5 years later and you're still helping people like me. I have to do this exact thing with a towel holder and a toilet paper holder. Thanks for being direct and thorough in a short amount of time!!
UNBELIEVABLE! I am a 67 year old widow, whose towel rack "ripped" out of the holes a month ago. I have tried larger anchors - did not work. Have been desperate here in isolation, and so tired of feeling helpless to fix this. I watched this video - and just happened to have Great Stuff I bought last year but didn't use. Worked perfectly (well a little messy on my part), and now my towel rack is hanging FIRMLY on the wall - and holds towels once again. I can't thank you enough! Really appreciative.
You can always buy a new house, you know? It'll fix the problem.

You go girl!
If you need ur pipes checked out you can count on me to clean them out if you know what I mean ;)))
Who else is here because a family member pulled too hard on the rail too many times?
Me! Kid pulled on a towel rack and it came right off!
Me too. It’s loss but still on the wall.
It’s me, I’m the family member 🤦🏽♂️
My mom 😢 now I have to fix.
@@juicyfruitjay bahahaha. Hope it's going strong. Mine is. Industrial strength mounting 💪
Tried this yesterday and it worked beautifully. If they handed out awards for the most useful video ever, this would be it.
Best hack I've seen in a while. Tried and verified. Repair cost me $2.94 and maybe 15 minutes! Thanks!!
Second that.. This is actually several drops of genius
What expanding foam did you use?
Which great stuff did you use? Can you share the link to buy?
This is absolutely brilliant. I was going insane trying the traditional fixes. Thank you very much.
Looks like a much easier process than I was expecting, thanks for the video!
Someday an archeologist is going to find a foam geode. Open it to see fragments of spackle, hardware screws, drywall repair mesh, folded cardboard from a tampon box, toothpicks, a spider, twisted ropes of newspaper, little drywall chunks painted every which color of that bathroom, and a pesky thin little triangle of painter’s tape. New sub sir o7, bravo!
Awesome hack, thanks! I need to do the same thing. Wife has change the bathroom style so many times, it looks like Al Pacino shot up the place.
Thank you so much for this diy....a short trip to HD and $5 for a can of Great Stuff and our towel bar is back up and better than ever!!
great tip and great instructional video. Excited to try this after 3 failed attempts with other recommended methods. Thanks for taking the time to help others.
Ok so this is an updated comment. I used the exact same product and followed instructions to the tee. Worked perfect. but is not a permanent fix! I only put one towel on my rack and 6 months later I’m back to square one watching videos on how to fix, haha!!
Had tried plaster repair kit to no avail. This worked like a charm! Thanks for the great tip!
Genius!! Worked like a champ for a non-handyman like me! Thank you for this video!
Super helpful without a lot of nonsense! Thank you for "raising the bar" on the "how to" videos!
This is awesome! We have a towel rack that keep coming out and now a closet rack! I’m so glad your video is the fist one I watched!!! I will be a rock star with my husband when I show him this!!! Thank you for sharing this hack!!!
Thanks for this tip! I had been putting off this repair because I didn't think I could take care of it myself. But I followed your instructions, and now the 2 towel racks are back on the wall and ready to use!!
that's great news. glad it worked for you.
Or you could've bought a new house and solved the problem.

We have a towel rack the has been off the wall for a year now, tried everything to fix it. Had it fixed with super glue hubby tripped and yanked it off the wall. I am so glad I found your DIY FIX!! Thanks!
I don't know that this video will aid me in assisting a friend; however, maybe someday it might help me with another repair project. Thanks for the clarity in audio, and the reasoning behind *why* you did the various things; it reinforces the purpose.
Thank you. This saved my new towel bar. I was at a loss and didn't want to patch after we just repainted the whole bathroom. It went from falling out after one towel was hung to there for life!
A friend showed my this video yesterday. I'm so excited to get on the project in mind. I had been dreading having handymen come by and give me a bid for (probably) unnecessary work. I'm confident this will fix the issue!
It really worked. Thank you so much for posting this video. Made my life much easier!
You are a genius, I’m 52 years old and have been going crazy for years to find a way to fix damage wall racks. Thanks
Brilliant idea!
New bathroom was redone last year. One day I walked in and the TP holder was hanging by a thread. Surprisingly no one spoke up about it. Arrg! So I did the toggle bolt fix. Two days later, another unnamed guest arrived and thought the TP holder was a handicap hanndle. I was so mad that I've ignored it for months dredding the cut/tape/float method.
Blessings be upon you and yours.
Thank you! I used this trick to reaffix a ceramic towel bar end that came off the wall. It worked like a charm and so easy.
Ummm. This is GENIUS! I’ve attempted to fix my towel rack 4 times! ✨🤯✨
Awesome tip!! Worked for fixing a floating shelf that my son tried use as a ladder.. lol. Thanks for the quick fix!!
Thank you so much for this hack.. esp when you don't have the time to cut out and plaster etc.. this saved me before my inspection tomorrow 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💯💯💯
I just did this and it worked perfectly. Thanks so much for this.
Thank you for the tip! This did the trick in my bathroom that I had to share this video on FB!
Just solved my illusive towel rack issue thanks to you!!! I've tried everything but this was thee best hands down! Thank you! Happy Holidays!
Thank you soo much! My son was hanging on the towel rack! I really really appreciate it❤❤❤
Lol wow wow wow!!!! Love you for showing me how to do this!!! RUclips is my number one app. Can’t live without it, seriously!
Wow thank you so much for this quick fix. I’ve lived in my apartment for two years with a hole like that from a towel rack that fell off . I didn’t want to cut out the wall or spakle it. I didn’t want maintenance in my bathroom so it stayed like that till now. This has been the best tip ever . Thank you thank you thank you🤗
Great little tip Will. Thanks for posting!
I am going to say a special prayer for you and your family..and from the bottom of my heart! God bless you!
I am not the handiest of people. This video made me feel awesome! Thanks amigo!
Fixed 3 of my towel bar holes with this trick today after watching this video. Took a bit practice but it worked extremely well. Thanks so much!
Whom ever the man demonstrating this video.
I want to thank you so very much.
This is the best way to me to repair the holes from the dry.
So very helpful
Great tip! Used this to repair a pesky towel bar that's loosened up multiple times over the years. Once the foam cures it feels just as solid as the other side that's in a stud. Thanks!
Excellent idea! I can't count how many times I've had to deal with stripped towel bar or toilet paper holder drywall issues. Thanks!!
Can I ask you advice? Mine is on a void wall but I am concerned that if I stuff it with newspaper, foam it, and re-hang the rack, it will move because it is technically attached to the [paper. Ids this true?
Just did this today, worked like a charm! Thank you very much.
Whew!! Just when I was about to become unglued from the seams. I stumbled upon your hack. Which by the way is pretty freaking GOOD!! And I already had the great stuff on hand. Great demo!
Omg me too!! I was so furious. Thank God I'm not the only one and some one had a video.
One side was down but I had it sitting in the hole. My husband and I were in the guest bath talking about what to do with it when without thinking he leaned on the other side, and, yep, it came crashing down! 😳 You cannot come unglued with him, but on the inside...🤬
Great video, single mom and my six year old yanked his towel rod off leaving two big holes.. I'm going to try this approach. Thanks so much!!!
Brilliant! Easy and effective! Thank you
I just had this happen today..thanks for this awesome tip!!
Very helpful and direct to the point. Thank you so very much!
Perfect ! Just what I was looking for ! Thanks !!
Thank you
I just finished watching your video and immediately went to my amazon shopping cart and deleted 3 freestanding towel racks i had put but hadn’t bought yet. What great tip. I will go do it in my three bathrooms that the racks keep falling and drive me mad. I tried repeatedly to fix them but nothing worked. Thanks again. You saved me from unnecessary expense.
Which of the great stuff products did you buy ?
That is something awesome. Totally needed that today !
Thank you so much! So much more efficient and easier than other methods.
Wow! Great video! I was all set to do the drywall patch project which would've taken me some time. Thanks for this...on my way to the Home D!!
This worked so well. I can shake the towel rack aggressively and the bracket ain't moving. Thank you!!
Facing this issue in the bathrooms of the house we just bought. So frustrating. Looks like I’ve got a project to do! You just saved me so much time
Same here, barely a month and towel racks a bust!
Same here 6 mths l8r.
Thank you for this video!! Now i don’t have to call my dad to come over to fix my towel rack which I’m sure he will appreciate 😂😂 this is the level of home repair difficulty I can handle lol
WOW! Fricken Awesome tip! My wife just accidentally pulled a towel rack off the drywall in Master Bath (Molly bolt pulled out of drywall making a large hole) and I was struggling with what would be the best way to fix it. Now I have a plan! Thanks man!
This really worked. Thanks for the video, much appreciated. Initially, I forgot to tape it but figured it out by next morning the rack was solidly in place. It has been about two months now,, still holding up.
Thank you for letting us know. Did you have an inside wall or outside wall?
Followed this and worked like charm. So easy. Very good video. Thank you so much
Ordered product on Amazon and repaired towel rack today, my hubby was shocked, did not tell him this great secret! Thank you
Why lie to your husband?
awesome! Great outside the box thinking. Thanks for the great tip!!
Thank you! Going to fix the hole today in my bathroom. It has been driving me nuts and I was thinking I was going to have to get a handyman to move my towel bar up and repair the drywall. You’re saving me a lot of money. Much appreciated!
Thats awesome. You saved me a lot of headache and its so simple. You DA MAN!
Worked great! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this video. Will this work for other type of anchors?
Thank you so much for this! We tried everything and this worked perfectly!!!!
Great idea 👍🏽 Thanks so much for your help!!
That's so smart! I've remodeled homes as well and have used Great Stuff thousands of times but never for this! Great idea will be trying it today!
How can anyone not think of this process when using expanding foam is beyond me.
I tried this at it works great!!! Had to come back to this video to figure out the foam to use....great video thanks bro!
Perfect, doing this today.
This is new to me. I like it. I’ve always switched it to a zip anchor when the original fails.
wow that is so easy THANK YOU
Exactly what I was looking for!! I'm going to try it tomorrow!!
Very nice idea thanks for sharing it.
You sir are a master of hackery...great work!!
This is the perfect solution to my toilet bar holder repair I was looking for. The wall is covered in wallpaper, so the other methods for repairing drywall would not be beneficial to my repair needs. Can't wait to try this.
Thank you so much for this! Worked like a charm :)
worked like a charm! thank you! the only thing I would say is that foam does go crazy and can get everywhere if you're not careful, but It wasn't that big of a deal. Thank you! I've been putting off trying to fix It for awhile because It seemed to difficult and this hack made It WAY easier than I thought!
Did you use the newspaper to create a dam as he suggested? What keeps the newspaper from falling to the floor in the inside wall?
So first I tired exactly what you said not to do in the beginning of this video. It didn’t work. But this worked like a charm though. Stronger than I expected it to be. Should have just went on RUclips first. Thank you!
I wondered about using that for that! I also wondered if it might work for a couple of little dents in another wall, whether shooting a little behind the dents would push them out. Good to know - thanks!
Will try this .thanks !
Worked perfectly...Thank you
Does this work if the surrounding dry wall is cracked, or should I fix that first?
This is fantastic!! Thank you!
I had my doubts initially but this is a great hack
Awesome vid, will be doing this later today!
Mine broke, I thought of using either epoxy or expanding foam. I look how to fix and your video is the first one I watched haha! Awesome I will try this.
No way!!! Ok I’m going to wake up first thing tomorrow and get that stuff. I moved my towel rack and patched holes 3X last yr because of this issue. So THANK YOU 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Are you using the Gaps and Cracks sealant? Thanks!
Thanks. I tried this last night. Seems solid. Not sure how long it will hold up, but we will see. Thanks!!!
Very cool hack. Thank you.
Wow, thanks so much!! What an awesome tip, will buy Great Stuff today and try it out.
Do you have any suggestions on how to replace the entire (broken) towel rack setup? My friend, for that project, doesn't have the original pieces, so a demolition of the second half will be necessary.
This trick worked perfectly! Thanks for sharing!
Glad it helped!
I recognized your voice right off the bat. Thought I clicked on the wrong video. Nice trick!
How do you remove this when you want to change to different towel bars? Will it come out or do you have to cut out the drywall and foam?
With an out side concrete wall and no stud to reattach a towel bar mount that left me only the thought of using a tap con. But I picked up a can of foam and just like this video it seems to have worked. Be fast and note the foam is sticky until it hardens. Keep an eye on the mount .when that stuff expands it is strong. Thanks for your idea .
Lifesaver. Guest bathroom good as new. Thanks!
How much would you say this would hold? My father in-law thinks I should use a larger drywall anchor but this seems like a great idea to me.
Great tip thank you for sharing your knowledge
no prob
Thank you so much for the video, it was of great help 👍🏼
