  • This was Lauren, my daughter-in-law's, first flight in a small plane. It was a pretty bumpy flight, but she did great. We had to go around on our final approach due to airplane on the runway.

You constantly explaining what is happening has to be the best feeling for a passenger, so they always know whats going on. Very well done!

2:00 nice takeoff briefing. I wonder if she thought you were joking when you said "rocket parachute".
10:00 Lauren seemed to warm up to the flying here.

Looks like light sport is going to look totally different if the proposed rules go into law.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see the extent of the changes in the proposal. I know Dan Johnson has been talking about most of these but I never thought this much would be included in the actual proposal. I think it will be great for general aviation if most of it gets through the review process.

@ctcrosswindadventures5165 yeah! I don't see why most will not make it through. It is a win for everyone and the only thing there seems to be confusion about is the night flying and whether a medical is required. Page 121

@ctcrosswindadventures5165 I guess there are those who think light sport should stay the way it is, but the rule will bring us on par with new rules in brazill and Europe. I think most if not all will make it through, because manufacturers have been waiting for this for a long time and the only ones that will hate it will be private pilots who feel like the new rules put us in par with them. Lol

@@mauriceevans6546 Actually, there is already very little difference between sport and private in terms of required actual piloting skills. Just a few limitations for Sport, primarily passengers, altitude, and night operations. So, night operations would be the only skill difference, assuming the sport pilot has endorsements for controlled airspace.

@@ctcrosswindadventures5165 Really great video. I'm an aspiring pilot myself, but I'm sort of waiting for MOSAIC to kick in. The funny thing about the light sport certificate is there very few if any rentable LSA's, so while it was supposed to be a cheaper path to general aviation it ended up almost requiring ownership as a barrier to entry. I suspect the lack of demand is mostly due to the MGTOW. But the medical standards for private pilot are a quite archaic; I'll just say I'm a mid-thirties guy with no history of crime or drug abuse, straight A's in college, cognitively healthy, no prescription medications, never been to the emergency room, fair eyesight but thinking about getting glasses. However an earlier misdiagnosis and a certain rare but essentially benign condition makes it expensive or perhaps impossible for me to get a 3rd class medical. Really happy to read the NPRM, and looking forward to training in a C172.
