    Love these kinds of quick tips videos!
    Question for you Mathias, prior to Bitwig, what was your primary DAW of choice? Also, did you wait a long time before making the switch to bitwig, expecting some key features to be available first?
    Has Bitwig checked all the boxes for you now, to the point you wouldn’t consider going back to any other DAW?

      Hi, I was a very esrly adopter of Bitwig. Can’t recall if it was 1.0 or 2.0. 😂 but pretty early on. I use Bitwig for hybrid electronic tracks. But for film scoring and vocal / guitar recording I mostly do still use Logic Pro because it feature tools that I rely on…like Low Latency Monitoring, video support, instant render of audio to video, sheet music, and I know the sound lib / instruments inside out… I use 3 daws simultanously. Bitwig, Logic Pro and FL Studio. Love them for what they are. Just tools. 😃

    Best bitwig tutor ! Beside easy to understand approaches to explain something deep , you`re also always providing nice music examples , not just bunches of noises . Thanks

    Thanks Mathias, more of these please. Btw when inserting silence, you can just select the whole of the track by dragging in the bar number area and it highlights the whole section instead of having to drag whole section.

    Great video- dig the pacing and depth! I'm on the hunt for how to solve the frustrations I have with needing my mouse for so much of Bitwig's piano roll- really miss Ableton's hotkeys (e.g. shift-left/right to change note length). Hoping you've mentioned this somewhere in your other videos :)

    Thanks so much for the great tip with the pause in the track. Because when moving a track with automation I always have the automation points shifted and it's bad.I don't know how to fix it. I know that you can enable “move with automation”, but the points are still shifting and very much.
    I'm looking forward to part two of the video on how to match melody notes to chords.You had a video of the fifth circle for beginners.

      Hi Michail, Yes Circle of fifths for beginners is part of my bigger "Music Theory course" found here: edu.morningdewmedia.com/product/music-theory-for-beginners I only release a few selected episodes from that course for FREE, as "showcase teasers" for the bigger course. That said I do post regular music theory stuff on my main YT channel too, and instagram / TikTok etc.

      @@MattiasHolmgren if it's helpful to add the following: there seems to always remain a disconnect between the developers of software, the writers of any manuals, and the "end user". So, as the latter I could read the user guide all day and still not pick up on something like that automation of notes from within the channel strip.
      Videos like yours are really illuminating when they might point out "obvious" features
      👌😄

    I still seem to have problems creating a workflow environment around recording simple audio tracks. I want to record myself playing various instruments like guitar, bass, keyboard etc. and I keep having trouble just getting a recording track started because I feel there's so many extra buttons and things to learn that are getting in the way of just hitting the record button and making tracks get recorded and lining them up together. any advice is welcome, and I have been watching your videos for many moons now. I watched you explain how to record tracks in other videos and I still feel that every time I set aside time to sit down and try it, that I keep getting bogged down in trying to learn how to operate Bitwig, and find myself not even recording any tracks at all. something is still off where I am getting disconnected on the user friendliness side of the program, even though it clearly offers a million extra features I'll likely never use. I decided to settle on Bitwig to learn over FL Studio and Ableton and Cubase as a beginner self taught sound engineer who is trying to create a simple small home studio recording work environment. or I can sit around playing guitar for another 30 years with nothing to show for it...

      I hear you! Did you join my Bitwig Maaterclass? In that we go into the basic workflow of recording and editing audio and workflows. I’ll try to do a quick episode on my typical workflow of audio recording vocals / guitars and the really quick n easy editing involved that will hopefully give you hints to get going more efficiently in Bitwig. Thanks! 🥁🎹🎸🥳

    Hi Mathias ! Great job on all these tips for Bitwig all the years . Very informative indeed . As someone having shifted towards this i do have one question , and that is hardware related . I noticed i am aware of KI komplete as a dc coupled device u have used . And now in the market there is also more quality and affordable options like the Minifuse 2 and Uad volt series . Will any of these also be sufficient?

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  Месяц назад

      Hi, yeah I think any of the interfaces you suggested would suffice for dc coupling to modular gear. Appreciate your feedback greatly! Thanks a ton! 🙏😄🌞🎸

    The insert silence, did that move the following track forward? It did not look like that? It looks like delete. Thanks for good stuff.

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  2 месяца назад +1

      It moves the area (shifts) forward. So nothing is deleted 👌🥁😃

    Great Tricks Mathias. Thnx! What disappoints me with Bitwig is when using 3rd party heavy hungry plugins, the performance is really very annoying. To Bounce is more annoying. However, nice one, ciao ciao!

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  2 месяца назад

      Big thanks! 🙏 Oh what do you feel is weird with bouncing? I never had any problems running 3rd party plugs in my projects. But maybe you typically use more tracks than me!? What heavy plugs are u working with?

      @@MattiasHolmgren yes I use for every instrument channel an instrument (pigments, serum, hive, etc.) and they all have inserted fx from pluginalliance, ssl, etc. sometimes 5 to 8 fx each....compr./eq/saturation/clipper/ducker/delay/reverb/sounddesign tools.........reaper cam handle it extremly well, but i don't like reaper. Sometimes Cubase is my DAW too......and now Ableton Live's 12 version looks good and most for me important influenza producer in RUclips use it 😋😂

      Maybe file a support ticket? I feel it should def also shift those when you perform ”insert silence”.

    Nice tips, thank you! Some constructive feedback: i usually like more in depth videos personally, so I get that this is more aimed towards those swiping through a feed on the subway at low or no volume, but: The jumping large subtitles near your face are so distracting I almost couldn't finish. Again, I get why you'd try it, but also, as soon as I see that happening in a video I hoover over, I assume it's going to be tiktok-trash and move on. (Påpekar detta för att jag gillar dina videos snarare än tvärt om; har sett så många kanaler sabbas av shorts-trenden, och det är givetvis bara min egen åsikt =), ha det gott!)
