My issues with the game are numerous. 1. They have allowed persistent bugs to go unchecked for over 16 months (housing calculations, furniture sinking into floors, crooked paintings/valences, etc). Even though I myself have reported these on multiple occasions, along with a myriad of others. 2. No customer service. No GM's. No ability to get what you paid for. I hit 300 territory standing over a month ago and did not get my last card pop up (which has the last 5 housing items) and after three attempts to communicate the bug, nothing has been done to fix my account nor have they reached out. 3. No way to reliably report bugs anymore, especially not being able to share screenshots or video links. This alone is extremely telling of their position. NO GAME DEVELOPER wants to brush rugs under the carpet. 4. Cheating in PVP is massive. The amount of animation cancelling/macro useage is out of control. Some players use damage exploits, there is no way a fire staff is going to pillar 8k crits on someone with 5x resilience, 200 con and 4x fire resist gems on top of a fire resist necklace...and yet specific players do this to my constantly. Multiple reports have been filed and nothing has been done. The bottom line is that New World is like buying a new car and every time you take it to the dealership to fix a broken part due to bad manufacturing, instead of fixing the car, they just try to sell you something while completely ignoring the broken parts. That lack of commitment to the customer is EXTREMELY TELLING of their overall position. They are not interested in investing into the customers, only interested in selling you more junk.
Animation cancelling has completely ruined OPR and Wars. I stopped engaging in them. Then the realization hits that there is little else to do. Easy anti cheat should easily catch people using timed macros. I don't understand why amazon does nothing about it.

The real end game is to run mutations to get umbral shards so you can run higher mutations for more umbral shards. Once you have ran enough dungeons to fully 625 your best gear set you are basically running them to sell umbral shards.
Or you are late to the game and everyone is min/max'd racing through m10's Yet you need umbral shards to get one set of gear to 625 for PVP and the most efficient way to get them is PVE but....
They've made it much easier to grind umbrals. That being said it does feel bad for those running lower muts, I used to run them to help people out but now with the mut limit I dont do it often. I'm hoping with cross world opr making it's debut that cross world mutations will open it up as well. That being said they definitely need to add more options to end game options.

4:40 it's all quite empty though, I swear if they just focused on random encounters and world events. Brimstone Sands wouldn't be an empty desert with only chest runs and a single dungeon. It still feels like they have 10 devs working on the game, I see WoW private servers with 5 devs pump out more content than AGS.
Their just killing off their player base slowly and slowly and in a years time wondering why they only have 2 servers open per region and 3k ppl playing max lol

I restarted NW after the beginning of S1, I was like GS520 or more and I played until reaching 615. After that, grinding mutation was boring and I started to play less and I quit the game after 3 weeks, the reason I restarted the game was for preparing for the raid, and now here it is, the raid is out on the PTR... and it's really bad. A single boss for a raid is not a raid even if it's hard like for me I really dodged a bullet to be tired and not preparing for that, I'm really disappointed and I don't think the expension will made me play again, maybe if I have no other game to play because at least it's free.
1. They need to introduce unique gear, with unique perks that can only be optained by doing certain activities. ATM, crafting is King and it's boring 2. Remove Gear Score. Vanilla WOW was hard but it was the most rewarding, because a purple item you get at lvl 55 was still great at 60. 3. Make the world feel dangerous. Make monsters stronger and enable PVP in high lvl zones. 4. Rework POI's. Chest runs have a ton of garbage drops and are boring. 5. If they add mounts, I hope they will remove a lot of azoth shrines...
We're at a point (EUC) where even at prime gaming hours outside the weekend, there are barely any M10s going on, sometimes arena queue takes 10min+ etc. Game is at it's lowest point in playerbase in NWs history. And this scares me. Because the new season/ new content really has to be a banger to even get numbers up again in a short term, not even talking about long term. And with the absolute neglect towards PvP content (I mean REAL new content like a PvP zone, an open world PvP rewards rework, new game modes etc.) and now the fail sandworm is at he moment - loot and difficulty-wise... yikes. I love this game. I just want to play it and feel rewarded and have fun. Is that so much?

if mutation is easy then there're a lot of lobbies. Stop lying. I'm honestly tired of people saying the game is dead. Other mmos exist even with less population but no it's NW what is dying. All of the brain dead reddit is full of comments like that, every youtuber buries the game. I don't understand how people still measure online when it's end of season/expansion in mmos(don't forget it's summer).

I think you hit the nail on the head that there is plenty of content, but no motivation to do it. That is exactly how I feel for most of it. Everyone is tired of shitty rewards and multiple layers of RNG built into the reward systems. I believe the number one reason gear sucks so bad is the fact that there are required perks to run the most popular content and gear simply not having bane, attunement, ward, or resilient makes it almost completely useless. That is my #1 problem with those perks. It's not that I can't put together all the sets. It's that it makes everything else complete shit. I strongly believe the only way to make gearing fun in NW is to stop designing content around people having certain perks. Otherwise, think about it, most players are running around with two perk purple gear. If one of those perks is taken by something that's required, then that only leaves one extra perk for them to build with. That's so boring. Everyone ends up with the exact same gear. Then chances of upgrading it are so slim so many don't even bother. The only other option vs getting rid of those perks that I can think of is they make good legendaries easier (not trivial) to obtain. This way people at least have two perks to work with (2 + ward/res/bane/attunement).
I posted this blurb in a few spots a month ago. "I'd like to see the ward/shirking/resi type gear not stack. Just make it like 8-10%(if that much) on one piece of armor that doesn't stack. So much really good armor just gets stuck in a shed or salvaged because it won't become part of a full ward/resi type set. This would really help armor being used for both PVP and PVE. The possiblities on the armor would explode if every piece of armor didn't have to have this "mandatory" perk of something like a ward or resi. type. Even the Aversions, dump the stacking and just make the perk a little stronger for the armor it's on. The "BIS" would really be for the individual and the weapon they are using with all the extra possiblities not being taken up by these "mandatory" stacking perks. Crafters wouldn't lose so much if armor could still be good if it didn't have one of those stackers. imo" Too much stacking makes so much good gear worthless.
Great ideas. Most people who support these perks like ward as-is think if they aren't needed on every piece, then everyone would get BIS instantly and quit the game. They are thinking way too narrow minded. Even without ward I would have so many sets I'd want to build and I'd be more willing to try new weapons or unusual builds.
I agree that specific perks should be more often found in certain places and I think mutation bosses should actually have a good unique weapon or armor. When I got my first Isabella’s Rapier I was so excited till I saw it’s stats. I feel like stuff like that should have a unique perk only to that weapon(doesn’t need to be op af, just unique and usable). Like imagine it had a perk called Isabella’s Revenge where it did a small amount more of backstab damage compared to rogue if the target was affected by a bleed. And why Naishatun doesn’t drop his signature bow seems like a missed opportunity; just a couple examples.
i cut down on playing the game... i can't get the excitement of trying to improve my gears when it will be reset in a few months... won't get much pt at dungeons with gears of 600-610... i just run around... but it's difficult to get other weapons and armors with low gears... but then again aiming to reach 625 now is like a waste.... might just go online to do some ecr and log off...
Why don’t they add world bosses that drop parts of specific recipes to craft amazing BOPs they could even use the new alliance system and make them large fights… I’ve been saying this for months now
Good remarks. Gear reset PR fiasco was just mindbogling diaster. I had to ask devs couple of times before I received straight answer confirming it. And if they want gear reset, allow for clear crafting without RNG element.

I was never a fan of the tacked-on gypsum orb and then umbral shard systems used to increase your weapon expertise to 600 and then to 625. I would have preferred a more natural system which simply extended the current weapon mastery system we already have to increase expertise instead. They could even add an expertise system for tools. An expertise system shouldn't involve armor and jewelry at all in my opinion. Just let us craft or loot for better and better gear like most MMOs.
No way in hell I am going to continue if I need to reinvest all my time to get new gear. Millions of gold. As a pvp player Not one piece of gear I wear came from a drop. It came from an auction house and thousands of hours (3000) to get where I am farming to get the coin. Pvp events need to provide pvp gear. Period. Pve stuff should provide pve gear. I enjoy the OPR Arenas but to reinvest the time again. Gah!!! Unless they make it where gear you need comes from playing what you enjoy it’s over. It should be playing that gets you gear, not coins. Right now companies with the millions control everything and have the year cause they have the money. Others always lag behind and are trying to catch up while they are getting owned by the cash cows. This team needs to look at how pvp mmos like DAOC and Warhammer online did their gear.

5K hrs. Done with the game. I´ll play now and then a couple hrs but I have understood that there is no way to have fun, like a game you actually enjoy consistently for what it is. It is extremely annoying in some aspects, especially PvP. You want ez OPR? Just make a group and stomp on all the randies. You can even pretend you are actually good. Then, IF you manage to get some of those people that will not play without advantage to a low hp, guess what? they have a boyfriend behind to get them to full hp PLUS other 2 or 3 minions coming straight at you for defying their premeditated advantage lmao. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. If you are a weak scared person then maybe this is the game for you, just find a male gang bang group and voila, you will kick ass in this game. Easy, no sweat and you will simply not die, its even boring tbh. I prefer solo than the stupid group for opr 100%. Wars? you have to no-life game or suck bf making roster, and well it´s just opr in a fort map with 100 players. PvE must be one of the biggest "meh" in the genre. NW is not worth your time at this point. Trust me.

I quit new world a while ago because you can clearly tell the devs don’t give a shit about the small loyal player base. They want bigger numbers to test shit on for there upcoming lord of the rings bs.
New world like many games it trying to pander to hardcore, muh old fashion manually made group content, the average casual wont be bothered with that which is a problem in any game that tries to be oldschool. Also mmos are about gear progression, they are about GRINDING to get that max and perfect gear set. But in new world the ridiculous amount of perks makes drops worthless in that regard, i stopped even looking, i just salvage. After the huge grind of getting everything to 200, trophies and gear I can finally make 2 perk items but I cannot afford to roll the dice to get the 3rd perk of choice item because embroideries and mats like that are incredibly expensive and not really farmable, so no realistic way to getting the perfect 3/3 perfect traits items which kinda makes you feel like why bother
I'm a pretty casual player, hearing about a gear reset killed it for me tbh Why would I build up my char just to get it wiped some time after...something I will never understand/like about MMOs
New World was shit from day one and I was SUPER EXCITED for it too! They should have went the way of FFXI 1.0 and shut down, update, rework, recreate, remap and relaunch. They had a shit game, with so many problems, that they tried to force down our throat and tell us that a shit sandwich was Ribeye Steak! They are making a game THEY WANT, not a game, with graphics and a system WE WANT!
Funny, today I went back in game, mainly just to do the 10 a day nonsense and to manage my trade post orders. A group wanted to do the M1 shipyard, so I did it to help them on the dead server. Frist run, we wipe on the tigers, so we get bronze. 2nd run one of the tigers is bugged and on top of the cage. The moron devs have that mechanic, where switching weapons "in combat" is prohibited for some reason. None of us could go ranged, except the healer. We are all standing there looking at the tiger, while the healer takes the tiger from 100% heath to dead. The game is such a POS that the wall does not open-up after, so we can move on. We drowned ourselves in the water and do it again... so we get bronze again. I leave the game for awhile. I comeback on, and do some fiber farming. A group wants to do shipyard regular, and keeps asking for a tank in recruitment for 30+ minutes. Like a fool, I put on heavy gear set and join as a tank. I keep agro 90% of the time on the mobs and bosses. Wittle boy DPS asks me if I'm stupid in group chat, because I could not get agro on one of the tigers. I take the tiger I got argo on for a walk to the side, so wittle DPS failures can take down the one tiger. One of the DPS failures did not even make it to the tigers and was out on the first phase of the boss fight, even though I had agro the whole time. Some of the DPS were attacking the boss through me... and they were surprised when they got hit. We get to final boss, and I have agro... all of the DPS failures die by the time boss is 50% health. Healer and I finish-off the boss. DPS loser keeps crying about the tigers and me. I DM him to go f himself and tell him off. He cries that I'm rude. Yeah, real fun game... totally well thought-out. Good luck ever getting me to tank or heal for any lower level group, because I'm never doing it. Total waste of time. Getting 5 people do an event or expedition is hard, so obviously devs want to make 10 and 20 player groups. I'm sure that will not workout well, especially with all of the free-riders and idiots playing the game.
Devs are absolute potatoes. Probably won't spend any actual amount of time till the expansion. Seems like a waste of time to play till then. With that being said, not really into the PvE side of the game. I do PvE simply to stay competitive in PvP.
The problem is, IF 625 gear is going to be obsolete, then as you mentioned WHERE are we going to get new gear? If all the current expeditions/mutations aren't changed, the problem of no endgame content will only be exacerbated. If they are changed, the gear will be trivial to re-aquire and moving the goalpost will have been pointless. Nothing in the game is hard NOW. Giving players more stats will only make it even easier. (assuming they don't quit over the idea of rebuilding ALL their gear sets again)
One of the main things I liked about new world was the fact there were no gear wipes. They should only ever do perk revamps and introduce new weapons to shake up the gear meta every once in a while
100% Here's my hope (*inhales Copium*). The expasion currently has; Zone, Weapon, Dungeon, Heartrune, same as BS. Mounts are nice, but not huge "content". They said they are away what callling it an expansion means (BS wasn't), so I'm *really* hoping there is a lot more to it that we know about. All the other changes are trying to fix existing systems. For the gear reset to work it has go all out, otherwise they should do a rework as you say. i.e. _every_ peice of gear needs redone. It will be a disaster if they go half way and leave all the existing "crap" (RNG drops, weapons only used for leveling crafting, existing dungeon drops etc), but then have "new gear" that can be increased via a new system to 650. So I have to hope they know this and have spent the time, redoing it all. That's a huge amount of work (as you point out), but otherwise I just don't see why they can call this an expansion, when currently it looks the same as BS (except with mounts).
I might have inhaled lots of copium too, but they said when the released the roadmap that they were not telling about everything. I hope they thought about most of these issues during the development and that they will hype the fuck out of everybody with suprise content when they will launch the expansion trailer! *sorry guys, I got to go grab some more copium I just ran out of it*
I think you checked all the boxes on New World for me. New World is a game that I really want to spend hours on (still) grinding, collecting, gathering, crafting, but at the end of the day it just doesn't seem worth it. Max all you trade skills, get all the gear, make all the coin and you're done. I just don't feel I'm getting my times worth anymore.
For me. My end game for NW started when AGS leaked the Hard Reset. Almost 7k hours in game, haven't logged in a week. Was just the final straw. I should thank them though it allowed me to escape the "Stockholm Syndrome Conundrum" that had become the last thousand ++ hours of game time for me.
The expansion will probably make or break NW for me. Season 1 and 2 don't have content I am particularly interested in + I don't like a season pass as a whole. The expansion needs to deliver on content but I am afraid that mounts and a reworked old zone just won't cut it for me.
First of all sand worm isn't a raid, we don't call a single boss in arena a raid. We call that an arena and we have already three of them in the game!! That's not content, nobody will do it after a month regardless there is a gear reset or not because a single fight will become boring in no time. Same goes with other endgame content we have been doing them so long they became boring anymore. I have not one two characters with full mut sets and can't even bother to do more muts anymore. We need hard reset to make endgame fresh again, there are negative sides but way more positive sides. And expertise gain is like at least important issue here, we can reach maximum expertise within 10 hours while doing muts farming mut gear takes hundreds of hours!! So i completely support gear reset as long as expansion is truly an expansion with a lot of new content, if it is a cheap joke like sand worm ''raid'' then the game will take perhaps unrecoverable damage...
I'd love to jump back into New World, but as a PvP player, there is just nothing to do. Open world PvP (which is by far the best aspect of the entire game) is dead in the water, playing the same old outdated OPR map is just boring as f*ck and Arena is just not worth playing without a ranked system. All the content the game has to offer are some cookiecutter dungeons which are irrelevant after running them once, a bunch of badly designed non-repeatable quests, large portions of the map being dedicated to braindead zergfest chestruns that nobody enjoys and Invasions / Wars which are both extremely inaccessible to 99% of the playerbase. TLDR: Game just has no fun endgame content at all, especially nothing for PvP players and rewards are just laughably bad across the board. Would love to play a lot more, but there is just nothing to do.
I wished the devs watched and listened… to all of your videos here on RUclips. I wished they would play other successful mmo’s to get ideas on what works. there is something to do for endgame? i mean like you said the "gear wipe" info has zeroed my motivation min-max on gear for all content ...its boring as hell running dungeons more than 10times to me (i can do diablo 4 for that by now) , the only thing i do is dailys/events and when im in the mood pvp
Dukesloth mentioned that they could be using New World for testing for their other games like the new LOTR MMO… if that’s the case NW won’t die but zombie on. IMO given enough time NW can come out of their nose dive so potentially they can recover given many years.. but it’s not looking hopeful atm
I hear what you're saying, but I think this is also a matter of perspective, surely? As someone who has reached end game - and you most definitely have (you only need to see screenshots of your trade skills to know that), you talk about adding rewards that make you want to play - but how would that work? It's an entirely linear process: you do something, and you get a reward for it. And then that's it? Do you expect them to keep adding rewards over and over? What reward would be enough for you to be satisfied? Surely it's never-ending? Now contrast this to a level 50 - they have months and months of content ahead of them - is that enough? I would say it is yes. Let's say they increased the character level to 100 - you'd play and grind it out for months until you reached it, and then we'd be right back here again complaining that there's no content. I happen to agree with what you're saying but this is a moving target and I feel sometimes listening to people go on about there being no reward that nothing would ever be good enough?
It isnt that nothing is good enough, its that the first bench mark of 60 is it.. there is nothing rewarding in an M10, the expedition gear is lack luster, to even barely useable,

For me (and I appreciate this isn't for everyone), the end game is about open world PVP and wars - you've got BIS, you've levelled all your trade skills, you've done your M10's - now it's time to prove yourself by killing everyone else :D - if they varied and improved the PVP experience (made the pushing influence more interesting, reworked wars and territory holdings etc) it would help a lot.
sand worm uniques need to be INSANE. for 20 man raid we should not be getting same perks as 5 man m10's. we need unique perks for sandworm loot. MEGA bane, whatever, must be massive DPS increase for PVE. must very overpowered and very rare and only obtained through sandworm. (imo)
New World was my first mmo. The action combat is amazing and fluid which hooked me on the game at launch where I put in 3k hours. I played in hundreds of OPR's, dozens of wars, countless M10's, boring influence pushes, establishing profitable farming routes, open world pvp, trading post profiteering, chasing BIS gear for my spec, building sets for different classes for pvp/pve, watching guilds grow and die, full map chest runs, and more. I felt I had that hardcore mmo experience that some of my friends had playing wow growing up and I honestly had a ton of fun. I really wish more people were able to access the war content which is the true raid of the game. If the game released in it's current state with a few perk balance changes (no resiliant/ward), and more pvp content such as a casual war game mode, the game would have been fine. Eventually, I stopped playing about 6 months ago. Playing the same OPR game mode got stale and the M10 grind for gear and gold felt endless. I got to the point the only upgrades I was looking for was true BIS gear which was so expensive. More than anything, was the fact that I could only war on my days off due to wars having set times. Getting into wars consistently when you can only war 1-2 days/week was very hard and while I was able to manage with some companies, it would ultimately end up being too much work networking for me. I hope the game can make a turnaround but I feel it is too late at this point. I will be checking in from time to time and maybe come back with the expansion but I don't think I will hardcore this game like I did at launch unless something massive changes.
Every time I think about coming back for a second time (I tried with Fresh Start but that fell flat rapidly), I see more reasons to NOT come back. It really is kinda pathetic they can't see what's broke when everyone since the beginning have been rubbing their noses in it. Yeesh.
After buying every variation of a BiS GA and having them nerfed one by one and now gear reset really kills it for me. Shirking -> chain -> attunement - mael all with TS RM. pretty soon they will sit to rot how disappointing
Most of your suggestions and ideas here are like common sense to the veteran MMORPG player. AGS lead dev team lacks that knowledge and experience and this is the result. Great video. Spot on.
Youre 100% right. They made a similar mistake releasing the fresh start with brimstone. The game isnt done enough to warrant the second chance fresh start gives. They basically wasted the hype/marketing opportunity.
I disagree with the amount of content for end game. You mention all the elite zones and the activities there-in, however, with simply playing the game a couple hours a day, you go through all that content rather fast. ECRs drag on when you do them daily....dungeons or even high level mutations are stale...Its genesis this week...I can do an M10 near naked with my guild, Brimstone doesnt offer much anymore besides what...glob farming? Elite chest runs for schematics? Maybe a few named item farms. The lack of content this game has after 1.5 years is astonishing. Diablo as an example comes out on launch with not only mounts, but lvlm 100 mutations in the form of Nightmare dungeons, Seasons dropping soon, which took amazon a year + to get going...and MOUNTS right off the bat. At some point, we have to hold these devs accountable for their mishandling of post launch. Valhalla, where i reside...is a ghost town. Yea, its summer, but during peak hours, we barely hit 1500 count anymore. I wish they would just hire more people and bang out more content ( Dont we all) and get ahead of the curve. We shouldnt wait a whole year for a new weapon ( That a LARGE % of the playerbase wont even use, leaving most of us waiting another year from then for something to look for) and expansion, which should at least be bi yearly...thats just infinitely slow for an MMO to release one a year... Its like they dont even value our time as players and the investment people will be willing to make with geniune content thats actually substantive. Also, resetting my gear ive worked 1.5 years to build up, just to get fucked, is a dick punch. Like, theres literally zero purpose to grind for anything if its just going to get reset anyway.. Game has great potential, but not with this dev team.

There are so many areas with stupid difficulty, a new raid that only the club will complete, and expeditions that have awful boss fights that don't scale with players just turning 60. The priority of these developers is all wrong, you cannot monetize the top few percent t as the game loses players month on month. Loot and grind in this game is a joke, there is so much garbage, how about defeating the same enemy 300 times sound fun? Chest runs are a joke, just opening chest for loot, you could find anywhere else with less difficulty and bosses that drop nothing because everyone scambling to do damage. The core of this game is corrupt by a developer centered on that club, driving a game with difficulty and very little fun or reward for your time.
that's the problem when u reveal prematurely that there will be a hard gear reset in the near future all the present rewards from mutations ,events,oprs become meaningless and people lose the motivation to do anything except farm things to sell to make money.Just a yesterday the spriggan event ended ,all the named gear that we got as a reward is useless ,can't waste shards to upgrade it,can't buy gear from store,can't upgrade anything to test something, all the gear sets the corrupted rage the harbinger that we farmed relentlessly for a considerable time is useless now if gear reset happens.I don't get why the reset.

People are coming on doing cool downs maybe help someone and of off. All MMOs do this but they don't know how to do it. Come September I'm playing Starfield. If new world screws it all up I just won't come back
tbh i dont like how to get bis gear work in nw, just rng at crafting... and i think the the best solution to motivate people to run dung/raid is to add bis named drop, crafting should be only for entry level gear instead (i have 200 in many profession and trophies)
I agree with every criticism about the PR department. They keep screwing the pooch. But the give away is already shaping up AS LONG AS YOUR DOING DAILIES. Season two is just going to make it easier. Season Two has ten more 615 items. With 5400 Umbral shards, 14 casts (made in seven days with infused scrap) of five 615 items, and the restraint to NOT open the casts till you have 600 expertise you will get 5 slots that cast at 400 umbral shards AND return all the shards you started with AND earn 1000 umbral shards. Casts on those 5 slots (again using those infused scraps are going to yield 4k daily. Just doing your dailies will get guarantee you can fully level 3 items a week. Everything else you do just adds to that number. You only need to level 38 items to have 5 complete gear sets. That's 13 days . And to earn equal or more shards than the yield from your dailies you need to Silver M0 or Bronze M10. I'm not concerned about the shard grind. That is already fixed (as long as you are spending 30 minutes on your dailies). Worry about the players who get to M8 and don't understand the expeditions.
for me i would like more the gear reset happens now than later because now i feel im wasting my time getting every single drops from any event knowing later they would becomes useless even my BIS gear set GS625 would be unable to upgrade to the new GS and that took me almost a year to get my setup done since i do not play alot hours and not have alot gold either so it made me feel like when i finally im catching up on PvP the system change now my stuff would be useless i have to grind again. it made me mad a bit but i understand is a MMO so is normal to happen but it does not make any sense releasing event so the stuff you get you wont be able to use it later so why would i do that events knowing is pointless so for me its better for them to release GS reset now than later
this game has been dying over the past few weeks population wise...then with the few patches theyve had each one breaking something new, and now combining all of this....love this game...play it daily....but my hopes are not high as far as its survivability :/......i hope it survives itself but its looking more and more like this game might b dead by the end of this year/beginning of next....plz prove me wrong ags.
I agree with the gear score reset, all the hype I had for the raids was evaporated the moment they shared that part. Precisely because that is all they said. It shows how inexperienced they are as a dev team. And now that I know for a fact they are also making the LoTR MMO solidifies to me that New World is just a trial run for that game. Since release I've played, and every damn time they made a patch I wondered "man these people don't seem to care what happens to the game". Only reason I keep playing is because the combat in pvp is amazing to me personally.
And indeed every other mmo ever has gear reset on expansions however this is not every other mmo is it ? The way to get BiS in this game is a very personal thing and usually extremely expensive to obtain. Unlike other MMOs where you know where to go to get your set BiS for your class.

Great video!!! This issue has been haunting me from the moment the dev said my gear will be obsolete. I stopped crafting my dream gear, I quit doing dungeons and am not even looking forward to the summer content. Why bother doing any of it to get gear that I have to spend thousands of umbrals on for 625 only to salvage them in a few months and wish I hadn’t wasted all those umbrals. Do I get patterns only to only to find out they are garbage as they only make soon to be obsolete gear. They ruined their new content before it was even released and if my understanding of the situation is wrong, they need to explain how things will be.
It will be silly simple of course. I could be wrong but it will be 690 gear drop upgradable to 725 with something exactly like shards with a different name. Of course the drops will be 500 garbage for one good one
The problem that you have identified is that the Devs are trying to reinvent the wheel - the most successful MMOS have already figured this all out (WOW, GW2, FFIXV, etc.). All the things you mentioned are all things that happen regularly in these games. Why you might ask? Its because they have DECADES of experience in figuring out what player bases want. That doesn't mean they have perfected it, and in many cases, they are still doing many things wrong that piss off their communities. However, the basic fundamentals for a successful MMO can be found in these games, and the fundamentals are where AGS is making mistakes! It's not wrong to look for better solutions for the problems that can be found throughout these already successful MMOs, however, it is wrong to ignore the concrete fundamentals that have been shown to be successful time after time. It's just such a rookie mistake.
My problem with the gear reset is the fact that NW has one of the worst ways to get gear. I spent massive amount of material and gold just to get my BiS gear and now they will make that gear obsolete.
I agree completely with all that was said, and on top of all that people have no real motivation to buy "bis" gear or hell even any kind of gear unless absolutely needed, since it will all be obsolete in a few months. I'm just using what I have now or might get from drops and hoarding all my money. I hope they can salvage it somehow.
My biggest question coming out of this video is how can you kill a game that is already dead? It’s not just about a snapshot either. There are numerous reasons why NW was over the minute fresh start failed. Biggest one to me doesn’t even have to do with the game. There is a lot of direct competition. A lot of games out now, and coming that are going to cause even more population issues. The season didn’t work. They waited wayyyyyyy too long to give us a raid. Even if you get to end game the culture in new world seems to be a whole of RMT on the pvp side, and WT on the pve side. I have 1500 hours in the game. Tried to tank mutations. I am just going to say: new world has a very low skill player base. At least on the fresh starts. It was like wiping to raids back in the day but instead we are fighting a 3 mechanic boss in a M5. I just couldn’t wrap my head around how 80% of pugs would fail miserably. There I go ranting. I’m not saying every Nw player is bad. I am saying from my experience pugs were impossible bc the only things pve players seemed to know how to do properly is follow the line in the WT and loot a chest. Actual mechanics were a lost cause. Does anyone think there are going to be a bunch of pugs actually full clearing the raid anyway? You will either be in a grindy, skilled group that is willing to put in the time or you will be one that is lucky if you got a full clear with a pug before the expansion. New world has fundamental issues that are not fixed by a patch
New world is a good game, as in i enjoy the combat, tab target got boring, the farming and world visuals are good. enjoy crafting like the housing but could be better. but the gear grind and end game is shit, just think they done gearing and stats all wrong, they took too much from other mmo's wanting to grind the same dungeon and whatever. leaned too much into theme park side, i agree they need a complete rework of the gear, the expansion is the make or break for me, If it doesnt fix the problems that you mainly stated, i think its over. Especially with the new LoTR mmo they announce which makes new world seem like a test run on how not to fuck a mmo launch
All very good points I raided in wow it was always the gear chase that drove me but the borrowed power finally killed the game for me so they have to be careful about how they do there expansions as well

It seems they want to avoid gear treadmilling (already doing GS grind is bad enough) and IF that's the case they need to look into how GW2 handles their content. One of the few MMOs that did everything almost perfect, wanna pvp? Go ahead, at lvl 10 youand and all your gear get scaled to max so the only real dividing factor is skill setup and how well you managed your stats. Wanna PvE? Cool, just hop on in and have fun. No need to worry about cycling content for gear, just badass cosmetics, mounts and a decent story with friends.

My issues with the game are numerous.
1. They have allowed persistent bugs to go unchecked for over 16 months (housing calculations, furniture sinking into floors, crooked paintings/valences, etc). Even though I myself have reported these on multiple occasions, along with a myriad of others.
2. No customer service. No GM's. No ability to get what you paid for. I hit 300 territory standing over a month ago and did not get my last card pop up (which has the last 5 housing items) and after three attempts to communicate the bug, nothing has been done to fix my account nor have they reached out.
3. No way to reliably report bugs anymore, especially not being able to share screenshots or video links. This alone is extremely telling of their position. NO GAME DEVELOPER wants to brush rugs under the carpet.
4. Cheating in PVP is massive. The amount of animation cancelling/macro useage is out of control. Some players use damage exploits, there is no way a fire staff is going to pillar 8k crits on someone with 5x resilience, 200 con and 4x fire resist gems on top of a fire resist necklace...and yet specific players do this to my constantly. Multiple reports have been filed and nothing has been done.
The bottom line is that New World is like buying a new car and every time you take it to the dealership to fix a broken part due to bad manufacturing, instead of fixing the car, they just try to sell you something while completely ignoring the broken parts.
That lack of commitment to the customer is EXTREMELY TELLING of their overall position. They are not interested in investing into the customers, only interested in selling you more junk.
Animation cancelling has completely ruined OPR and Wars. I stopped engaging in them. Then the realization hits that there is little else to do. Easy anti cheat should easily catch people using timed macros. I don't understand why amazon does nothing about it.

The real end game is to run mutations to get umbral shards so you can run higher mutations for more umbral shards. Once you have ran enough dungeons to fully 625 your best gear set you are basically running them to sell umbral shards.
Yes I did that but never sold just banked them. Now I experiment with different pvp builds as I can max any set at any time.

Yet you need umbral shards to get one set of gear to 625 for PVP and the most efficient way to get them is PVE but....

They've made it much easier to grind umbrals. That being said it does feel bad for those running lower muts, I used to run them to help people out but now with the mut limit I dont do it often. I'm hoping with cross world opr making it's debut that cross world mutations will open it up as well.
That being said they definitely need to add more options to end game options.

4:40 it's all quite empty though, I swear if they just focused on random encounters and world events.
Brimstone Sands wouldn't be an empty desert with only chest runs and a single dungeon.
It still feels like they have 10 devs working on the game, I see WoW private servers with 5 devs pump out more content than AGS.

I restarted NW after the beginning of S1, I was like GS520 or more and I played until reaching 615.
After that, grinding mutation was boring and I started to play less and I quit the game after 3 weeks, the reason I restarted the game was for preparing for the raid, and now here it is, the raid is out on the PTR... and it's really bad.
A single boss for a raid is not a raid even if it's hard like for me I really dodged a bullet to be tired and not preparing for that, I'm really disappointed and I don't think the expension will made me play again, maybe if I have no other game to play because at least it's free.

1. They need to introduce unique gear, with unique perks that can only be optained by doing certain activities. ATM, crafting is King and it's boring
2. Remove Gear Score. Vanilla WOW was hard but it was the most rewarding, because a purple item you get at lvl 55 was still great at 60.
3. Make the world feel dangerous. Make monsters stronger and enable PVP in high lvl zones.
4. Rework POI's. Chest runs have a ton of garbage drops and are boring.
5. If they add mounts, I hope they will remove a lot of azoth shrines...
We're at a point (EUC) where even at prime gaming hours outside the weekend, there are barely any M10s going on, sometimes arena queue takes 10min+ etc. Game is at it's lowest point in playerbase in NWs history. And this scares me. Because the new season/ new content really has to be a banger to even get numbers up again in a short term, not even talking about long term. And with the absolute neglect towards PvP content (I mean REAL new content like a PvP zone, an open world PvP rewards rework, new game modes etc.) and now the fail sandworm is at he moment - loot and difficulty-wise... yikes. I love this game. I just want to play it and feel rewarded and have fun. Is that so much?

I think you hit the nail on the head that there is plenty of content, but no motivation to do it. That is exactly how I feel for most of it. Everyone is tired of shitty rewards and multiple layers of RNG built into the reward systems. I believe the number one reason gear sucks so bad is the fact that there are required perks to run the most popular content and gear simply not having bane, attunement, ward, or resilient makes it almost completely useless. That is my #1 problem with those perks. It's not that I can't put together all the sets. It's that it makes everything else complete shit. I strongly believe the only way to make gearing fun in NW is to stop designing content around people having certain perks. Otherwise, think about it, most players are running around with two perk purple gear. If one of those perks is taken by something that's required, then that only leaves one extra perk for them to build with. That's so boring. Everyone ends up with the exact same gear. Then chances of upgrading it are so slim so many don't even bother. The only other option vs getting rid of those perks that I can think of is they make good legendaries easier (not trivial) to obtain. This way people at least have two perks to work with (2 + ward/res/bane/attunement).
I posted this blurb in a few spots a month ago. "I'd like to see the ward/shirking/resi type gear not stack. Just make it like 8-10%(if that much) on one piece of armor that doesn't stack. So much really good armor just gets stuck in a shed or salvaged because it won't become part of a full ward/resi type set. This would really help armor being used for both PVP and PVE. The possiblities on the armor would explode if every piece of armor didn't have to have this "mandatory" perk of something like a ward or resi. type. Even the Aversions, dump the stacking and just make the perk a little stronger for the armor it's on. The "BIS" would really be for the individual and the weapon they are using with all the extra possiblities not being taken up by these "mandatory" stacking perks. Crafters wouldn't lose so much if armor could still be good if it didn't have one of those stackers. imo" Too much stacking makes so much good gear worthless.
Great ideas. Most people who support these perks like ward as-is think if they aren't needed on every piece, then everyone would get BIS instantly and quit the game. They are thinking way too narrow minded. Even without ward I would have so many sets I'd want to build and I'd be more willing to try new weapons or unusual builds.

I agree that specific perks should be more often found in certain places and I think mutation bosses should actually have a good unique weapon or armor. When I got my first Isabella’s Rapier I was so excited till I saw it’s stats. I feel like stuff like that should have a unique perk only to that weapon(doesn’t need to be op af, just unique and usable). Like imagine it had a perk called Isabella’s Revenge where it did a small amount more of backstab damage compared to rogue if the target was affected by a bleed. And why Naishatun doesn’t drop his signature bow seems like a missed opportunity; just a couple examples.

i cut down on playing the game... i can't get the excitement of trying to improve my gears when it will be reset in a few months... won't get much pt at dungeons with gears of 600-610... i just run around... but it's difficult to get other weapons and armors with low gears... but then again aiming to reach 625 now is like a waste.... might just go online to do some ecr and log off...

I was never a fan of the tacked-on gypsum orb and then umbral shard systems used to increase your weapon expertise to 600 and then to 625. I would have preferred a more natural system which simply extended the current weapon mastery system we already have to increase expertise instead. They could even add an expertise system for tools. An expertise system shouldn't involve armor and jewelry at all in my opinion. Just let us craft or loot for better and better gear like most MMOs.
No way in hell I am going to continue if I need to reinvest all my time to get new gear. Millions of gold. As a pvp player Not one piece of gear I wear came from a drop. It came from an auction house and thousands of hours (3000) to get where I am farming to get the coin. Pvp events need to provide pvp gear. Period. Pve stuff should provide pve gear. I enjoy the OPR Arenas but to reinvest the time again. Gah!!! Unless they make it where gear you need comes from playing what you enjoy it’s over. It should be playing that gets you gear, not coins. Right now companies with the millions control everything and have the year cause they have the money. Others always lag behind and are trying to catch up while they are getting owned by the cash cows. This team needs to look at how pvp mmos like DAOC and Warhammer online did their gear.

I´ll play now and then a couple hrs but I have understood that there is no way to have fun, like a game you actually enjoy consistently for what it is. It is extremely annoying in some aspects, especially PvP.

A temporary fix is to cap your fps to 60-75
New world like many games it trying to pander to hardcore, muh old fashion manually made group content, the average casual wont be bothered with that which is a problem in any game that tries to be oldschool.
Also mmos are about gear progression, they are about GRINDING to get that max and perfect gear set. But in new world the ridiculous amount of perks makes drops worthless in that regard, i stopped even looking, i just salvage.
After the huge grind of getting everything to 200, trophies and gear I can finally make 2 perk items but I cannot afford to roll the dice to get the 3rd perk of choice item because embroideries and mats like that are incredibly expensive and not really farmable, so no realistic way to getting the perfect 3/3 perfect traits items which kinda makes you feel like why bother

no there is a break point in gearscore, so all your gear now will no longer be upgradeable and you have to farm entirely new sets of gear

A group wanted to do the M1 shipyard, so I did it to help them on the dead server. Frist run, we wipe on the tigers, so we get bronze. 2nd run one of the tigers is bugged and on top of the cage. The moron devs have that mechanic, where switching weapons "in combat" is prohibited for some reason. None of us could go ranged, except the healer. We are all standing there looking at the tiger, while the healer takes the tiger from 100% heath to dead. The game is such a POS that the wall does not open-up after, so we can move on. We drowned ourselves in the water and do it again... so we get bronze again.
I leave the game for awhile. I comeback on, and do some fiber farming. A group wants to do shipyard regular, and keeps asking for a tank in recruitment for 30+ minutes. Like a fool, I put on heavy gear set and join as a tank. I keep agro 90% of the time on the mobs and bosses. Wittle boy DPS asks me if I'm stupid in group chat, because I could not get agro on one of the tigers. I take the tiger I got argo on for a walk to the side, so wittle DPS failures can take down the one tiger. One of the DPS failures did not even make it to the tigers and was out on the first phase of the boss fight, even though I had agro the whole time. Some of the DPS were attacking the boss through me... and they were surprised when they got hit. We get to final boss, and I have agro... all of the DPS failures die by the time boss is 50% health. Healer and I finish-off the boss. DPS loser keeps crying about the tigers and me. I DM him to go f himself and tell him off. He cries that I'm rude.
Yeah, real fun game... totally well thought-out. Good luck ever getting me to tank or heal for any lower level group, because I'm never doing it. Total waste of time.
Getting 5 people do an event or expedition is hard, so obviously devs want to make 10 and 20 player groups. I'm sure that will not workout well, especially with all of the free-riders and idiots playing the game.
Devs are absolute potatoes.
Probably won't spend any actual amount of time till the expansion. Seems like a waste of time to play till then.
With that being said, not really into the PvE side of the game. I do PvE simply to stay competitive in PvP.
The problem is, IF 625 gear is going to be obsolete, then as you mentioned WHERE are we going to get new gear? If all the current expeditions/mutations aren't changed, the problem of no endgame content will only be exacerbated. If they are changed, the gear will be trivial to re-aquire and moving the goalpost will have been pointless. Nothing in the game is hard NOW. Giving players more stats will only make it even easier. (assuming they don't quit over the idea of rebuilding ALL their gear sets again)
One of the main things I liked about new world was the fact there were no gear wipes. They should only ever do perk revamps and introduce new weapons to shake up the gear meta every once in a while

100% Here's my hope (*inhales Copium*). The expasion currently has; Zone, Weapon, Dungeon, Heartrune, same as BS. Mounts are nice, but not huge "content". They said they are away what callling it an expansion means (BS wasn't), so I'm *really* hoping there is a lot more to it that we know about.
All the other changes are trying to fix existing systems. For the gear reset to work it has go all out, otherwise they should do a rework as you say. i.e. _every_ peice of gear needs redone.
It will be a disaster if they go half way and leave all the existing "crap" (RNG drops, weapons only used for leveling crafting, existing dungeon drops etc), but then have "new gear" that can be increased via a new system to 650.
So I have to hope they know this and have spent the time, redoing it all. That's a huge amount of work (as you point out), but otherwise I just don't see why they can call this an expansion, when currently it looks the same as BS (except with mounts).
I might have inhaled lots of copium too, but they said when the released the roadmap that they were not telling about everything. I hope they thought about most of these issues during the development and that they will hype the fuck out of everybody with suprise content when they will launch the expansion trailer!

I think you checked all the boxes on New World for me. New World is a game that I really want to spend hours on (still) grinding, collecting, gathering, crafting, but at the end of the day it just doesn't seem worth it. Max all you trade skills, get all the gear, make all the coin and you're done. I just don't feel I'm getting my times worth anymore.
For me. My end game for NW started when AGS leaked the Hard Reset. Almost 7k hours in game, haven't logged in a week. Was just the final straw. I should thank them though it allowed me to escape the "Stockholm Syndrome Conundrum" that had become the last thousand ++ hours of game time for me.
The expansion will probably make or break NW for me. Season 1 and 2 don't have content I am particularly interested in + I don't like a season pass as a whole. The expansion needs to deliver on content but I am afraid that mounts and a reworked old zone just won't cut it for me.
First of all sand worm isn't a raid, we don't call a single boss in arena a raid. We call that an arena and we have already three of them in the game!! That's not content, nobody will do it after a month regardless there is a gear reset or not because a single fight will become boring in no time. Same goes with other endgame content we have been doing them so long they became boring anymore. I have not one two characters with full mut sets and can't even bother to do more muts anymore. We need hard reset to make endgame fresh again, there are negative sides but way more positive sides. And expertise gain is like at least important issue here, we can reach maximum expertise within 10 hours while doing muts farming mut gear takes hundreds of hours!! So i completely support gear reset as long as expansion is truly an expansion with a lot of new content, if it is a cheap joke like sand worm ''raid'' then the game will take perhaps unrecoverable damage...
I'd love to jump back into New World, but as a PvP player, there is just nothing to do. Open world PvP (which is by far the best aspect of the entire game) is dead in the water, playing the same old outdated OPR map is just boring as f*ck and Arena is just not worth playing without a ranked system. All the content the game has to offer are some cookiecutter dungeons which are irrelevant after running them once, a bunch of badly designed non-repeatable quests, large portions of the map being dedicated to braindead zergfest chestruns that nobody enjoys and Invasions / Wars which are both extremely inaccessible to 99% of the playerbase.
TLDR: Game just has no fun endgame content at all, especially nothing for PvP players and rewards are just laughably bad across the board. Would love to play a lot more, but there is just nothing to do.
I wished the devs watched and listened… to all of your videos here on RUclips. I wished they would play other successful mmo’s to get ideas on what works. If not hire you and people with experience working on successful mmo’s. Love this game but the devs are just clueless. Thanks again I love your content!

there is something to do for endgame? i mean like you said the "gear wipe" info has zeroed my motivation min-max on gear for all content ...its boring as hell running dungeons more than 10times to me (i can do diablo 4 for that by now) , the only thing i do is dailys/events and when im in the mood pvp
Dukesloth mentioned that they could be using New World for testing for their other games like the new LOTR MMO… if that’s the case NW won’t die but zombie on.
IMO given enough time NW can come out of their nose dive so potentially they can recover given many years.. but it’s not looking hopeful atm
I hear what you're saying, but I think this is also a matter of perspective, surely? As someone who has reached end game - and you most definitely have (you only need to see screenshots of your trade skills to know that), you talk about adding rewards that make you want to play - but how would that work? It's an entirely linear process: you do something, and you get a reward for it. And then that's it? Do you expect them to keep adding rewards over and over? What reward would be enough for you to be satisfied? Surely it's never-ending? Now contrast this to a level 50 - they have months and months of content ahead of them - is that enough? I would say it is yes. Let's say they increased the character level to 100 - you'd play and grind it out for months until you reached it, and then we'd be right back here again complaining that there's no content. I happen to agree with what you're saying but this is a moving target and I feel sometimes listening to people go on about there being no reward that nothing would ever be good enough?
It isnt that nothing is good enough, its that the first bench mark of 60 is it.. there is nothing rewarding in an M10, the expedition gear is lack luster, to even barely useable,

For me (and I appreciate this isn't for everyone), the end game is about open world PVP and wars - you've got BIS, you've levelled all your trade skills, you've done your M10's - now it's time to prove yourself by killing everyone else :D - if they varied and improved the PVP experience (made the pushing influence more interesting, reworked wars and territory holdings etc) it would help a lot.
sand worm uniques need to be INSANE. for 20 man raid we should not be getting same perks as 5 man m10's. we need unique perks for sandworm loot. MEGA bane, whatever, must be massive DPS increase for PVE. must very overpowered and very rare and only obtained through sandworm. (imo)
New World was my first mmo. The action combat is amazing and fluid which hooked me on the game at launch where I put in 3k hours. I played in hundreds of OPR's, dozens of wars, countless M10's, boring influence pushes, establishing profitable farming routes, open world pvp, trading post profiteering, chasing BIS gear for my spec, building sets for different classes for pvp/pve, watching guilds grow and die, full map chest runs, and more.
I felt I had that hardcore mmo experience that some of my friends had playing wow growing up and I honestly had a ton of fun.
I really wish more people were able to access the war content which is the true raid of the game. If the game released in it's current state with a few perk balance changes (no resiliant/ward), and more pvp content such as a casual war game mode, the game would have been fine.
Eventually, I stopped playing about 6 months ago. Playing the same OPR game mode got stale and the M10 grind for gear and gold felt endless. I got to the point the only upgrades I was looking for was true BIS gear which was so expensive. More than anything, was the fact that I could only war on my days off due to wars having set times. Getting into wars consistently when you can only war 1-2 days/week was very hard and while I was able to manage with some companies, it would ultimately end up being too much work networking for me.
I hope the game can make a turnaround but I feel it is too late at this point. I will be checking in from time to time and maybe come back with the expansion but I don't think I will hardcore this game like I did at launch unless something massive changes.
Every time I think about coming back for a second time (I tried with Fresh Start but that fell flat rapidly), I see more reasons to NOT come back. It really is kinda pathetic they can't see what's broke when everyone since the beginning have been rubbing their noses in it. Yeesh.
After buying every variation of a BiS GA and having them nerfed one by one and now gear reset really kills it for me. Shirking -> chain -> attunement - mael all with TS RM. pretty soon they will sit to rot how disappointing

Youre 100% right. They made a similar mistake releasing the fresh start with brimstone. The game isnt done enough to warrant the second chance fresh start gives. They basically wasted the hype/marketing opportunity.

I disagree with the amount of content for end game. You mention all the elite zones and the activities there-in, however, with simply playing the game a couple hours a day, you go through all that content rather fast. ECRs drag on when you do them daily....dungeons or even high level mutations are stale...Its genesis this week...I can do an M10 near naked with my guild, Brimstone doesnt offer much anymore besides what...glob farming? Elite chest runs for schematics? Maybe a few named item farms.
The lack of content this game has after 1.5 years is astonishing. Diablo as an example comes out on launch with not only mounts, but lvlm 100 mutations in the form of Nightmare dungeons, Seasons dropping soon, which took amazon a year + to get going...and MOUNTS right off the bat.
At some point, we have to hold these devs accountable for their mishandling of post launch. Valhalla, where i reside...is a ghost town. Yea, its summer, but during peak hours, we barely hit 1500 count anymore.
I wish they would just hire more people and bang out more content ( Dont we all) and get ahead of the curve. We shouldnt wait a whole year for a new weapon ( That a LARGE % of the playerbase wont even use, leaving most of us waiting another year from then for something to look for) and expansion, which should at least be bi yearly...thats just infinitely slow for an MMO to release one a year...
Its like they dont even value our time as players and the investment people will be willing to make with geniune content thats actually substantive.
Also, resetting my gear ive worked 1.5 years to build up, just to get fucked, is a dick punch. Like, theres literally zero purpose to grind for anything if its just going to get reset anyway..

Your not talking about a community you're talking about yourself and the club the top few percent. This game has bigger issues. There are so many areas with stupid difficulty, a new raid that only the club will complete, and expeditions that have awful boss fights that don't scale with players just turning 60. The priority of these developers is all wrong, you cannot monetize the top few percent t as the game loses players month on month. Loot and grind in this game is a joke, there is so much garbage, how about defeating the same enemy 300 times sound fun? Chest runs are a joke, just opening chest for loot, you could find anywhere else with less difficulty and bosses that drop nothing because everyone scambling to do damage. The core of this game is corrupt by a developer centered on that club, driving a game with difficulty and very little fun or reward for your time.

that's the problem when u reveal prematurely that there will be a hard gear reset in the near future all the present rewards from mutations ,events,oprs become meaningless and people lose the motivation to do anything except farm things to sell to make money.Just a yesterday the spriggan event ended ,all the named gear that we got as a reward is useless ,can't waste shards to upgrade it,can't buy gear from store,can't upgrade anything to test something, all the gear sets the corrupted rage the harbinger that we farmed relentlessly for a considerable time is useless now if gear reset happens.I don't get why the reset.

tbh i dont like how to get bis gear work in nw, just rng at crafting... and i think the the best solution to motivate people to run dung/raid is to add bis named drop, crafting should be only for entry level gear instead (i have 200 in many profession and trophies)

But the give away is already shaping up AS LONG AS YOUR DOING DAILIES. Season two is just going to make it easier. Season Two has ten more 615 items. With 5400 Umbral shards, 14 casts (made in seven days with infused scrap) of five 615 items, and the restraint to NOT open the casts till you have 600 expertise you will get 5 slots that cast at 400 umbral shards AND return all the shards you started with AND earn 1000 umbral shards. Casts on those 5 slots (again using those infused scraps are going to yield 4k daily. Just doing your dailies will get guarantee you can fully level 3 items a week. Everything else you do just adds to that number. You only need to level 38 items to have 5 complete gear sets. That's 13 days . And to earn equal or more shards than the yield from your dailies you need to Silver M0 or Bronze M10.
I'm not concerned about the shard grind. That is already fixed (as long as you are spending 30 minutes on your dailies). Worry about the players who get to M8 and don't understand the expeditions.
for me i would like more the gear reset happens now than later because now i feel im wasting my time getting every single drops from any event knowing later they would becomes useless even my BIS gear set GS625 would be unable to upgrade to the new GS and that took me almost a year to get my setup done since i do not play alot hours and not have alot gold either so it made me feel like when i finally im catching up on PvP the system change now my stuff would be useless i have to grind again.
it made me mad a bit but i understand is a MMO so is normal to happen but it does not make any sense releasing event so the stuff you get you wont be able to use it later so why would i do that events knowing is pointless so for me its better for them to release GS reset now than later
this game has been dying over the past few weeks population wise...then with the few patches theyve had each one breaking something new, and now combining all of this....love this game...play it daily....but my hopes are not high as far as its survivability :/......i hope it survives itself but its looking more and more like this game might b dead by the end of this year/beginning of next....plz prove me wrong ags.
I agree with the gear score reset, all the hype I had for the raids was evaporated the moment they shared that part. Precisely because that is all they said. It shows how inexperienced they are as a dev team. And now that I know for a fact they are also making the LoTR MMO solidifies to me that New World is just a trial run for that game. Since release I've played, and every damn time they made a patch I wondered "man these people don't seem to care what happens to the game". Only reason I keep playing is because the combat in pvp is amazing to me personally.
And indeed every other mmo ever has gear reset on expansions however this is not every other mmo is it ? The way to get BiS in this game is a very personal thing and usually extremely expensive to obtain. Unlike other MMOs where you know where to go to get your set BiS for your class.

Great video!!! This issue has been haunting me from the moment the dev said my gear will be obsolete. I stopped crafting my dream gear, I quit doing dungeons and am not even looking forward to the summer content. Why bother doing any of it to get gear that I have to spend thousands of umbrals on for 625 only to salvage them in a few months and wish I hadn’t wasted all those umbrals. Do I get patterns only to only to find out they are garbage as they only make soon to be obsolete gear. They ruined their new content before it was even released and if my understanding of the situation is wrong, they need to explain how things will be.
It will be silly simple of course. I could be wrong but it will be 690 gear drop upgradable to 725 with something exactly like shards with a different name. Of course the drops will be 500 garbage for one good one

The problem that you have identified is that the Devs are trying to reinvent the wheel - the most successful MMOS have already figured this all out (WOW, GW2, FFIXV, etc.). All the things you mentioned are all things that happen regularly in these games. Why you might ask? Its because they have DECADES of experience in figuring out what player bases want. That doesn't mean they have perfected it, and in many cases, they are still doing many things wrong that piss off their communities. However, the basic fundamentals for a successful MMO can be found in these games, and the fundamentals are where AGS is making mistakes! It's not wrong to look for better solutions for the problems that can be found throughout these already successful MMOs, however, it is wrong to ignore the concrete fundamentals that have been shown to be successful time after time. It's just such a rookie mistake.

My problem with the gear reset is the fact that NW has one of the worst ways to get gear. I spent massive amount of material and gold just to get my BiS gear and now they will make that gear obsolete.
I agree completely with all that was said, and on top of all that people have no real motivation to buy "bis" gear or hell even any kind of gear unless absolutely needed, since it will all be obsolete in a few months. I'm just using what I have now or might get from drops and hoarding all my money. I hope they can salvage it somehow.
My biggest question coming out of this video is how can you kill a game that is already dead? It’s not just about a snapshot either. There are numerous reasons why NW was over the minute fresh start failed. Biggest one to me doesn’t even have to do with the game. There is a lot of direct competition. A lot of games out now, and coming that are going to cause even more population issues. The season didn’t work. They waited wayyyyyyy too long to give us a raid. Even if you get to end game the culture in new world seems to be a whole of RMT on the pvp side, and WT on the pve side. I have 1500 hours in the game. Tried to tank mutations. I am just going to say: new world has a very low skill player base. At least on the fresh starts. It was like wiping to raids back in the day but instead we are fighting a 3 mechanic boss in a M5. I just couldn’t wrap my head around how 80% of pugs would fail miserably. There I go ranting. I’m not saying every Nw player is bad. I am saying from my experience pugs were impossible bc the only things pve players seemed to know how to do properly is follow the line in the WT and loot a chest. Actual mechanics were a lost cause. Does anyone think there are going to be a bunch of pugs actually full clearing the raid anyway? You will either be in a grindy, skilled group that is willing to put in the time or you will be one that is lucky if you got a full clear with a pug before the expansion. New world has fundamental issues that are not fixed by a patch
New world is a good game, as in i enjoy the combat, tab target got boring, the farming and world visuals are good. enjoy crafting like the housing but could be better. but the gear grind and end game is shit, just think they done gearing and stats all wrong, they took too much from other mmo's wanting to grind the same dungeon and whatever. leaned too much into theme park side, i agree they need a complete rework of the gear, the expansion is the make or break for me, If it doesnt fix the problems that you mainly stated, i think its over. Especially with the new LoTR mmo they announce which makes new world seem like a test run on how not to fuck a mmo launch
LoTR mmo could be released in 2025 at best, other upcoming MMOs are also postponed or has terrible combat like Liberty..

All very good points I raided in wow it was always the gear chase that drove me but the borrowed power finally killed the game for me so they have to be careful about how they do there expansions as well

They are prob working there ass of to make the expertise, GS and mutated dung etc better and more enjoyable then now, like they said before maybe they will reduce the amount of mutations to 3,4 or 5 that would make it ez to make more mutated dung with and GS upgrade in the future
It seems they want to avoid gear treadmilling (already doing GS grind is bad enough) and IF that's the case they need to look into how GW2 handles their content. One of the few MMOs that did everything almost perfect, wanna pvp? Go ahead, at lvl 10 youand and all your gear get scaled to max so the only real dividing factor is skill setup and how well you managed your stats. Wanna PvE? Cool, just hop on in and have fun. No need to worry about cycling content for gear, just badass cosmetics, mounts and a decent story with friends.
