I'm the lad on the motorcycle in the minibus at Scarborough scene. The road was partly closed so i had to go and look didn't I. A man was frantically gesturing me to stop so i turned round, stopped and watched them filming. My 5 seconds of fame.
Brilliant video, with lots of trivia packed in along the way, some of it new to me! Folks like you are such a gift to the LOTSW community, let alone RUclips.
Another great video. The thing with the ramps is a safety thing. You drive up on set, then jack the other end up placing the ramps the other way so the car can't roll of the ramps.
Right on me sandwiches ! Clegg exclaims (Boarding House Caper) when Compo dumps his wellies on the Cafe table , I always wonder if that line was actually scripted. It seems like such a natural response from Clegg.
I think that's Roy Clarke genius, giving characters lines that you believe they will say, not writing something you want them to say just to suit the plot.
There are quite a few occasions where characters go the "wrong" way - and sometimes the next time you see them is in totally the opposite direction, but that's just tv magic!
Oh, I never knew the lake that was supposed to be in Wales was in Doncaster. And I've been Sandal many times as well. Really enjoying your videos, don't see many RUclips videos about Last of the Summer Wine
Thanks Matt. Part of the reason I had the confidence to make this series is that there did not seem to be much about "Summer Wine" on RUclips, and nothing as extensive as this series turned in to!
I remember in one episode the trio get a lift on a tractor with Compo sat on the cab roof, the tractor comes to a halt on the road with an open field gate behind it and as the trio get off the tractor you can see the shadows of the person on top of the cab go through the gate and behind the wall as another shadow comes the from behind the wall and then Compo appears round the back of the tractor.
Foggys green combat jacket, the one with the faded patch pocket , cant remember which way round , it would either appear on location or studio appearances, but I always thought was a surprisingly obvious continuity error
The reason i think Clegg became more affluent is that he was in his 50s when the show started, meaning he probably only had redundancy pay and out of work pay. By the early 90s, he would have been at retirement age, meaning he would have had access to pensions, meaning he had more money. My bigger question was how did howard and pearl live neither had jobs and always seemed slightly more affluent and tidier
Good thinking, George! I can't remember off-hand if we ever knew what Howard's employment was, he does not look the type to have a very affluent employment!
@@upstagedbyadog I seem to remember it being mentioned he worked for the Electricity Board, but I could be imaging it, my memory isn't what it was lol.
Hi Chris, the bridge is at Meal Hill House - it's private land and we were given permission to film by the owner Brian Smith. The first time it appeared in "Summer Wine" was in "Extra! Extra!" in December 1996. It is quite near Jackson Bridge (White Horse pub) and many other locations.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 still simply outstanding knowledge liegh, loving your work, . . . . . . Until thy dreadful Tottenham entered unexpectedly 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻, north London derby this weekend, arsenal till one dies 😁😁😁, cheers all summer winos from a drizzly new🥝🥝🥝zealand 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
😅 I might be silly but I always liked to imagine that Sid had been a wrestler or boxer because for ages in the cafe was posters for wrestling matches, and after he died the posters were not on the walls anymore. Of course one could say Ivy decided not to advertise such things in the cafe anymore, or perhaps local wrestling matches dried up and were no longer put on in the area so no reason to advertise. Anyways, one interesting thing about the cafe was above the door high up on the building was the name of the proprietor, which made one assume Sid's last name was the same as the former owners. Perhaps it was his father's business? 🤷♂️ Anyways later on in the series the name above the door was later removed in the series. Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all P.S. The window outside the cafe in the alley doesn't quite line up to the window inside the kitchen where Ivy was.
Often wondered how Alvin continued to have his breakfast outside someone else's front door and no one seemed to complain!!
I wonder if he was secretly having an affair with "her-next-door", like Compo had his secret Thursday assignations!
I am still watcing this show in 2023 on US PBS.

Hi Chris, thanks for sharing that with us!
I really enjoyed the '2 part' Scarborough episodes
Brilliant video, with lots of trivia packed in along the way, some of it new to me! Folks like you are such a gift to the LOTSW community, let alone RUclips.
Thank you PJ, you're very kind!
I enjoy these summer wine videos very much, especially these trivia ones. Very interesting!
Glad you like them Geoff!
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for all of the hard work you put into every episode.
Thank you very much, Eve!
Great information ,nice to find out things behind the scenes
Thanks Peter, pleased you enjoyed the video. There are move Trivia videos covering the other series, too!

Ok, now explain how the ramp at the front turns round! 😉

Hey Leigh I just noticed that Compo did go the wrong way home after left the pub next door to the pub Compo turned left instead off right

Absolutely loved the first 2 series, this was very informative hope there are many more like this to come thanks...
There are 25 episodes in this docu-series!
Great video Leigh about the cast clothes i liked Clegg in his long mac looked a cool mac
Thanks so much! I'm not sure about Clegg's mac!!

Brilliant observations again Leigh, you must have a very large screen television to spot all of the anomalies!
Thanks Jay! Not a large screen tv, but I have watched every episode sooo many times!!
Loved this, hoping for more series trivia in the future!
Yes, there is something coming up covering every series!
@@upstagedbyadog Thank you!!!:)

That's called a "Texas Switch", it's often used in tv and films to change from a stunt performer to actor without a cut.
That was a classic switch
The mystery of Compos teeth

Well spotted - I didn't mention everything - but that's quite a gaffe as it's such a prominent feature!
Brilliant again, how about a dvd when your done👍👍
Probably not, but there might be a book!

you could well be right!
I’m remember Nora Battys husband was referred to as Harald in the pilot episode
We mentioned that in episode 5 "The Stalwarts", as well as Nora's original name being Eunice in the pilot.
Hello whereabouts is the bridge you're standing on, thanks

And further to my comment, I always thought Wally was a good character to. But I did think the 'Christmas in Summer' Episode a bit bizzare
"A Merry Heatwave" did mean they could do a "Christmas" episode, that was obviously filmed in the summer!!
