I found my father's hmt chetan watch which was lying for 5 years unused, after seeing this I winded it, and to my surprise it works! HMT's are made to last.
@@danishta4426 Would recommend trying to get it serviced, it might be a bit pricey but if it has sentimental value or you really just want it to work well, I feel it would be worth it
I've just bought three of these watches (one is for a friend) and so, far, I'm very pleased with them. I refer to them as "real watches" and I find the winding of the timepiece somewhat therapeutic and satisfying. I doubt I've ever gotten two days out of a full-wind but that's not really much of a bother to me. As I hate large watches (the types that feel heavy and oversized) I also love the dimensions of the HMT watch, just right for my wrist. Thank you for your video.

You should be able to wind your watch gently until you feel it stop, especially with Russian watches they are designed to be able to do this I have two Raketa's one new old stock from the late 80's and a very loved and used but serviced and cared for one from about 1975 I wind each until stop every night gently.

I just recently received my used Janata from India. So far I am amazed at the quality and accuracy of this watch. Although a used watch, it appears new. Edit: bought a demagnetizer and demagnetized the watch . It is running super accurate now. Old comment below: So looking at all these videos, I bought a hmt janata from the showroom in Bangalore. Big mistake, first one stopped in 2 days. Went back to showroom, they replaced it with new one without any questions. Now new one loses 10 minutes every 6 hours. I think I wasted my money. My hmt stops running when worn on wrist but works fine when not worn and kept aside...also when winding the watch anti clockwise the seconds hand stops but starts once the time is set but the seconds hand does not stop when winding in clock wise direction... What could be the problem?

I've got one hmt kohinoor, but when I got it at first I've winded it 35 times, later that day it worked fine. After 2 days when I winded it do does well but there were a slight resistance and the crown turnes back. Next day same I winded a watch 10-12 times I feel the resistance and the crown turns back. I also observed the watch stops at some time even when it's winded. If anyone have knowledge about this please do help me with this. FYI this was said as an unsold stock 2020 model

Prashant ji. Got a new Pilot and a Kohinoor recently. 1) The manual says to wind it anti-clockwise, but it feels like nothing is happening. 2) When I wind it clockwise, it kind of unwinds/rotates anti-clockwise automatically, a little bit. Is this natural? Thanks.

Once it stopped ticking after about 15-16 hours I tried to wind it forward again but it offered resistance at the first wind so I hesitated to wind it further.. Please advise what do I do in such a situation.. Also can you tell how can I completely unwind the watch before winding it from scratch without resistance
While you are winding the crown, at one point in time , you feel the tension of the spring on your fingers , the refusal to accept the winding stage......it means the spring inside has fully wounded enough and we have to stop at there, take out our fingers from the crown.

If you use Ebay, make sure the satisfaction rating is 98% or higher and you should have no problem. I ordered my HMT via Ebay with no problems. Good luck, and you will love HMT watches!

Colour of the second hand is not the ideal way of identifying a fake watch. It's the dial which is important.

Do you push the crown stem in,before winding? Don't have one yet,but ordered for one today.
The clicking sound must be from a ratchet inside.
