    I worked in a machine shop for a long time and if the airport needed custom parts for the radar, they certainly could have ordered more than one so they had parts stocked for such an enormously important piece of equipment. That's just crazy they wouldn't have any extra made parts in stores. 😳

    • @Rinluyen420
      @Rinluyen420 2 года назад +2

      i doubt a machine shop would build a fixture, write a program, setup the tooling, do touch offs and setup, prove out the program, and then only run one part. the ATC was likely just counting on the machine shop having more, and waiting for them to ship it. that being said i agree they should have had spares on hand at the ATC.

      My dad ran a Cancer clinic for decades as a radiation oncologist and the treatment room had a massive lead door to block radiation from the treatment room that had to have custom hinges to hold the weight, as it required a ceiling mounted crane to lift and even move it. after 35 years the hinges were wearing out so he went back to the welding/machine shop that made the first set (Smileys in Mount Vernon, Washington) and Smiley just led my dad to the back without saying a word and there sitting on a shelf was an extra set he made back when he made the first ones. He said I knew you'd come for these eventually!😂

      Maybe they had run out of spares from the last custom run. That would make a bit more sense, but is really poor planning.

      I'm sure she empathized a lot with the person she was portraying. I feel horrible for the AT controller this happened to. I'd hate to have to live with the worst mistake of my life like that, BUT, it was a mistake created by airlines placing impossible demands on their controllers. There's a limit at how much multi tasking people can realistically do. I blame the airlines for this one. I feel sorry for her. It could have happened to any one of the controllers. 😢

      Agreed. It's horrific when these things happen, and sickening when anyone makes a mistake that costs a life or lives. There are people who always want heads to roll over these kinds of mistakes, but the problem is that we're all susceptible to making mistakes.
      Maybe if more pilots and ATCs were Christians, and prayed for protection and alertness, these accidents would be less frequent.

    • @SelaRose
      @SelaRose 2 года назад +13

      @@annep.1905 I’m sorry but it’s sentences like “Maybe if more people were Christians and prayed, these things wouldn’t happen as often” that give us as Christians a bad name. A person’s doesn’t have more protection or awareness in cases like this because of their religious beliefs. Ecclesiastes 9:11 is evidence of that.

    • @annep.1905
      @annep.1905 2 года назад +3

      @@SelaRose Hardly.
      Ecclesiastes 9:11 merely says that time and chance happen to all men. But time and again we read in the Old Testament how men prayed for protection from God, and were given it.
      I'm sorry you're offended, but I refuse to retract my statement. I stand by what I said. I believe that God often does protect those who are his when they ask for his protection, and I think it happens more often than we know. As more people are rejecting God, there is an increase in worldwide disasters of many kinds.
      To back up what I have to say, have a look at the blessings and the curses in Deuteronomy, Chapter 28, I believe. God's protection extends even to the clothing of those he loves, as is evidenced by the fact that while the Israelites wandered in the desert, their clothes and shoes did not wear out.

    • @SelaRose
      @SelaRose 2 года назад +3

      @@annep.1905 True, there are many instances where God stepped in and provided protection for his people but the way you phrased your comment makes it sound like this accident would have been avoided had ATC prayed for clarity and awareness before going to work that day or that people trapped in the plane didn’t call out to God for protection to escape the wreckage. Yes God can step in for the sake of his people but I find it hard to believe that part of the reason all these people died was that they didn’t ask hard enough for protection. Bad things still happen to good people, even those that fervently believe in God and if all it took to survive an accident was to have enough faith in God’s protection, there’s would be no more deaths among Christians except for old age.
