This is a great composition, well rehearsed, and brilliantly delivered. The guitar was the instrument of the last century but the synth is this century's master instrument. This track proves that in spade fulls. Well done guys!! Cheers.
I love the sounds of the Jupiter 80. What a great song! Keep making cool keyboards! I have the Roland Fantom G8 and Juno 106. They are my favorite keyboards to play. Now I really want to try out a Roland Jupiter 80!
Hey guys, what an awesome sound. I really enjoyed watching and listening to you fella's play. I am a drummer myself (40 yrs of drumming now) and I love the Roland Kits. I'm getting a new Roland TD-4 KS V-Drum Kit myself this week. Keep up the good work guys, that was great.
For my opinion many new synths are wrong presented. The Jupiter 80 is a synth, and must presented as a synth, not as an entertainer keyboard. You can have the best gear and it is nothing, if you are not able to use it, and to pay with its highlights: This is a wonderful performance. Profs at work!
Wonderful performance from two immense and powerful Jupiter 80s, the drums are equally as impressive, shame it's recorded in mono, would be a great track to download, need more of this from these guys. Thanks for posting.
Awesome, now that Sweetwater is doing no interest financing on these I'm jumping in before they discontinue it. First keyboard purchase in over two decades. My Roland JD-800 and D70 have served me well almost 25 years now, and only the D70 has had anything fade away with time and that is the LCD backlight. If this Jupiter 80 last as long as those it will most likely out live me :) Sounds are a dime a dozen these days with little macbooks and iPads, but a big solid metal work horse synth with actual metal weights under each key is priceless. Thanks Roland for keeping me inspired for 35 years now :0
Silly how people compare this to the old analog machines. Read on what the Jupiter serie really means. I appreciate the new and old Jupiters. In my opinion it has some of the older fat Jupiter sounds and they sounded pretty close. It has improved real instrument sounds and some really nice digital synth sounds. Great performance synth and would be a great addition to my Nord Stage II and Kurzweil PC3 setup. I think it's a wonderful performance synth.
I updated my Jupiter 80 with the version 2.0.... If you like synth sounds, the update is insane... there are even better synth sounds now. Make sure you try a JP80 with the v2.0 update on a store!
That was fantastic. I see why you are with Roland. Does it get better than Jupiter 80? Even by today’s standards that is unearthly. And those playing skills kicked ass guys nice work!
Jupiter-80 was fun but an immensely flawed unit as well. I feel ZEN-Core is a vast leap forward in our technology and recreation power. In many ways FANTOM has exceeded everything that was and then some, despite being a quite different product overall. People shouldn't be looking back on the board with too much reverence, as it might cause some to invest now (too late) which isn't worth it.
I LOVE my Jupiter 80 and was fortunate to find a new old stock in box in Japan. And I just bought a Korg Kronos 88 and have a Yamaha Motif XF8. No need for anything else! Spoiled I am :-)
Digital, analogue? Does it really matter? In the right hands it's what you do with it that counts. I doubt fans in the audience or record company execs would notice the difference or care two hoots as long as you come up with some decent music. A superb demonstration here of what looks like a great musical instrument.
That was a fun demo. But I think Roland has always done a poor job marketing this board. There should have been demos showing the creation of heavily layered extremely fat patches so players could see how versatile and powerful this keyboard really is. Unfortunately I think too many keyboard players don't want to dive into sound design and wait for expansion packets to come out and the marketing reflects that. It's a pity because whoever designed this board believed in sound design and it's a monster if you go deep. People who limit themselves to factory presets would probably be better served with a Kronos. This board is also very performance oriented, has a great build quality and I love the feel of they keybed.
The Jupiter-80 goes deeper than the Kronos? Not trying to challenge you on that POV, I simply don't know the answer. The Kronos is a monster. So, I'm interested in your response.
This is, what the Jupiter 80 should be, a JUPITER SYNTHESIZER. Not a piano, flute, bassoon or other wave rom instruments. Now my mind has changed on that machine.
Yes, definitely everyone - the JP-80 starts to look amazing now, in light of the release of the new Jupiter-X. Many will start to realize what a beautiful Synth that they have not paid it the enough attention that it deserves.
Guitarists don't have to remember where each patch is and which part of the keyboard it is split to. That's what's on those ipads. Information to keep the multiple possibilities in this massive keyboard in check. Each patch change is written down for a live performance so mistakes are avoided. Real instruments can be played more easily without charts because you're only dealing with one instrument. Try playing your guitar while playing a trumpet and violin at the same time.
Me hubiera gustado ver las capacidades del Júpiter y las capacidades de los músicos q por cierto son muchas!!!! Mucho efecto!!! El baterista es el único q muestra un poco su habilidad
uuuu... more anxiety while waiting my Jupiter 80 and TDK 30 KV for arrive to my home in Montevideo, Uruguay!! ;), and open the box! ... ;) aaaghhhh.....
+Life On Mars - Official I liked the look of it too and planned to pick one up at the local music shop but didn't like how flimsy it felt for the money. I thought my cheap pro-line (though more soviet looking) did a better job of holding the board solid.
I know the 'synth' lovers are goo-goo eyed, but cannot but think that the sounds are like every other Roland workstation I've either owned or played with... the marketing blurb promised a lot more than more super-saw waves, with chorus & reverb....
agree, i have no use for a fake keyboard oboe or harpsichord. i have an old roland e-30 that has a bunch of un usable sounds in the tone bank. wish it had more electronic stuff
Rolandmedia, can you properly mixdown your audio and post STEREO instead of mono?? Can't listen to this.. Music has so much potential and you post this narrow audio.
Who’s still listening to this in 2024?
Timeless and unique performance. Always ❤️for the Jupiter 80.
This song deserves to be on itunes. PLEASE put it on itunes!!!!
I come back here every couple of months to get inspiration and dream one day i'll be this good.
I played my dad's jupiter 80 and i disn't want to stop playing it so thumbs up
These are the most badass senoirs I've seen.
That was stronge, great keyboards , I do wish it had more knobs and sliders.. but you guy's sound great..
This is a great composition, well rehearsed, and brilliantly delivered. The guitar was the instrument of the last century but the synth is this century's master instrument. This track proves that in spade fulls. Well done guys!! Cheers.
I think people who are tied to charts are just raised that way
I love the sounds of the Jupiter 80. What a great song! Keep making cool keyboards! I have the Roland Fantom G8 and Juno 106. They are my favorite keyboards to play. Now I really want to try out a Roland Jupiter 80!
And now you can! Great purchase the other night! Only $1000 for this synthesizer!?!?!? You'd better thank Craigslist. :)

super true. I can go on for hours on the customization that the synth editor gives me

Yes, definitely everyone - the JP-80 starts to look amazing now, in light of the release of the new Jupiter-X.

@@synthheavens I will never part with my Jupiter 80. I am still interested in the X but we have to hear more demos.. The JP-80 is it's own beast.

dear roland,
how about a reissue of an sh-09, not a digital version either....ALL analog baby!!!! please and thank you.
Did you listen in a headset, or cpu speakers? In a headset, sounds great.
Reminds me of that 1970's band Space.
killed it
Is that a factory preset tone on the Jupiter 80 24 seconds into the video? Or did they make that sound
Me hubiera gustado ver las capacidades del Júpiter y las capacidades de los músicos q por cierto son muchas!!!! Mucho efecto!!! El baterista es el único q muestra un poco su habilidad

+Life On Mars - Official
Roland KSJ8 designed for the Jupiter 80
+Life On Mars - Official I liked the look of it too and planned to pick one up at the local music shop but didn't like how flimsy it felt for the money. I thought my cheap pro-line (though more soviet looking) did a better job of holding the board solid.

Regular Show - "The Power" IRL!
Regular show!
Good...¡¡¡ But, why in mono??????????
Just wish Roland would go analog and make these real jupiters.
Reminds me a little of ANNIMUSIC, just a little though.
whish my roland va7 sounded this good
to jest piękne tylko 3 instrumenty z czego 2 te same a takie piękne to co by było na żywo sie okarze jak sie kupi
Roland and Yamaha are the best for musicians. Long time ago it was Korg as well, but not anymore.
I wont sel this keyboard.
Works well next to my moog xl .cant really bitch Bout comparing with toys.:)
Don't hate.
Mono recording? Seriously?
I know the 'synth' lovers are goo-goo eyed, but cannot but think that the sounds are like every other Roland workstation I've either owned or played with... the marketing blurb promised a lot more than more super-saw waves, with chorus & reverb....

I didnt know Gary Busey played synthesizers
It's not a workstation ???
People are entitled to their opinions even if they are talking rubbish ;)
A synth doesn't do 95% of the work. You should go play one sometime and come back.
Nice one,but i would enjoy better a demo from V-topia...
Could have done all that on 1 jupiter... lol.
and what a drummer so angry?
Rolandmedia, can you properly mixdown your audio and post STEREO instead of mono??
