  • How do you review an SUV? I drove the Tata Hexa from Mumbai to McLeodganj and back on an EPIC road trip that covered 4300 kilometres to conclude that the Hexa is best in its class by a mile.

The most honest feedback of Hexa. I have a manual 4*4 version of it. Having driven it for more than 20k Kms, mostly on lone stretches this beast doesn't let u feel sluggish. Amazing drive quality. Amazing AC and comfort level. I had driven Scorpio and XUV 500 and believe it or not, Tata Hexa literally decimates its rivals in driving pleasure. Proud to own this machine. Value for money product. Love u Mr. Ratan Tata.

I'm upgrading from Getz, so i tried i20(my first choice) and baleno(my second choice) but then after trying nexon, I decided it's TATA this time coz of the feel, safety, luxury and comfort. I was more confused between nexon and hexa. Actually I don't know why I even sat and tried my hands on hexa coz it's the ultimate however, I can't afford it at the moment so simply booked a red nexon.
Well done TATA for upgrading 👍

Make sure you get the diesel Nexon because the petrol is not anything special, in that area the EcoSport is much better.
But the diesel Nexon is an absolute *ROCKET* I own a 2017 model year diesel XZ+ and boy, is it addictive on the highway!!

The best coastal drive!! But then u can report any specific engine oil company who can sponsor ur trip, Data on some particular tyre life, Vista car care kits, overall service costs.. Any further improvement company can do.. Hope this should give you and company a reliable product against those q5,Benz,BMW, etc.. Boy those are good butttt service cost is hell !!! Confused for now, between the hexa and the safari, I test drove the automatic hexa and I really loved it, but I am kind of more inclined towards the safari especially due to its looks, also there is a news going around that the safari is getting the hexa's automatic gearbox, thus I will wait for a while to decide, n btw great review, keep it up ;)

I own a XTA model, the car is super comfy for a family of 4 of us and one point that you talked about is that, yes you do get the outside smell coming inside the cabin most of the times. I haven't been able to figure out what the issue is till date. I must say your review was pin perfect, my experience of the car matches word to word with what you said after driving it since 1st Feb when I bought it.

I drove my ford figo along with my family over this new year vacation period for nearly 6000 kms from Delhi to Kerala via Jaipur, Udaipur, Vadodara, Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Khandala, Mangaluru, Goa, Madgao, Alleppy Kerala. Yes, I felt the need of an SUV but as you mentioned that this Hexa also felt a bit of fatigue, I feel that my ford figo is still good (mine is an 7 year old car). And yes, food while I traveled across, was truely awesome, met with so many nice people who were willing to help whenever you need.

    Hi Ankit,
Greetings from Boston!!! Your video is really insightful and gives good cues about long hauling experience with the car. I'm planning to gift my Dad a car and was confused in-between Innova Crysta AT & Hexa. The video has definitely helped me to better evaluate my choices.
Appreciate you sharing your experience of 10 day trip. Keep doing more videos like this.

I dont want 4x4 in automatic but there is no ESP in XTA varient rite ? So how could I keep my family safe without ESP. I am that strong on ESP because now I am using Mahindra XUV 500 it has ESP and it helped me so many times.

Brother I had a drive with Hexa,I can say that I felt comfortable,no jerking no hickich, the suspension was ultimate, the view from driving seat like we are in commanding position,if we compare to innova,it almost reached it but the power made some difference, and my fuel economy was much higher than yours, 15.4kmpl, I also went country side, drown over Karnataka's speed breakers, the ground clearance gave me extra support driving off road, there are so many I can't explain what I felt about the car.

I own Tiago Diesel which I bought in April, 2016. Almost first batch of Tiago as Sanand plant is in Gujarat. Almost all of people around me mocked for going with TATA but I trusted Tata's build quality. Today Tiago is Tata's highest selling cat ever. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE. I can get almost 24-26kmpl on highway. Annual maintenance is around 2500-4000 even if you get serviced it from Tata. Owning a Hexa is my next Goal.

Drove 350 km non stop including traffic jam and must say almost no fatigue...confort is top noch..only few drawbacks are engine garle sound at 1500 rpm and the glossy material inside picks up straches...other that that its a very good car..i chose this car after test driving all cars in this segment.
About build quality recently by mistake my leg slipped from pedel and hit a car infornt and zero damage to my car and the other had bumper out....
    Well deserved 4.7 / 5

I have test driven hexa on a non existent road where a normal car just cannot go and the hexa made me feel like I am driving on a highway. This cars suspension will put a mercedes air suspension to shame and I am not overstating. Tatas suspension setup is simply best in class and you simply glide over the worst of roads and speed breakers without slowing down.

If I have to buy a big car one day if will definitely be the Hexa. Few areas of improvement for Tata motors to make it even better are: storage spaces, bigger touchscreen system with all the bells/ whistles and second row seat folding function like Innova.

Okay!! I saw your review and must say it helps me a bit to form my opinion on what to buy. I was driving an Innova till some time back and now am looking to switch. Choices- obviously XUV and then someone suggested Hexa. Just answer a few questions -
    1. How many Hexa's have been sold since Jan 2017.
    2. If the Hexa is as WOW as you make it out to be, why arent there too many Hexa's on the road?
    3. If YOU were to buy a car with your own hard earned money, would it be the Hexa?
    4. What is the after sales service setup?
    5. Can we talk separately? A phone number, maybe!

Hi, myself Arahant, from Bangalore. I'm thinking of a 29-states road trip across India. I plan to start my journey from Kanyakumari. Still not decided on the dates yet. I have a Verna fluidic, but i prefer an SUV, and was thinking hexa itself. You mentioned TATA lent you the car, right? Can you specify how did you approach them? And also, can you tell me what are the main requirements for a long distance road trip?

Beautiful review. Can you please tell which would be a better buy Hexa or XUV500? A little suggestion take a wireless microphone as hanging wire distracts.

ABHISHEK PRASAD Hexa has premium quality interior and better ride quality than xuv500.

Nice and genuine analysis bro. I wonder why people go for Toyota Innova Crysta which is less comfortable and congested. It drives me crazy bro. Thanks so much. I would recommend they hexa auto to someone looking to buy this size of car. Keep it up bro.

Hi ankit that's really nice to see that you did a long drive..But tell me how is the build quality of this 2800kg car,is it comparable with sturdy quality of jeep compass, and why do not we request tata motors to go NCAP's rating.
    If you can comment..
And why do not we put safety first and emphasizes on road crash quality of a crash ..We do not mention this in car reviews why..

What you will say, about the basic 4x2 manual hexa vehicle, mid version? Please also let me know about it resale value.? While journey did you face any sort of problem in narrow roads, engine or stirring issues? I agree there is less space for keeping things near driver seat as well as back and ac noise is little bit noisy only at front side, we have to reduce it.

I drove TATA Harrier yesterday, but not Hexa, my brother own's a Tiago. The feel of Harrier is superb, its a top notch car made by any INDIAN brand even XUV500 is bit low comparatively. I loved the JBL sound sys, A/C chilling time is too good, One thing i loved the most is the Steering feel and finish, it feels like a luxury car. for such a car they could have got any other more powerful engine. yet the car is Superb. I appreciate the build quality of TATA.

Hi Ankit. Which of the two versions whether it's manual or automatic transmission of Hexa you would suggest to go for. Have confusion over it.
