    Last Of The Summer Wine is a great show with very skilled actors. The writer Roy Clarke, is a brilliant writer, he also wrote "Open all Hours," with Arkwright in charge of a shop.

      Than you Peter! I have always been interested in Transport, but mostly the aesthetics, not the mechanical bits! Ironic, as dad was a mechanic !

    I remember the red double decker that was converted to a café as it was round the corner from my work in St Leonards. It had a small collection of pictures of it being used in the series on-board. Sad to see it go when it did, was very nice to have a bit of Summer Wine history nearby.

    Laughing to myself thinking about all the episodes that involved hearses used for more than their original purpose . Auntie Wainwright finally bought Tom & Smiler "better transportation" than the handcart - turns out it was an old slow hearse. Tom was horrified but Smiler liked the "little vase in the back that you can put a flower in."

    Seymour must've had a driving license in his youth, as he drove a three wheeler in First of the Summer Wine. I'm willing to believe he didn't renewed it after he started his school since he believed he'd be successful enough to hire his own driver.

    • @upstagedbyadog
      @upstagedbyadog  10 месяцев назад

      Good point, he was just the right age to need to take a test, required from 1934, before then you needed a licence but there was no test! Driving was definitely below Seymour!

      if it was a 3 wheeler it could be be driven on a motor cycle licence.
