rate when it comes to 4k
@Jonathan Cruz69 yes anymore

Lowering the resolution on a console makes no difference in performance
I think it is more accurate of on what screen size and the distant your eyes is from the monitor. 1080p actually really fine in 24 inch and lower in a 3 foot distant or around meter from the monitor .
1440p or 1800p on my 4K TV, lots of older games run at native 4k locked 60fps. Games still look great
@Darzo I know this is kind of an old post but by "locked" do you mean that the fps does not increase above 60fps even when at lower resolutions??
Correct me if I am wrong but I think unused pixels never look that great. I recently upgraded from an rather old LG full HD display to an gigabyte qhd display with high refresh rate. And I feel like full HD videos and picture sources look better on 1080p displays. That being said where you can use the higher resolution and higher refresh rate the pictures look much better.
Rip Kevin
My personal middle ground is 4K on less graphically demanding games if I can push past 60fps Like Yakuza 0 and 1440p for more graphically demanding games like RDR 2
ive been playing RDR2 at 1440p on my 4k for sake of performance but I can find that on my 28 screen with a little higher sharpness and vivid pixel turned up i cant really tell the difference.. Its really good still. Though on my 65inch TV the pixen density isnt there and 1440p looks shit on it lol
Not to mention that you could customise the resolution in Nvidia control panel, tried 1800p and I could barely spot the difference!
@@linxianer12 I'm playing Donna 4k TV and 1080 looks like trash.
@Johnfuse That is not true at all tho. Cuz interpolation does stretch the image from the game from a 4th of the 4k screen to the whole monitor if your image is set to 1080p. The image you get from games here is often very blurry. (yes I do have a 4K monitor and tried a lot with it)
It actually depends on the game and the monitor tho.
@Rando hey I think if you are buying for gaming , would suggest to get monitor and not TV. There are tons of good monitor available for 1440p.
is it my eyes? i don't see any changes in this video and running 4k... none of those setting changed what i seen on the screen
...But wouldn't a game played in 1080p on a 4k monitor look better than a 1440p converted to a 4k monitor due to scaling? e.g. 1 pixel mapped onto 4 vs the 'blurring' of 4 pixels into 9?

@@just181 That's true. I have 4k monitor and 1080p gaming is impossible for me, picture looks like blurry crap, but 1440p looks more then ok
4K just seems like a waste of perfectly good frames for a minimal fidelity boost... I'd take 1440p with 144 fps vs 4K with 60, any day.
This video has helped me decide and I've just found out about this channel and Kevin. Thank you to his family and to Kevin. Much love! chur
It will always look better on the native resolution. This means 1440p looks best on 1440p monitor, etc
I'm going to jump from 1080p to 4k 240hz when it comes out. I'll skip 1440p 240hz.
Same. I'll upgrade my GTX1070 and setup only when 4k@120hz became a reallity.
Hey there,
Thanks for your Video. I can actually give a you another real world reason why to get a 4k monitor with a mid tier GPU.
I know it because it is actually my reason.
Photo Editing
My rig is mainly focused on photo editing.
I'll try it on high.

yes its a compatible resolution.

Thank you, i might not have known you, but with this video u helped me a lot, i hope u are ok wherever u are now, being the heavens or with us, thank you, hope the family is doing ok
I love to hear and read how people feel when it concerns image. The crispiness is nice in 4k, but even with a video game quad res looks really organic. I was editing on a 5k monitor for a while when I realized that I hated shooting in 4 or 5k. both shooting in and editing in quad HD retains the look that I want. Thank you for the video.
Quad HD?
@@Larimuss 1440p = quad HD
@@SAFFY7411 oh right lol, so many marketing terms created for resolutions 😂 I’ve never heard that one before.
I didn't look at when this video was made and then you said a powerful GPU like the 1080ti and I saw it was 5 years old lol.
I've found it depends on the monitor. Some scale better than others.
The other - slightly insane - option is literally run the game natively at 1440p inside your 4K monitor, dealing with black bars in the process.
Although I fully admit this is probably one to try out for novelty purposes rather than as a regular configuration.
I don't think you know how monitors work
@@ownubadboy10 What do mean? You can do that.
@@pdk-qx9yg You don't get black bars if you play a game in 1440p on a 4k monitor
@@ownubadboy10That's not what he's saying though. He's talking if you run 1440p natively on a 4k monitor. Natively being the key word. Normally the monitor would stretch the 1440p image to fit the 4k screen.
I Love my Acer Predator X34 1440p monitor at 120hz. I also have an ultra wide LG that is 2560x1080p that monitor looks good but not as good as the X34 I also have a triple monitor with 3 25 inch ASUS monitors that are 1080p and I Love it as well but I really think the Ultrawide monitors will replace most triple monitor set ups and the 1440p looks SO Good
but dont u think ihd monitor ll give u more clarity??
AA off… hmm I wonder how this looks on a 65” TV and what kind of FPS you get, I’m gonna try it. RTX4070ti there is definitely some sacrifices in 4k
Dude, Kevin, you're in a better place now. Rest in peace.
This dude passed away?? Shit
@@McJerkins yeah he did. I think that was late october or early november. I dont remeber.
He's not in a better place, he's dead. Stop lying to yourself just because you are scared.
I think that it was useless to buy 4K monitor in 2018-2019. But today in 2024 with DLSS and DLSS fran generations you have many opportunities to play in 4K.
This was really useful mate. I was holding off a 4k monitor, I have 2080ti, but now i'm pulling the trigger!
Thanks a lot for the info!
I got a 3060 ti, just got a 4k, can't wait . I already run a sweet 1440p screen.
I have a beast pc and only a 32 inch 1080p @144hz monitor looking for a 2k or 4k with g sync 1ms 3.0 or 3.1 ips or TN panel dont care much for gaming only

IPS in particular look much better than TN panels, though not quite as fast.
Miss u man.
Dude you know why people come here and watching your video? Many people have ps4 and good gpu which runs 1440p perfectly. They have 1440p monitor, but ps4 does not support 1440p. And they thinking, what if I buy 4k tv and also play my pc games on it, but my GPU cannot run 4k properly, but it can run 1440p, intreresting how 1440p will look on 4 k tv comparing to native 1440p. Would it be blurry or not. That's what people need to know. They don't care about your suggestions about graphic settings etc. They need to see if 1440p on 4k tv is BLURRY OR NOT comparing to native 1440p. Fuck. make that video pls.
Dude he can't he's dead.

I want to buy 2 1440p monitors. I have a dual screen set up and when i need to play console i disconnect one of the screens and use that. So since console is 1080p will that still look good on a 1440p monitor?
I saw a friend playing Fortnite on my 4k 49" TV on his PS4 and it looked fine for me, I didn't saw any difference.
My name chris and I still got my partner in crime.
4K monitor. 1440p looks good not as good as a native monitor. 4k monitor at 1080p. dont even bother it looks absolute shit. hopefully this saves you all a bit of time.
Can anyone tell me if there is a noticeable difference between a 27 inch 4k monitor and a 27 inch 1440p monitor while programming or editing some text?
I'm a dev and I find the sweet spot for me is 4k at 125% zoom.
@@chasemyaccord thanks for the reply
You helped me a lot. I mean A LOT with this video.
Can anyone help? I have a 4k tv and I can get 1080p and 4k with 60hz but 1440p can only get 30hz! I can run some games at 4k but most new games 1440p is better for framerate but 30hz doesn't cut it... is the problem b3cause it's a tv and I need a monitor?
I’m running a RTX 3080 with ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQ 4k Ultra. Works fine
Thanks for the breakdown.
you would be better off running your game at exactly half the resolution of 4k and scaling it. Rather than scalling 1440p up to 4k.
That’s completely wrong. Try to get yourself a 4k monitor and you will know that’s not how things work
32" inch samsung tv with great PPI 1080p, true blacks and colors from haven 1070-ti, and all for a budget high end gaming, dunno 4k and VR still are a gimmic for me, you ll pay ton of money and nothing is guaranteed
Nah I think 4k is amazing on a TV and monitor, I think HDR is alot of crap though
I like 1440p@100fps+
I want move from 4K to 1440p, 4K unstable for gaming. My spec i9 9900K, 32GB 3600, RTX 2080 Ti and played on SSD Evo 860.
I do not back again to 4K, only less games running smooth 60 fps on 4K. 1440p 144Hz better than 4K monitor
Even with those specs on your insane PC your not getting good enough fps at 4k?

Nah man, in my opinion turning off the Lara Croft Ponytail high-end rendering simulation impacts the game a lot. You can't just turn off the most majestic ponytail in video game history like that.
For the remaining of the video, very informative thank you.

Will switching from 4k to 2k on my 60hz monitor enable it to run at 75hz ??
refresh frequency (hz) is monitor dependent, not resolution.. to change your Hz you need to buy a new monitor, unless you have a overclock option in your monitor, but that is often not the case
@@angelobobo7993 I once did increase the refresh rate of my monitor from 60 to 75hz. I did this by creating custom resolution through nVidia control panel. I was wondering if same is possible with this monitor.
@@prasadjadhav3906 i have done the same for my 120hz monitor, made a custom 240hz... but it was still running at 120hz... its just what ur gpu will allow u to do, after all it never determines ur monitors capabilities
