- In 2020 I reviewed the Bittboy PocketGo V2.1. For the price it was a pretty good value and was vaguely styled like a Super Famicom, but was not packing the latest hardware inside and had a few issues. Fast forward to 2021 and a Bittboy has shipped the PocketGo S30, it’s latest and greatest handheld. Does it compete with ODROID and Anbernic?
Supports NES, SNES, GB, GBA, Genesis/Mega Drive, Neo-Geo, Neo-Geo Pocket, FBA, MAME, PlayStation, Dreamcast, and Wonderswan.

Make sure you have a look at the video from Retro Game Corps as he has added more emulators to it and sorted out some better images. Really looks like it improves things and is a great guide.

Good to know. I like reviewing the devices as they come since with enough time and computer knowledge you can do almost anything. But if I bought this for someone, they may not do all that.

Yeah this video makes this an awesome device 👍
Especially the new video it adds n64 n stuff as option but n64 is really a stretch for it the only problem I have now is lack of fast charge
Bittboy did reach out to me and offer me this handheld for free in exchange for a review, but after I mentioned I already had a preorder they stopped replying to emails. :)
I love the look. But its not as powerful as my Odroid Go Advance and doesn't run my favorite OS...Batocera. So its a no go for me. But man, is it ever beautiful
I just found your chan. and subbed. I only care about SNES emulation. In your opinion, what's the best option for that under $100? Many thanks and take care.
For just SNES you are lucky that, not counting the Super FX games, almost anything can play it. Something like the RG350P (or RG350M if you can find it under $100) would be a good choice with only SuperFX games needing some frameskip. If you want to play SuperFX, then RK2020 or RG351P would be fine too (or even this device if you want to see about getting a different emulator). The only downside if the resolution on those devices is 480x320 which isn't ideal scaling.
@@LohTec Thanks and keep up the good work.
Fun Fact: You can play Super Mario 64 Natively on the Pocket GO V2!
This could be a really nice handheld. Well, actually it is quite nice and feels very good. The only thing worth criticizing here would be the L2 and R2 buttons, as they flip backwards when pressed, which feels a bit odd. The front end of the OS is kept nice and simple, but preview pictures and video snapshots are possible.
However, the main criticism is about the emulators. Unfortunately, they are not set up well for the device. MAME, FBA, FCEUX (NES) and one of the two GBA emulators are ok. The PSX emulator and PICO-Drive need to have aspect ratio adjusted. No meaningful settings possible to get a nice picture - even not with the GB-emulator (Gamebatte). Some minor bugs I noticed as well: One of the GBA emulators ignores the brightness set in the system and in PICO-Drive the FPS display cannot be turned off.
Too bad, even I didn't expect anything groundbreaking, but something more solid. The S30 could have become one of my favorite handhelds - but not this way.
Worst out of the box experience I've had with a device from PocketGo. The S30 definitely needs the right tuning.
It's a shame to sell such a well designed device with this poorly tuned firmware. PocketGo is once again relying entirely on the community.
I'm waiting version Pro for PSP, Dreamcast run better
