I just love these HMT vintage watches. I wanted to start watch collecting on a small budget and then I found this brand, there are hundreds!! I have just ordered 4 from a well known auction site. I hope they turn out as nice as these. Thank you for your passion, all the way from England.

Bought an HMT off eBay from galaxy India for $15.00 US.I hope they are a reliable company.White pilot watch with Arabic numbers 1-12 no lume.Dont no if it is Frankenstein watch are not.If it works I'll be happy.
It would be great to have a buyers guide to learn how to distinguish franken from legit. There are some obvius cues but there is also some contradictory information related to scripts, finishing, etc... It seems that the same model could vary depending on which factory it was manufactured
Yes that's true....as there are many variants, it is a bit tough ...neither i have all the variants

I have 3 vintage HMT all of which have been fixed and I enjoy them. But the newer ones to be blunt are garbage. I haven't seen a single one without issues like misalignment, printing issues, smudges in the movement. Can't buy a watch on the nostalgia factor alone.
Nice Video. Love the Janata watch with the transparent caseback. I tried to buy it from hmt website but it was sold out moments before i try to buy one. I Still check hmt website every now and then to see if the watch is available.

Finally the Hindi script has silver minute, hour and seconds hands vs the red second hand in other variations, I was initially a little suspicious

I'm looking to purchase the 'exact' watch as shown in the video... 'The Tale of HMT Watches and the HMT Janata' uploadad by 'Youre Terrific'. As it's not on the official HMT webpage then I'm reluctant to trust any info about these watches. As with the 1963 Seagull, it's possible that there are as many fakes as there are original HMTs, so I'm saving my money for a watch brand that I can trust.

Wrist straps in India are a big problem to find....better to take a look in watch stores ans sort what you like....online no chance for good ones
I have always loved janata and pilots even the newest Skelton was a nice touch have my 90s janata that I recently restored alot of people ask me about janata a classic timepiece indeed. Loved your collection specially the burst dial.

hey i have my grandpa's hmt janata with double indices on 12 and 6. its written parashock ; water protected and 17 jewels at 6. similar to the watch at @7:20 .. is it frankem or original.

Hello Mr. Ghosh I have received a Janata White dial from Bangalore factory, the white dial seemed to be scratched from inside. Now I received the watch back and it has India sticker put on in place of the scratched dial. Could you please tell where the word India is written on your new editions of Janata milky white dial? Mine is very oddly placed between the indices of 7, 6 and 5.
I have no idea of new one. But in mine India is mentioned near 7 and 0231-A near 5

Janata delux is more robust by design. Plain janata has that vintage look and feel.

how can one should identify hmt fake watch?
Basically that is easy...hand written are uneven and thick and non uniform....factory original is printed ....if you see the prints and lumes closely then you can judge
