    Thank you so much for this video! I just bought the new Tangle Teezer from Walmart and it made a huge difference in my braidout, but the necessity of small sections elongated my styling significantly. I was just telling myself that I wish there was a larger Tangle Teezer with longer bristles and your number one brush is exactly what I was thinking of! I just ordered a similar one I found on Amazon and will use it to refresh my hair this weekend. Thanks again, Rae!

    The KISS line of detangling brushes doesn't get enough love. I have tried about 8 different brands and types of detangling brushes and KISS by far out-performs them all! Plus: they are affordable, most being under $10 per brush. I mostly use the KISS EZ Grip detangler bc it's a nice weight--not too heavy not too light, flexible duo-length bristles, and a handle that's super easy to hold and doesn't hurt my hand. They have all different types of detangler brushes and one may be just what you're looking for.

    • @NaturalRaeRae
      @NaturalRaeRae  28 дней назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your perspective. I have tried a KISS brush and I didn't care for it at all. It wasn't the ez grip detangler, it reminded me more of the unbrush, but didn't work as well. I looked up the ez grip detangler and it looks much like the original tangle teaser, which I wasn't a fan of either. I will do more research and see if there is one that piques my interests, but right now I enjoy the Curl Keeper Kids brush. Thanks for tuning in and informing us about the KISS brushes. 💛

    • @AhsokaJackson
      @AhsokaJackson 6 месяцев назад

      @@NaturalRaeRaeI was always wondering about that myself-I actually got the Leatherwood myself a good while ago, and it was VERY stiff and it definitely snagged hard when it would find a tangle.
      And I had tried detangling with it some vertically, horizontally, and eventually did it most often at a diagonal angle, which seemed a decent enough compromise between the two.
      But more recently I came across a video explaining that you basically focus on using it fully vertically for the detangling part, and then switch to horizontal afterwards. When I did that, it actually _did_ finally flex like I had seen in the videos. So it seems that with the way it's designed, you really do need to get your hair separated a certain way by the vertical strokes to get in the right alignment for the horizontal?
      Still not my favorite brush, admittedly, but I did have more success with it then, and it does have firm, long teeth that can penetrate through the hair and reach the scalp, and help you check that your hair is truly detangled. I've found that to be important, because sometimes, especially having very thick hair, you'll find that a brush only reaches sort of the top/shallow levels of your hair and it seems detangled but actually has tangling behind that one smooth layer. And tangles at or near the scalp are some of the worst to deal with in my experience, so I'm very cautious to check for those. 😅
      I should mention another issue I have with the Felicia Leatherwood (and this is why I tended to use it horizontally or at an angle to begin with, actually) is that I find sometimes a section of hair will wrap around one of the individual combs/columns that the brush comprises. That always scares the daylights out of me, because if I don't carefully manage to unwind and untangle that, it would be a lot of hair to lose at once. This isn't just a few strands; it's more like a finger-width across. To be very clear, I stop immediately when that happens and I've not ever had to cut it out, thank God Almighty. But the mini-heart attack it always gives me when that happens makes me less keen on using that brush! Lol. And it definitely could be a true problem if you aren't able to unwrap your hair from around it as needed.
      Most recently I've bought the Unbrush, which has a very similar design to the top and second choices in your video. The jury is still out because I'm not sure yet about things like the tiny pieces of breakage I'm seeing (which may just be from knots coming out as needed, especially since my ends are in rough shape and have a lot of single-strand knots), plus sometimes more widely spaced bristles will miss tangles. BUT so far I'm honestly really liking it? I don't have to part my hair into such small sections like I normally would (which itself comes with problems) and I feel like I'm both able to detangle much faster AND that I'm losing much less hair overall-it doesn't seem to snag my curl pattern nearly as much as the Tangle Teezer does. And it doesn't snag hard and pull my scalp the way stiff combs have been doing. It's always a tricky balance between finding stuff that is soft enough to not snag excessively, firm enough to actually untangle the knots rather than bend around and leave them in place, wide enough spacing to not catch on your curls in an excessive way, AND narrow enough spacing to actually address the knots rather than going around them! Again, I don't want to get ahead of myself, but so far I'm excited about the Unbrush and have enjoyed using it. And the ease of cleaning is definitely a big plus. I feel you on that Tangle Teezer-especially when it comes to product buildup! 😂

    • @AhsokaJackson
      @AhsokaJackson 6 месяцев назад

      P.S. I also have a rake comb now that I bought not long ago (but before the Unbrush), and it has nice narrow tips on the teeth and I find it's really good for sliding along/next to my scalp and checking for tangles there. It can also help me gently bring them a bit further out from my scalp so that I can better reach them with the brush for the actual detangling stage. And it's just the one row of teeth, so it's not catching a bunch of hair all at once like it does if you try to use something with rows like the Leatherwood for this checking process.

    That first brush is my FAVE! You must not be holding it at the right angle. You have to hold it straight up and down and do downward strokes. That brush eats down! I like that one better than the Unbrush/Etc;.

      Hi and thanks for tuning in. I did hold the brush straight up and down. It just pulled on my coily hair too much. I prefer a less flexible brush that my coils don't get tangled in. But, I'm glad that you found a brush that you love because that is what matters. Again, thanks for tuning in and engaging with me.💛

    You have the dupe the real one ses unbrush

    • @a.b368
      @a.b368 6 месяцев назад +1

      Nope Curl Keeper is an older brand than fhi which released the unbrush. You must be young bc curl keeper been putting these brushes out since ever. Unbrush is simply more viral now. The unbrush is made in China anyways so I guess even the dupes might come from the same place except that they don't have the fhi/unbrush label.
