    This technique worked perfectly for my situation. Literally 10+ years ago, a prized white concert shirt got accidentally mixed in with a load of colors and came out pretty damn pink. Not neon but bright pink. I was sure it was essentially ruined but finally found out about the Rit color remover. Followed the above advice and the shirt is bright white again! Thanks so much!

    It's important to remember that this dye remover will not remove indigo dye. If you have yarn or fabric that includes indigo even as just one component of the color (such as green or purple), the dye remover take out everything but the indigo and you'll probably end up with blue. I crocheted a top using size 3 cotton in a mossy green, then decided I didn't like the color. So, I used the dye remover and was surprised to end up with a light blue top. Love it, but didn't expect it!

      This is an important note! Color remover will not work on jeans (or anything else with indigo dye) That is not to say that all blue garments will not work, just the ones with indigo dye.

    I came here after I bought a plain tan-colored shirt. It's way too close to my skin color and now I want to lighten it to a cream/white, bc I regret not buying it in white now hahaha.
    Thanks so much for the demo on how to use it! I'm so glad that Rit Color remover is cheap :)
    My shirt is 95% cotton so I think it should dye pretty good? Also, I'm just nervous if the thread seams will stay the original tan color. But I guess it's better than looking topless haha

    The reason denim pants do not work well is if you will look at the ingredients in the pants it's usually 60% or less cotton nowadays. The stuff that's the other percent will not work well on die removal or, adding dye.

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  3 года назад +1

      This product will take all of the color out of your jacket, including the original color. You can then go back and re dye the jacket if that's the route you take. Otherwise, RIT is actually semi permanent, so the more the fabric is washed, the faster the dye will fade.

One pair had three red dye spots, one the size of a fingernail, which stand out badly. I followed advice to bleach and boil in hopes the bluing would fade. After thoroughly rinsing, I also tried soaking in ammonia. Nothing has worked. The three red spots haven't budged and the bluing didn't even fade. I don't know what else to do. I need these and can't reorder because they are now out of stock.

      I would use a new packet, and new water for every 2 lbs of fabric. You will find that as color is coming out of clothes, it is actually leeching out into the water, so I would try to use fresh water as often as possible, especially if the clothes are different colors.

      Hi Alice! This product would absolutely remove the gray. As far as the print, it depends on what that actually is, it could not affect it, but if the print is just dyed on it will likely remove that as well. If it in vinyl, it would probably be fine.

      @@onlinefabricstore Thanks for your input! The sweater is actually 50% cotton and 50% polyester. Will those materials together still remove the gray if it's not 100% cotton?

      It depends on what material your garment is made out of. I would check the tags. Color remover works on cotton, linen, silk, wool, ramie, rayon and nylon.

      You would have to completely remove the color and then re-dye it.

      No, this will fully take the color out. We do sell fast fade powder, you can find it here - www.onlinefabricstore.net/rit-fast-fade-powder-1-lb-.htm

    if i already partially bleached a garment, will this turn it all into one solid white, or will it have discolored spots?

    • @onlinefabricstore

      It is worth a shot, but unfortunately bleach does damage the fibers in your fabric so it is worth a shot! So the results may not be consistent, but it is absolutely worth a shot!

      Unfortunately, it probably will not work on spandex.. It is always worth a shot, but color remover does not usually work on spandex.

    Gonna try this out. I recently dyed 3 outfits entirely pink to go see Barbie in so now I’m stuck with an entirely bubblegum pink outfit. We’ll see.

      I kinda want to try removing the colors from an outfit worth of clothes and then dye them all the same color. Not bubblegum for me, either lol. But I want outfits that are more color matched (I know dye can take differently to different fabrics, so I’m not expecting uniform.)
      Did you try the color remover? Did you dye your stuff again after that?

    Hello! I am in the planning stages of a project where the end product has a long hanfu that fades to grey on the sleeves and skirt. I am inexperienced with dye so I’m not sure if it’d be best to get light material and dye everything to black, achieving the grey parts with the ombre dip dye method, or if getting black material and fading the sleeves and lower portion with the color remover would be feasible/easier. What would you suggest? (I have not decided on what fabric to use yet since I realized dying would be a factor.)

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  2 года назад

      I would probably get a lighter colored material and dip dye the sleeves and skirt portion. It's going to be easier than you think. You got this. Here is our ombre tutorial to get you started - ruclips.net/video/9PpIkXBpgMo/видео.html

    Hi, I have this black striped sweater. I love the off-shoulder look it has but the black is too dark compared to the wardrobe I want to work towards. I know from other responses this works on nylon and rayon, which is partly what my sweater is made of, but what about silk?

    I have a maroon and white striped bathing suit I want to dye a light teal color . The material is 85% nylon and 15% spandex . Will this work for me? So that I can dye it the teal color or would dying it without removing the color work? I figured since it has a lot of maroon in it that I should try and lighten it before I dye it. Any tips?
