I have a wx 5100 and you just completely changed my gaming experience, I went from ~70fps in apex to a stable 120fps, I was trying to juice the most performance from this card for more than 2 years and thanks to you I finally made it, very well done, nice video 👍
My bro I recently got this video card included with a pc i bought and this tutorial on flasing the bios has already changed completely my experience using this card. THANK YOU!!!!
I have a WX 4100 on the way. If I do this right, your tips will get this card close to the WX 5100. That OC was a HUGE uplift in Time Spy so I am psyched! Thank you in advance.
@@LohTec here's hoping then that the trend of overspeccing the parts on workstation cards continues down the product stack! I'll be sure to let you know how successful, or not, I am 👍
@@doby_p yeah it worked fine. The only problem was the voltage. I tried to undervolt it and despite the BIOS flashing fine, using GPUz to monitor the voltage showed that it would still push up to the stock voltage. When I ripped the BIOS off the card to check it, it has the lowered voltages on but they made no difference 😞 managed 2000Mhz on the RAM and 1300 on the core so happy with that. Putting rail power up to 70W was fine but it never actually drew more than 45 on full load
@@michaelclough9499 I've had better success now but you're right, the bios voltages are superseded by the driver settings. I'm not sure if this is something the patch should have patched (and isn't working) or the patch is for clocks only. There is a difference in what the bios editor reports and what Overdrive N Tool reports, with the latter being what see in GPU-Z (because it's pulling from the driver). Unfortunately Overdrive N Tool only works partially on one driver instance from Q4 2017.
I'm trying to use a WX3100 in a USFF build. I think it's currently tripping the PCI-E current protection on the motherboard at full load. I'd guess the max is 40W although I have no official confirmation. Would reducing the TDP TDC and Max Power get the draw under 40W?
Big Issue in my case (WX5100). After flashing, there is a blackscreen during Boot until the Desktop of Operationg system (Windows, Linux) comes up. That means no chance to see UEFI Startsettings or go to Mainboard Bios until i flash back to the Stock Rom. No matter how many settings I change in the Polaris Editor to the mod file.
Yep, depends if your motherboard is locked to only signed BIOS. HP motherboard was for me, gigabyte board was not. This may be an option you can disable in the BIOS. Sometimes fastboot does it, could be something else.
@@LohTec Iam using ASUS. There is an option to disable CFG Lock (useful for Hackintosh builds) but nothing else for GPU. After activating Fastboot it works now
Could you please share your WX4100 bios, edited or stock with me? Mine is misbehaving and none that I've found online appear to work! Thanks in advance and no worries if you can't do it, I know it's a big ask! 🤘🏻
@@LohTec ruclips.net/video/nNIqE10sMGA/видео.html i asked Under this video and they said it's likely a 1650 super/ rx 570, and if I'm not wrong they get a graphics score of 10'000. is this possible?
10000 is in Firestrike, not Timespy. But yes, possible. Here is my result achieving that www.3dmark.com/fs/27479674. A good Firestrike score for a 1650 super is 12-13K in graphics score, ~25% better. So no, not comparable to 1650 Super.
@@LohTec i got 11500 graphic score with a 1 minute overclock. Can you watch the video properly? I got up to 12500 with more tuning and I'm using an i5 4570!
The process should be the same as the WX 4100. There probably won't be faster memory timings but there are faster core versions (925mhz vs 1100 mhz) so you should be able to "overclock" to around there once you raise the power limits.

What were your results with the overclock?
keep it up
very interesting video
the topics you present inspire a lot of people I'm looking forward to future videos ✌🏻
Hey, thanks for the inspiration! Will this likely work with the WX3100 too and do you have any experience with that card?
Should, though haven't tried it personally. Should be basically a RX 550X so the chip should have headroom though maybe not so much the memory.

Is there anything else I need to do before reading the bios? It's unable to read my 5100.
Says bios is non standard size.
Shouldn't be. Are you ripping the bios with GPU-Z? Also make sure you have a Wx5100 and not a W5100.

Yes, though that's a really low limit as it is.

Hi, can you upload your overclocked WX 5100 bios, please? Thank you
Do you need to patch it on Linux too with Mesa drivers?
Could you cut and paste the timing code / strap from the wx5100 over to the 4100?
Helpful. Thank you.
Any chance you can post your wx4100 bios?
Edited or stock?

for the memory on the wx5100 you can go all the way upto 1900 mhz

is the performance of the wx 5100 overclocked comparable to the gtx 1650?
It would be about 10-15% slower, though in some games it could be faster due to more memory/architecture differences.

can you explain why the patcher is required? Do i need it if I want to edit and flash bios on rx 480 using your method?
If you don't use it there is a chance you'll boot to a black screen. Then you'll need to run the pc in safe mode to run the patcher

What happens if you go to update the GPU with a new AMD driver update?
Nothing, but you might need to re patch them.
