    Great job, David. For the headlamps, PlastX works great. It has kept the headlamps on my 90 perfect all these years. The black door handles were 92 only, and made of plastic, not metal. The doors on sedans and wagons, as well as wagon tailgates, are all the same between 67 and 93. Latches did change, but the doors themselves are all the same. The difference between a 140, 160 and 240/260 is all in front of the cowl. If course, 90-93 wagons had different tailgate glass, but the earlier small glass will fit on the later gates, it just doesn't look quite right. The automatic transmission is the AW-70. It will last just about forever if you keep the fluid changed and cool. Mine is at 400,000 miles and still feels about the same as new. Enjoy the new old girl. She will win you over.

      @@michaeltutty1540 The reason I say it is because, I had a 1981 240/244 GL with the Manual Sunroof, the same one David has, and being it is a 1990 model, I would expect it to be a Power Sunroof instead of Manual, I like that it has Cruise Control,I wish I would have stayed with mine, for a 1981, it looked like a new car,, it had very minimal rust,I had managed to put a 3rd stop light got the rear louver,Volvo option, it had Corona alloys or Magwheels, I am not a fan of those hubcaps, mainly because of the brake dust, those steel rims look good, but put a center cap, it looks nice more practical,like the the metal caps that have a V in the center, but if David can get a set of second hand alloys like Coronas,for example, it would make the car look sportier.

    Cars like these are great especially for young people because they make driving fun again... A lot of modern cars are completely numb and detached to drive....you have to drive the new cars REALLY hard to feel anything. But an old Volvo like this, you really appreciate how seriously well made they are, and the epic reliablity, and YOU, yes YOU, can buy some spanners and do any repairs or maintainence with ease. Cars from this era are very reliable, unlike older more classic cars which could be tempremental for starting etc. Honestly I see a lot of young people buying these old 90s cars and I can totally understand why the do....Big old volvo like this literally feels like you are driving a tank.

    Awesome, I was secretly hoping you'd never stop getting 240's! Although I get it. Is this model without AC completely? I don't see the accumulator.

      A loaded F 250 can weigh over 10,000 lbs, and I care not to challenge one. In either car. I had a couple of semesters of physics and calculus. . The Volvo does have a better safety rating, but is a a dog in acceleration, even with a turbo.
      A Cressida is not a Corolla.
      A Cressida was marketed against the 240 series. About 400# heavier. It's a Japanese 5/8 scale Electra Deuce and a Quarter. 3.0 l twin cam six. 190 hp About as glitzy inside as a maxxed out 740. Better quality leather and plastic.

Same blu/blu which I hate, after having gold/tan 245 few years prior. I'm about to sand the outside & paint it with red oxide. oh, & 5 speed is so nice. No more auto for me.

    How easy is it to work on a 240 for someone who knows a thing or two about Volkswagens but not exactly a mechanic here. Had a horrible experience with a ‘97 850 stick shift back in ‘06 and now decades later I’m thinking about getting a ‘90-‘93 240 DL or GL sedan. Any thoughts…… anyone…..? Buehler……. Buehler…….

    I want to install the '93 r134a a/c system; how big a job is it to put a/c into a 240 that didn't have it new?

    Hello David,
    I just subscribed to your channel; love the 240 series, now you have me jonesing for another 240 since my '81 left me some years ago. Slim pickin's though, since 1993 was their final year. Not to mention for junkyard parts, doesn't look good.
    Anyway, a QUESTION...
    I bought a 1990 745 Turbo wagon. (I know that your expertise is more with the 240.) Do have any ideas on accessing the oil separator box for service WITHOUT taking off the intake manifold? Maybe, just maybe get the IAC valve out of the way and sneak the box down through the resulting space? And the reverse for installation of the new part? Coming up dry on ideas!
    Thanks,
    -Chas

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  3 года назад

      Chas, yes you’re on the right track. There are some brackets in the way but you ought to be able to get it with the IAC and wiring pushed out of the way. Be mindful of all hoses and routings.
