The good news is, essentially we are done with the ridiculous push to release camera after camera. The ridiculous prices will start falling soon. Consider A pro-sumer hybrid camera was generally less than 1K less than a decade ago. High end DSLR's and LENSES were much more expensive but very niche (those sports guys and safari guys). The camera companies figured out a way to ride the "content creation" generation and egg them into ever increasingly expensive cameras.. When you look at the core of what a camera 5 years ago can produce in regards to pure image quality vs now, there is very little change. When they are no longer able to cram more frame rates into these cameras without cooking eggs, they cannot sustain the increase in price let alone maintain the current pricing which is ludicrous.
You looked to be rather red and kind of bursting forward into the screen in the studio Canon set up today. I tend to like wide angle lenses but this seemed too much today. I felt like I wanted to back up away from the screen. Recoiling in horror, if you will. However, the lighting did help you achieve (to my eyes) good 3D pop!
Battery thingee. Ohms Law....know it, learn it, live it. V=IR. New circuit design must have needed more current so Canon likely lowered battery resistance to elevate current while keeping voltage the same. Vents will shed the heat from the higher current. Maybe crammed in another cell too. Science. Cameras are just PCs. Canon needed a higher wattage power supply in the case. We can always put a higher wattage power supply in a lower end PC. We're lucky they didn't have to change the battery case.
I left Sony (A1) for Canon (R3 and preordered R1) primarily due to Sony's body design, and secondarily due to out-of-camera image quality and autofocus.
Erm actually I think the price of the R5II isn't so bad (at least in the UK; £4,499), and in terms of price it competes favourably with the Z8's release price (£4000) and both are WAY better value than Sony's A1. That said to be balanced, as the R5II's readout speed is slower than both the Z8's and the A1's, Canon really could've priced this a little bit lower on release (maybe like £3899). That said the camera is also quite well featured and the only real "crippling" is the weird things they've done with which modes are over sampled (I think 4K60 & 120 are not which is a bummer). Overall I think it's a very good release and I'd be happy with it as a Canon user, the one glaring downside of Canon remains their lack of full frame 3rd party lenses IMO (and they could've better featured their 1.8s - to have weather resistance and silent motors).
I don't like that the R5MKII will overheat at 8K-RAW 60fps after 18 minutes. 8K-RAW 60fps out of the R5C is very easy and realtime editing on my good PC in Davincy resolve. If I wouldn't need 8K-RAW 60fps then it would be close to be a perfect camera for me.

It is crippled. The cards slots arent both cf express
good video! btw, does lens sharpness really matter for video? usually the lens sharpness requires like at least 24 or even 33 MP to even notice in photos. for sony GM lenses you probably need 60MP or more before the lens sharpness becomes the bottleneck. For 4K video you should be able to get away with pretty much any lens in terms of sharpness, or am I wrong? (obviously there are other things to consider for budget lenses, but i'm discussing all else equal here).
I hate you! that intro song you have is stucked into my head now (LSS - last song syndrome)..walking at work and at home and I'm finding myself singing "all i want is the perfect camera...." lol...by the way loving my 24mp Z6III who says low megapixels is bad..just look at the Canon flagship $7K (out the door) R1, keep making fun, engaging videos!
I’m shooting on 3 different Sony bodies, but my A7r5 is about to go lol. Gonna pick up either the R5 mk II or the z8. Any camera body over 3 grand needs to shoot internal raw and be stacked. Leaning towards the Z8 for price and the fact that I can adapt all my Sony glass to that mount.
A cheap body doesn't make a cheap camera if your lenses both first and secondhand come at a premium, as everything other than Canon EF, EF-S and RF mount lenses do. Canon bodies may well be more expensive, but you're financially better off in the long run. I've been inclined on a few FujiFilms, A Sony and recently the S5II since its release, but the lenses are simply far too expensive. 500 quid for a generic entry level zoom? Yeah, no thanks. Not when there's an EF or RF equivalent for £200-250.
@@cameratool said by someone who has no idea on video production. So if a camera shoots 4K120 you shoot everything in 120p? Buy the r5ii and you have to shoot 2100 Megabites per second lite RAW to get a 60P non line skipped image which has alising artifacts, which can’t be played back without advanced processing. Great workflow.
@@zegzbrutal The Raw is line skipped. Subsample is just another word for tossing discarding sensor data. Cropped, pixel binned, lines skipped are just different methods to discard. Cropping and downres are the only methods that don't decrease quality.
Still waiting for the first YT shill to remember that the R3 already has Face Registration and it is NOT a new feature in spite of what Canon's shill script claims. The cripple hammer did hit the mic jack, one stereo jack for four channels is two channels shy of sufficient.
2:20 Doesn't RAW video require demosaicing, which requires a lot of processing power on something like a CPU that isnt specialized in that. Unlike the demosaicing chips in a Canon body. RAW photos require demosaicing in something like Lightroom, and can be CPU hungry. I would figure the same is true with actual RAW video.
When making our first look I was thinking.... Is camera conspiracies finally going to find the perfect camera... right here... with Canon... There's hope.... doubt it... but they tried! :)
But I did see some info it does 2k 240p. So whats up with those "rumors". EDIT: And yes it does, so eat that sony! 2K DCI (17:9) 2048 x 1080 (239.76, 200, 119.9, 100, 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25, 24, 23.98 fps) Intra frame or Long GOP
The R5 II looks like a fantastic camera, but I don't think it's worth double the price of a used R5. As a pro, I'd rather buy 2 R5's than 1 R5 II and save the rest of the money for something else. I will probably buy the R5 II in 4 years time when the next model comes out and this one has halved in price.

At least you *can* adapt your old RF glass. Nikon owner with AF-D glass here.
I think you are very satisfied with your latest purchase. When are you getting the 35 1.4?
The out of camera image quality is better on the Sony than the canon. I’ve owned both
Erm actually I think the price of the R5II isn't so bad (at least in the UK; £4,499), and in terms of price it competes favourably with the Z8's release price (£4000) and both are WAY better value than Sony's A1.
Only professional photographers own the canon R5 Mk II. Nobody else can handle the technology.
I got my 5D mkII and this is tempting me an upgrade... But damn, close to 6000$ CAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Well it over 6k$ with taxes)
Not sure man if u read my comments but you are too good man, thanks for your video
I fuckin laughed just reading the title of the video before even watching it. 😂
With the yellow shirt and the red shirt you remind me of the upcoming deadpool and wolverine movie.
Mom, stop waving at Kasey!
good video!
btw, does lens sharpness really matter for video? usually the lens sharpness requires like at least 24 or even 33 MP to even notice in photos. for sony GM lenses you probably need 60MP or more before the lens sharpness becomes the bottleneck.
You are so awkward lol but its pretty funny, I bet you talk to yourself a lot, anyways I subscribed haha and I am buying the r5 mk ii
6K 60 raw Noice
Line skipped garbage
Finally you said great bout canon I subscribe to you now
I pre-ordered it.
5k what ! I guss am staying vintage forlife 😅
How much the competition slip you under???? For these year. Since Viet Nam, Thailand, Singapore, Jakarta????
Should Canon be making your complexion good or realistic?
Pahahahaha; been a while since watching one of your videos; pure comedic gold (and informative)!!!!
Maybe sony would come from the left field and come with 4k240 A7S4 12mp stacked sensor. We’re in HFR territory babehh
It is way to expensive. Exactly why I will keep my R5 and wait until Black Friday.
Sometimes you do a slightly ok summation of gear...VEGE!
Besides being expensive, you have to buy their expensive closed lens eco system, camera over heats, and it line skips 4k 60 and raw, its great. 😄
You don't pay for 8k 60, then use 4k 60.
It's insane to break the bankS for the lenS,
It's not line skipped, R5ii 4k60 is subsampling, same as A1.
@@zegzbrutal The Raw is line skipped. Subsample is just another word for tossing discarding sensor data. Cropped, pixel binned, lines skipped are just different methods to discard. Cropping and downres are the only methods that don't decrease quality.
Why is this video quality so crispy?
Kasey what do think about the canon R6? 😁
"The system is the lenses"; hence, M43 is my choice.
for travel would you recommend A6700 or S5ii mainly video and photos on the side
I need to use the expression “thanks for nothing” more often
Did he say that Canon´s RF Top Lenses have no 3d pop?
When making our first look I was thinking.... Is camera conspiracies finally going to find the perfect camera... right here... with Canon... There's hope.... doubt it... but they tried! :)
you should test the A6700, it's a mini A7Siii with better colors science and AF
They put a tiny bufffer in it, 93 frames at 30fps Raw, what the heck
What flash is compatible?
IT IS Cripple hammer with the OVErHEATING
But I did see some info it does 2k 240p. So whats up with those "rumors".
EDIT: And yes it does, so eat that sony!
2K DCI (17:9) 2048 x 1080 (239.76, 200, 119.9, 100, 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25, 24, 23.98 fps) Intra frame or Long GOP
2k is just FHD. That's just the DCI aspect ratio being slightly wider than 1920 x 1080.
@@cameraconspiracies damn.
Aaaah the Hummer is BACK!!! 😂😂😂
no way u actually bought the 5d mark 2
It doesn't match the specs if it also has 45mp stills and much better autofocus capability for stills. Incomparable.
Then Sony will bring ther A7S4 so I guess Canon will sorta match that by about 2030.
