I use mine on every carpet job. The only time I touch my Knee kicker now is on a set of steps. Used on an ANGLE it 100% does get a good stretch. I use it for my set walls and closets and halls. Still pole stretcher my main stretches but this has replaced the knee kicker for me. Excellent tool!!!

That is a good point that you made, with large rooms you split the room in half and stretch each end seperately. In fact, when I do really large rooms, I split the room into quarters, to get a good stretch on it.
Also, I have been using the Kneeless for many years and all I use to protect the pins is a piece off 2" styro foam on each end. Great review for a great tool!!!!

I appreciate your honest evaluation. I thought you were going to say it would replace a power stretcher. Definitely a good Knee Kicker replacement though.

Thank you for the description of how the tool works, especially keeping it at an angle. That makes sense.
The only thing missing from the video is taking this installation from where it's at and stretching it with a power stretcher to show how much farther it would stretch.
I totally agree with you about using it for hooking the carpet on the tacks, prior to using a real stretcher with poles.
I think you are being kind to the guy that created the kneeless stretcher by not using a power stretcher afterwards to show the difference between the two.
There's no way you can compare the stretch between the two tools however I am totally in agreement with you about using that tool to hook the carpet on the tacks instead of using a kicker.
It looks like a fantastic tool for angled walls and closets.

The pole stretcher was invented before action backing. You can over stretch a carpet with a pole. Carpet manufacturers accept kneeless for warranty if done properly. I recently did a stretch and tuck to 3' and a 6' tile edge to finish off the job. Minimum 60 Oz softback plush. With my kneeless i could barely get a 1/4" on the width and needed 3/4". Out to the truck for the poles lol. 5' 4x4 to disperse the weight. Tough at that. Never seen that in newer carpet.

Excellent video! Just want to confirm that the Kneeless is a top quality tool, and "does exactly what it's supposed to do".. It's worth every penny..
It is definitely worth every penny it does not take the place of a power stretcher It only takes the place of the kicker
Where do I get one
Ive used one for 8 years. It's good for full time use in apartment grade carpet. Also good for full time use in residential small rooms. Heavy weight large rooms is when I get the pole stretcher out. The right tool for the right job. Do you need a power stretcher in a closet? NO. Likewise, you have a 30' cut 50oz carpet, break out the power stretcher.

Really hard to get hold of these in the UK and ordered an import similar to this from the US. About three times the cost of Kicker but this looks more effective. Installed my own carpets since moving house during the pandemic when you couldn't get anyone to come and fit a carpet.
I haven't used a knee kicker for years after buying this.
Had back and leg problems from using a traditional kicker touch wood no problems so far

Thank you. It IS better than a knee kicker, but it is NOT as good as a power (pole) stretcher. Nice for closets or small areas but it is not the answer to stretching without poles.

Kneeless is amazing sir, the first stretch can be straight just to hook the pins and give the back head something tight to push off of and stop backwards loss, you angle after first stretch and then I come back and overlap first stretch on my way back because its worthless, as soon as you begin to angle off of hooked carpet is when your actually stretching, 13 feet or so is my max, something bigger or with bubbles the power stretcher comes out

This is my favorite, Triforce has recently went out of business due to health issues
Its an intersting one, as most of us in the uk kick everything unless its a really big room (british standards says over 5m or 16ft3). If its better than a kicker its probably worth its weight in gold in the uk. But ive never seen one

You have a router now and the holes were a pain to drill in the protector pads. Maybe just rout out the whole teeth pattern instead of trying to drill out each individual tooth.
I thought about that and then I was thinking that the surrounding age would be thin and fragile, this way with individual holes it is almost like a solid chunk of wood that will hold up for a long time, thank you for the recommendation though
Your right, much more sturdy with just the drilled holes.

I use that tool all day. Doesn't matter how long the room. Here's the skinny. Square room 10'×10' one doorway. Soft stretch and lock the corner #1 and go across the doorway to corner #2. Stretch twice hard straight across and lock. Finish the wall and doorway with soft STRAIGHT stretches and lock the whole wall. Go to corner #3( kitty corner from #1) and stretch on the angle hard. Then stretch hard straight away from #2. One more stretch on the 45° and lock. (here's where you do a quick lock and pinch of 2 inches in the middle of last wall to prevent movement from your next stretch) Finish that side wall with one STRAIGHT soft stretch and lock whole wall. Release your 2 inch lock. Hard stretch between #3 & #4 and between #4 & #1 and the 45°(all 3 angles). Hard stretch that wall and lock. Then a hard stretch on the last wall. Lock carpet on all tackless as you go if the wall is complete. I worked clockwise starting from the right as you enter the room... if that helps.
Now pay attention son...this is where your technique needs some love. Less space between your stretching; no more than 3". You keep dragging the carpet on the angle creating unnecessary buckles. Too much angle on your tool. Couple ways to skin the cat here. After the corners are locked you will have 2 walls to stretch hard. You can split the wall by starting in the middle of each wall and work to the corners or do from corner to corner non stop. ALTERNATE your angle on every 3rd stretch and keep your angle lower...just enough for the stretch to bypass the rear head. A quick prestretch and then stretch and hold is a hard stretch. You almost have that down. VERY important you lean back and put your weight on the rear head to achieve a good stretch.(Sometimes I will lift the carpet with my stretcher cuz of bunching) After 15' I would recommend those last 2 walls stretched twice. After 20' 3 times. Most of us would have the 2 soft stretch walls 1/4" up the baseboard so no cutting required. After doing my corners and 2 soft walls I will crease the carpet on the last 2 walls and trim them then stretch. I would install circles around you lol. Although I have the poles, I rarely pull them out. On big rooms soft walls get the final hard stretch until I'm happy. I do repair work and service calls and work out of my mini van. Bad installers keep me in business. Biggest problem is lack of stretching cuz they kick and pad too close to the tackless. I use a hooked knife like the old days and a retractable grey Richard's knife combined with a sharpening stone. Stair tool is for stairs but some like to drag it around the job like an old girlfriend. When I see suicide knives come out, I cringe. I can waterfall a 5' Scarlett O'Hara staircase with double bird cages with no staple gun. Hand stitching w/ latex on the bottom stair and tackless bridges for the perfect uniform sides (envelopes). Still picking up a trick or 2 after all these years.

I have used it on every kind of carpet pretty much and I have not had any issues at all, even commercial cut pile in churches and pattern Carpet And traditional commercial carpet

I don't like pushing carpet in between strip and base. I Have a hard time trimming. That is why the spreader is the only tool i use.

Why does it sound like its tearing the carpet with every pull. And not just this video. Every video i watched on this tool sounds the same. Thats why i prefer the frog stretched adapter

@@frijolito2123 No you cannot adjust them, however I have not had any issues with the length of the pins, I have not had any issues with this at all i think it is a great tool all the way around

Except the stinger utilizes the whole power head
And the fact you can use it on a slab
You can get a better stretch with a spike

this will be good for cheap streachy backings, but when you go into high end carpets its worthless backing is too stiff and that's where is money is, nowadays even cheap carpet backing is stiff

I just received my kneeless stretcher, I haven't used it yet. My worry is that the spikes are so long it's going to damage some carpets. Is this good for all types of carpet?

That's why I don't touch carpet anymore not goign to lie that kicker just isn't worth it. Hard surfaces is a little easier on the body.

If you use it in situations like I talked about in this video it is well worth $400 to never kick a kicker again , I definitely We’ll always have one even if I had about one every few months

I bought the kneeless because of this video. I'm very disappointed! It only stretches from where the knee sits to the head of the stretcher. It's useless it won't pull ripples out. Its only good to tack back carpets.
If that is the case you are using the toll wrong, look at the videos on the website that you bought it from they will help you use it properly

Then it wrinkles in a month and they pay me to come kick it in. There's a thousand carpet Contraptions out there and none of them work like a knee kicker/ power stretcher and a good old tack hammer. Them power stretcher spikes are trash, all two-way stretchers are junk , and those Robert's wheel tools don't lock the tack strip Nails into the carpet. If you don't got the shoulders to properly rub the tack strip Nails into the carpet and you don't have the knees to kick it then you should be doing something else for work.
