always loved the 85 in the neck pos for leads (sweeping and stuff), and 57 slightly over the 81 for riffing..so i combined them and was happy with the results@@jordansguitarchannel3809
Have you trined the 24volt mod with the 57? I found that's it's not as dramatic as what it does to the 81 but it still REALLY helps to my ears. I also experimented with lower the gain setting on the Fluence Modern. There is a little jumper you can simply slide onto the back of the pickup. That really helps the Modern. At least to my ears
Thanks for the tips. I haven’t tried it on the 57 yet, because I really like the bite I get through my setup. Just got a brand new amp today so I may check it out. Does it give off more a paf sound?
@@jordansguitarchannel3809 To my ears, the 24 volt mod on the 57 does exactly the same thing it does with the 81. More headroom and clarity. The Fishman lower gain setting just calms it down and helps with that frequency you mentioned. I first saw/heard it here... ruclips.net/video/qLbVGXzGueE/видео.html
I have a 57TW/66TW set that I did the 24V mod with and what I noticed is the guitar is much more responsive to picking dynamics, if I pick softer the sound is cleaner and when I really dig in I get a good crunch. It’s subtle but noticeable
Thank you! I watched a bunch of 57 demos and some people's tone sounded mehh and I didn't like what they were playing. This was my facorite demo and im officially sold. Appreciate you for this video
I think the Fishman is for players who are all about 'cutting through a mix'... and it does that... but its a very 'barky' cut, on the verge of being too brittle (in my opinion). The 57 (in my opinion) sounds much more 'well rounded'. I saw a seperate vid of the 57 clean, it does clean very well. ...and lets face it, there isnt a single pickup in existence that masters every single application. To cater to one aspect will draw away from another
I’ve struggled to like the Fishman, but lately through my Engl I’ve found it to be very applicable and satisfying. I love the 57 a lot, it’s a good mix of vintage and modern with just the right amount of bite. And absolutely no pickup will ever do that, that’s why I have different ones in all of my guitars.
@@jordansguitarchannel3809I couldn’t agree more. I’m mainly a Duncan Distortion guy but I have 57’s in some guitars and Fishman Modern Ceramics in others. It’s all about the guitar and what you are using the certain guitar for

Absolutely, I have two guitars with moderns and keep them around just for comparison and something different. I’d much rather have EMG, they just can’t be beat.
agree 100% with the 57, its a great compromise of having active power with a pickup that gives some nice sharp attack and tone kinda like a passive. its clear, tight and powerful. - the fishman sounds a bit higher endy, brighter, but i think those solar guitars are like that anyway
52s into a 57 into 5153 into a 57 lol great man....
Thanks man! Just the comparison I was looking for. My money goes to the EMG 57.
No problem, man! Glad I could help.

You’re welcome brother. I’m here for the community man, we should all be looking out for each other and helping others grow on this journey.
Tbh I love the modern and 57, but I still can’t choose which one I want to use lol
I get it man, I recommend just getting two guitars with one set each. Worked for me. Haha
57/66. Trust me
57/85 favorite combo
That’s different, what about it makes it your favorite?

Looking good brother ! I wonder if guitar into EQ would get the Fishman sounding like the 57 ?
I bet it would. I can EQ the 81 to get them close. Good call.

You were really feeling it with the opening riff.
Amen. That Charvel is a beast. Makes you wanna chug!
EMG 57 or 81X?? Trying to figure out if the 57 will have enough without being too compressed. Any help?
In my opinion, the 57 will more than cover it. It’s a nice mix between a PAF and an 81 with less compression. Hope that helps!

The EMG 57 with the 24v mod is the best EMG there is..
It really cuts through and opens up. Sadly I don’t have a 57 anymore.
Little late to this but does the mod push the output too?
I think you should have compared both voicings of the Fluence Modern. Pull that knob out and you should get better low end.
You might be right but for death metal that modern sound was pretty good...
I agree, it cuts really well
both sounds overdistored and compressed.
The Fishman Fluence Moderns have such a cocked-wah sound. I’ll stick with my EMGs.
I have to eq the moderns to get that out.

Honestly I prefer the 81 and the Het Set over all of them, but I love the 57 too. It’s just easy to get that sound with little effort.

Yeah they are pretty bright sounding. I still prefer the 57 tho, so much chunk to it.
