An interesting thing about the episode 'Why Does Norman Clegg buy Ladies' Stockings' that I noticed a while ago - it's the first episode since the series began that begins with an opening shot filmed indoors (Compo's bedroom) in the studio and on videotape, all previous 62 episodes, plus pilot, open outdoors (Holmfirth & countryside) on location and on film.
Yes, it's almost like a feature film, that uses the opening to tell you about the character or story by what you see - which of course it does by showing the contents of his bedside cabinet, including the Ferret Fancier newsletter.
Hey Leigh when Foggy was there late 70s to middle 80s then returned in 1990 i noticed his green coats was a sort of different colour green in the 90s not 70s 80s green coat
He certainly had two supposedly identical coats in his first appearances, as the one used on location had a discoloured pocket. In later series it is entirely possible he had bought a new one!
Might you be able to do an episode on cast members doing public appearances? I cannot find anything about Hollybank Garden Fete West Yorkshire June 1992 when I met Bill Owen
Did you ever feel a desire or need to ask to film at some properties in this series? A lot on private land or roads. Were the residents happy to oblige?
I wrote a lot of letters asking permission to film at many locations, very few replied. That's why you may notice some locations are missing or not as intimately covered as you might expect. The people who were helpful were very helpful...
