Hey guys! We were pleasantly surprised with how much better the new S3 drives for 2022! We should also be driving the US spec version of the redesigned Golf R next month as well. Stay tuned for lots more content as we march toward the end of 2021!
Yet again I’ll tell you you need to learn how to shoot and shutter priority mode so the LEDs don’t flicker and strobe. Come on man! You busted your ass to get better video and audio quality. All you have to do is one little adjustment
I absolutely LOVE the integration of the infotainment screen into the dash. It's so much better than their "tacked-on" tablet-style design found in A4/A5/Q5. I hope when those get full redesigns we see this carry over.
I do actually like the interior design for the most part, I think Audi did a good job of refreshing the tech integration over the outdated fixed screen of the later previous generation models (and even other current models in their lineup). Not super thrilled with the drop in power on the A3 2.0 especially because it’s gained some weight, but the S3 drivetrain does seem like a standout feature of the car. However, as a current 2016 A3 owner, I’m not sure that I’d be incredibly tempted to go for this new gen model when I could just as easily end up with a lightly used A4 or A5 sportback for comparable prices.
The thing above it the Audi A3 is that it’s just as expensive to own and maintain as the A4 while being much less comfortable inside the interior due to having Volkswagon Jetta dimensions. It does look sharp tho
I never cared for the dual screen center stack that Audi has been using for ages. I much prefer hard buttons for climate etc. However, There is way too much piano black plastic. I can't wait until that trend has run its course.
when is audi going to learn that piano black plastic is a terrible interior trim? they really have gone backwards interior wise and arent the leaders they used to be in my opinion.
That center shifter area is super cheap compared to last gen.. like something out of a 20k Kia, not a 50k+ Audi S3. Gloss black, tiny toy shifter and no more knurled click wheels? And they took away the padded stitched knee rest..
I’ll be in the minority but I’d take this over the MK8 Golf R, however many people will go with the Golf R model over this one. The biggest thing Audi nailed on this was the interior design. Miles ahead and they kept physica buttons, it’s not all haptic feedback
No ventilated seats even in the highest trim..? So I can get that in a $25k Kia or this cars "lesser" little brother the VW jetta..... but not the Audi. Makes sense.
Yea it sucks bur I’d still rather have an s3 over a Jetta . But if you really want those ventilated seats than go buy tht Jetta or that Korean trash 😂. “But they have ventilated seats “ okay pal. You’re right Kia and jettas are better than Audi
Putting the Q5 steering wheel in this car (as well as the A4 and A5 series) is stupid. They offer the normal round-bag wheels in literally every other market but, for the US, you can only get those nicer steering wheels if you go for the stripper version. I was looking at an S5 but this change has lost a sale to BMW.
The car is uncomfortable with 19 inch wheels and you will feel every bump. Let’s not forget to mention the maintenance, if you can’t afford it. Brakes jobs after 40,000 miles is $2,000, the tires are real thin therefore they will wear out quickly which will cost you $1,700 and then once this is completed you have a 50,000 mile maintenance plan which is about $1,600. Money pits at the end of the day, but if you know how turn a wrench 🔧, you will be all good.
@@dominiquecovin4170 I agree, you do feel every bump on the road. Comfort mode softens up the car though. TBH, if comfort was my top concern, I would’ve picked a Q5. @@dominiquecovin4170 mine rides fine on 19s, and i dont daily it so not much to spend on maintenance, putting about 5000kms a yr on mine, then store it during the winter

@@dogchainsaw3923 You can *absolutely* blame them for giving a vehicle with summer tires in the winter. All-seasons are suitable for 95% of situations.
The proposition to have someone pay $57,000 for a non-enthusiast compact sedan is quite a bold move in my opinion. Many people look at a Golf R and say, the price premium over a kitted out GTI, is worth it, because of the differential and AWD system. It has refinement, sportiness and practicality. An enthusiast may look at a WRX STI and say the same thing, albeit slightly less refinement than a Golf R... But, here with the S3, Audi is offering a lot of refinement, perhaps not a ton of power, but the 0-60 time is very quick for what power it does make, which then really puts it into the realm of an M3 of only couple generations ago. The price however, leads me to believe that many will choose to lease such a car.... The A3 2.0 however, in the neighborhood of upper $30,000s...well, that's a great car to buy. It's still quick, refined and has AWD, good fuel economy and safety suite features. To me, that's a better buy-out option.
@@porfiriato84 that's the best thing to do with this or any Merc or BMW. Also, get a CPO and Audi care. I bought my S4 used with a CPO, and Audi care. I'm enjoying the smiles it gives me, without any worry for the next couple years.

Nice updates overall. Sucks that the A3 Quattro loses some power when most other cars have received modest increases (including the GTI). Mat Watson said the new interior doesn’t seem as luxurious as the previous generation but I’ll have to see for myself.
having owned both I can tell you Matt is correct, the S3 stays in the garage I mainly use the S1 despite the fact I hate manual gears, I had to many years driving a 12-16 speed manual truck, I mainly like auto box the now
The A3 upgrade is mostly focused on the MPG aspect. The 48V MHEV means that the engine spends a lot of time being shut off, and unlike the prior year A3 models which required 91 octane premium fuel, this new one can run all day on 87 regular unleaded.
Great review Sofyan. Working in all types of climates. The 2022 R should have taken notes and added some more tactile buttons like in the A3/S3. What happened to Audi flat bottom steering wheels? They looked the best
Can you actually order these yet? Heard that the few the dealers have were just small allotments from Audi because of the chip shortage. Has that changed?
One word: seats. No one seat design will ever fit everyone's torso or taste. I hate the ugly integrated headrest seats in the R. Anyway, more sporty vs more luxury.
Nice overview. As for the car, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The S3 at 58K is a terrible value. There are several cars available with similar performance that offer more luxury and superior driving dynamics in the same price category. The A3 also leaves me a bit cold.

Cool little car, but why oh why can't we have the hatchback version here :(
Because trump
@@kingtutzmarley2781 LOL
I want to like these but no manual option is a huge turn off.
Great review Sofyan. Working in all types of climates. The 2022 R should have taken notes and added some more tactile buttons like in the A3/S3. What happened to Audi flat bottom steering wheels? They looked the best
its an option I think. This have the rounded ones with heated function, but yeah flat looks 1000x times better.
@@evaristocorripio5434 not this time it’s the rounded one all the time
@@x7wolverines7x actually it comes in my country with the flat bottom wheel with the round center
That steering wheel, though. Takes over the cabin.
Can you actually order these yet? Heard that the few the dealers have were just small allotments from Audi because of the chip shortage. Has that changed?
Can u compare this with the brand new Integra
So did I understand that right that you can't get the sport diff on the S3 even as an option? Strange considering you can get it on the golf R
Looks like a cool ride if only the A4 S4 will also look like this
So glad NOT to see screens on top of the dash.
I mean don’t the large screens above the dash interfere with visibility???
Great review! Wondering why would I buy this over a Golf R? Because of the badge? Can't wait for your take/comparison to the new Golf R!
One word: seats. No one seat design will ever fit everyone's torso or taste. I hate the ugly integrated headrest seats in the R. Anyway, more sporty vs more luxury.
Great review!
Audi flew you out to drive a car with summer tires, in the snow?
So they can show off Quattro
I see cost-cutting.
Prefer the Mazda 3 Turbo or maybe the new Civic SI, with a proper hatch.
Amber blinker, odd choice for an Audi I feel
why is it snowing already 😭
Lmao ikr 😭😭
Because Denver.
Global warming
I wish they would have kept a more conventional gear shift or better yet a manual transmission as an option.
Ew at that interior.......I don't know which is worse-this, or the new Golf? Bring back KNOBS!
Why does this have a more intuitive interior than the GTI?
Simple, Audi badge. Much less worry about keeping cost reasonable.
I LOVE that blue color! It looks amazing 😍🔥🥵🤩🙌🏽
Nice overview. As for the car, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The S3 at 58K is a terrible value. There are several cars available with similar performance that offer more luxury and superior driving dynamics in the same price category. The A3 also leaves me a bit cold.
The materials in my opinion aren't that far from a Volkswagen.
What cars would be a better value?
@@YookGears The Genesis G70 3.3t is far better value than this.
agree, the GTI is a way better buy even though its only FWD
@@YookGears Kia Stinger
why is it snowing 👀
