all these Jupiter 80 haters on here man people are something else I'm a proud owner of this beautiful board dude was killing them keys it's a new day people get over the anger JP 80 is the future king of the keyboards.
I've played Moogs, Arps, and Hammonds since they first came out and seen many demos. I don't speak German, but your demo is one of the most inspiring I've seen in a long time. People bash the Jupiter 80 for what it's NOT, but this is a great audio description of what it IS! Nice to see someone who can really play with enthusiasm. Great job!
I don't see what the problem is. Yes they screwed up naming it Jupiter. OK folks, get over it. This is an extremely versatile machine. No it ain't a JP-8. It's a JP-80. For what it does especially with this guy demoing it, it just sounds great. I'll just have to win the lottery to affford it that's all.
I'm Rini Heeren from the Netherlands, and I have a question. I have a month of 4 also the great Jupiter 80 but I'am looking for NEW Sounds where can I find that. I'll thank you for youre answer MEISTER
BEST EVER Keyboard Demo , Review and playing ! This GUy is awesome , Most demso are just CRAP...this guy should do every keyboard Review , I wanna buy this Keyboard , I know e=xactly what it does , BRAVO Deutchsland!
Yeah, i'm used to using VSTi's and daws. I had a Yamaha Motif xs6 but daw integration and lack of 64 bit back then was a disaster so its gone. I'm gonna retry my luck with Roland. My big question is does the Jp80 have that Fat analog sound from its older brother? I can get all kinds of virtual analog these days from vst but i really want to get a few select pieces of hardware. Thanks
Awesome synth here. I had tunnel vision on the prophet 12 until I check out a number of videos on the Jupiter 80..Sry prophet 12. The Jupiter 80 has won me over..the Jupiter 80
(continued from earlier post) I continue to wonder what I could do with this synth. The demos don't help, but then, demos of many other synths don't help either. I use a Technics KN750, an imitative synth like the Jupiter 80, and few if any demos suggest that it can sound worthwhile and not cheesy. My RUclips piece Bradnor Hill is the Technics (+ some ARP twitters). Maybe the Jupiter 80 can make interesting and sensitive sounds like that? Maybe we'll find out when it gets cheaper?
yes but this synth will still be in perfect operating condition 30 years from now, a jupiter 8 would only be in good condition if it hasn't been used much and has been babied.
Wow.. people sure want to rip this synth. Perhaps they feel Roland is milking the name and watering down the sound. I disagree! If I had my hands on those sounds, my creative juices would be flowing big time. It sounds wonderful. Sure, an arpeggiator playing a part instead of it being played live can seem cheesy but it opens the door for novice players to get their creative feet wet as well. Though I have not seen many of them on the world stages, as say a Nord Stage 2, this board sounds killer!
@MrLickMyDick1 I'm with you, one of the first thing I saw is that there was room on the top for a midi faders or knobs controllers - as if that kind of thing didnt cost enough - and I don't need to wear my glasses to tweak my Korg MS-20. Even digital displays with navigation buttons suck imho. Touchpads are good for using your stuff in a bus or under your school desk but that's not something you do with a keyboard like this.
I just picked one up, its so unique as far as infrastructure. If you consider the tone blender which is a tone changer to me, the number of presets in this are in the 100,000 range if not infinite. My only disappointment is no seamless patch (registration) changing like my Casio has, if you are holding notes and change the registration it wont hold your held notes with the old registation. I just assumed this mandatory characteristic would have been in the jp80. Didnt check if that is true for live sets or single sounds.
my guess is that is because of the enormous number of voices available per registration. if you have a registration that uses all of the 30 oscillators available, even with 256 voice polyphony a four note chord with a bass note in the left hand would cause 24 oscillators to be stolen for your next 5-noter. . . but there is SOME sustain-over, I've found, depending on available voices (or maybe effect routing?) It's not like Roland forgot about this feature. They chose to go with more raw power.
For live performances one should have a high dollar quality case.. The Pegasus wings is not a cheap synth. I consider it more a workstation for studio use.. Jiupiter 80 is well worth doing gigs for
oh is that so? no sequencer doesn't really fit my needs. I think what I would need would b an older Jupiter 9 +Fantom. I think the Roland marketing just backfired then, it seems to have created more hate than anything else. Thanks for the clarity!
Call it Roland J-Synth or something like that and every jupiter lovers will even not notice it and most of user will still be happy with because it's still a good keyboard.
Roland must hire you guys to make their videos. I don't understand German, but this video is good enough and I like your presenter, while Roland make very stupid videos and you can't get idea what is the instrument really capable of. Your video is much better than Roland videos of Jupiter-80. Good!
Con imaginación y ROLAND, se pueden hacer muchas cosas; sino ver en RUclips, mis cuentas "lechanavarro", "organlecha" y "lechaguitar1". Un cordial saludo. V. Lecha.
great musician!!!!!I ....its only very bad selling strategy of Roland to name this machine Jupiter-they should name it for example Pluto:-)....otherwise this synth sounds great from this demo.........but I am the Kronos owner and Kronos is Kronos!!!!I played Motif XS 61 and its like a toy...:-(
he is really a talented musician and a great salesman. that guy would make me buy this device, then after the purchase at home; -dood, diid, dood diid , pffff i want to watch tv now.
As convincing as this guys skill is there is still something "sonically" missing a feeling that it lacks compared to the 80s Jup8.....thats why the 80s board is still valued higher.....ROLAND??
I think that this keyboard would have excellent reviews if it wasn't called Jupiter. The problem would be solved. This synth is more like the evolution of the Fantom Workstation series than anything else. Both names are great for their own reasons, but i think it just angers Jupiter lovers. Yeah I really want a good cond. Jupiter for a good price.
Finally, someone who demonstrates the worth of the board!

God has gifted this man with chops! Inspiring! Didn't understand a word he said, but the music is enough language 👍
Unbelievable what 1 man can do with this beast of a synth! :-O
Lawrence O And unbelievable Roland still sells these and can't even update the iPad app, nor offer any kind of computer editor librarian 😡
jupiter-80 still top 2021

the keyboard.

yes but this synth will still be in perfect operating condition 30 years from now, a jupiter 8 would only be in good condition if it hasn't been used much and has been babied.

@Robert A.:
Jeff Lynne's ELO used the Jupiter80 at its Wembley concerts. 👍

For live performances one should have a high dollar quality case.. The Pegasus wings is not a cheap synth. I consider it more a workstation for studio use.. Jiupiter 80 is well worth doing gigs for
Really Cool!
Thank you for the demo. Although I don't speak German, it was still very informative. I guess music transcends language barriers.
Una pregunta tiene secuencidor el Júpiter 80
which is better this or Kurzweil PC3K8?
"Africa" by Toto :-)
wooooow dieses instrument würde sehr gut presentiert !!
Does Jupiter 80 even carry any of the sounds from it's forefather?
very nice
oh is that so? no sequencer doesn't really fit my needs. I think what I would need would b an older Jupiter 9 +Fantom.

Roland hasn't been making those "would-sell-kidney-to-have-one" instrument for a long long time.
Pegasus wings weighs 39 pounds, has a CD burner built in.. Sure you wanna do live gigs? I mean it sounds really nice. Very good for studio. For
Totally agree, these guys should be taking notes from DSI. Never compromise quality for passing trends for yuppies with too much money to spend.
Sehr schoen
Con imaginación y ROLAND, se pueden hacer muchas cosas; sino ver en RUclips, mis cuentas "lechanavarro", "organlecha" y "lechaguitar1". Un cordial saludo.

He look like David Hasselhof younger brother.

Und bald spielen die Keyboard von ganz allein! (Nein - das hab ich nur zum Spaß gesagt - irgendwie erinnert mich sein Spiel an Patrick Moraz!)
@audiotrax2000 Jp-80 is totally different machine. It's not perfect. but it sounds really good.
Amazing

he is really a talented musician and a great salesman. that guy would make me buy this device, then after the purchase at home;
-dood, diid, dood diid , pffff i want to watch tv now.

No synth can provide fat 80's brass patches like Roland
Awesome stage synth. But too expensive.
Song name at 06:26 pls
Sweet!!!!!!!!!!
It sounds great... but speaking of analog, what I wouldn't give for a faithful and RELIABLE emulation of the Yamaha CS-80...
