Donald duck is actually retired US Navy and has an DD214 (honorable discharge form, from the US defense department) of for his emotional support during the war effort, also the reason his voice is they way it is, is PTSD

Calling everyone from Axis a Nazi was common in USSR as well. Because National-Socialism had Socialism in the title, Germans were called Fascist instead. To this day it’s a common misconception in post-Soviet countries, to consider them Fascist rather than Nazi. They are intertwined of course, but not the same.

I remember watching these cartoons when i was very young. I did not know they were propaganda at the time because i did not understand english yet.
@Soumyadeep Chatterjee I was born in 2001, you can decide if that make my story more funny or not, lol.
This was part of a silver Donald Duck DVD collection that had all the DD cartoons and other on it. The three little pigs was on it as an example and also the version where the big bad wolf had an nazi armband on him.
6:25 I struggle to remember a time when I laughed this hard at a face being made lol. Also if someone here hasn't checked out Spike Jones' version of Der Fuhrer's Face, do it, it's a great song.
I did a "Best of Disney" show back...before RUclips. So, before seeing the actual short. Just the song. No real context at all, except for the history of the war. As I recall, there IS more song than what is in the short, which makes sense since it wasn't just made for pre-show at the theatre, but also for radio. I think there is what would be considered a 'radio version', about 3ish minutes in length. It was just verse-chorus-verse-chorus...none of the other stuff needed to make the film...
It's funny how everyone in Japan didn't know the swastika or the nazi itself even though they were ally with each other.
I always find this strange. The Nutzi-land bit is one thing, but to go from the place where everything is shape like a Nutzi symbol or a Hitler face to a place where everything is stars and strips and all that?
In the most fundamental level, it is changing one set of indoctrination for another. The idealism behind the symbols is different of course. But at the most basic level, you've got suppressed tones and icons everywhere, being replaced with brighter colours - and icons everywhere.
In the broader sense, I suppose I just don't get the American flag worship and pledge of allegiance and all that, so the tail end of this cartoon is intended for a different audience than me.
The stars and stripes is something to be proud of. Thats the difference.

They made one for the Soviet too, it's really weird to see the American gov talk good about Russia for once.
