Gyllenhaal's performance in Nightcrawler was by far the best lead male performance that year and he wasn't even nominated. The only ones who were nominated that actually deserved it were Steve Carrell for Foxcatcher and Michael Keaton for Birdman. The other nominees should have been Tom Hardy for Locke, Timothy Spall for Mr. Turner, and Oscar Issac for A Most Violent Year. Of course they had to go for performances in generic biopics like Eddie Redmayne in theory of everything and Benedict Cumberbatch in the imitation game. Bradley Cooper was good in American Sniper but no where near Gyllenhaal, Keaton, Carrell, Spall, Hardy, or Issac

This trailer brought tears in my eyes and so many memories.My husband lost both his legs in an explosion when our baby boy was only 3 months. This trailer looks like our story.It's been a long painful journey but by God's grace and strength we're using this tragedy to bring Him glory. May our lives be instruments to bring Him glory even through a tragedy.

The knee was sticking out further than his other one, and he didn't pass out, nor was there any blood dripping when they were rolling him down the street. It was done by Chris Kyle the American Snipers mercenary team Craft International. It was an inside job.

Lala pop you're completely taking a different approach to looking at this than I am. And you're also coming off extremely arrogant.
Firstly, yes I do watch all of the nominated movies every year and I have for quite some time now, there's probably only 2 or 3 movies in the last 10 years that I haven't seen pre Oscars just due to me being in Australia and not having access to it. Me and my family are super competitive and place bets on the Oscars every year, we go all out.
But far out, I don't have a photographic memory. I can't remember everyone he's been up against every year, and I'm not gonna spend 30 minutes looking it all up just to appease you. Especially considering all the times he's been snubbed from a nomination.
The point I was making is that he, like Leo has an extensive collection of great roles, and just because someone kept "one upping" Leo every year, didn't mean he wasn't an Oscar deserving actor.
Jake has such a collection of great work, and IN MY OPINION that outweighs some random who scored a good role and made one good movie. I would like Jake to be rewarded for his consistent hard work.
Some of his Oscar worthy roles are Nightcrawler, Southpaw, Demolition, Brokeback Mountain, Nocturnal Animals, and that's just off the top of my head. Prisoners and Zodiac are also some of my favourite movies that I would agree aren't Oscar worthy, but are still wonderful roles that he has portrayed. And I'm so excited to watch Okja this weekend. I know I'm forgetting a really good role but whatever I've named enough.
To say he isn't of Oscar caliber is absurd.
Milly Borkovic an Oscar is given to specific performances, not consistent hard work.
Jake Gyllenhaal has never in his entire career given the best male performance of a year, thus, and quite simply, he is not deserving of an Oscar.
That he is constantly good doesn't matter, he was never the best and that's what matters and that's why he has no Oscar and why that will likely remain that way for a long time.
Because there's always one actor with a better performance.

Yo when a movie trailer makes you go through a slew of emotions in under 3 minutes, along with the fact that this looks to have a solid cast, you know it's gonna be good.
The first half of the trailer looks promising whereas the second just seems like generic inspiring film even using one of the most overused songs for it, Gyllenhaal looks incredible though I hope it's good
