    Plottwist: the failed assassination attempts were the result of time travel.
    When time travel will have been invented, the people will have split in two factions:
    - the "Unalive Mustacheman to prevent WWII" faction;
    - the "Keep Mustacheman alive to preserve the spacetime continuum" faction
    The attempted assassins were time travellers from the UMM faction, but they were thwarted by time travellers from the KMA faction.

    The Day of the Jackal is a classic. Kurosawa listed it as one of his favorite films, and it clearly set the ground for a lot of the more modern grounded spy-game genre of thrillers. It does have some fact as far as the story goes (such as the failed OAS assassination on de Gaulle) but the plot is almost entirely fictional otherwise as it occurs after the 62' assassination attempt and involves the OAS hiring an assassin named the "Jackal" to finish the job, and the French government's attempt to hinder the attack and/or find the Jackal before he can carry it out. It's adapted from a very popular Forsyth novel.

    Unfortunately, these kinds of events are crystalizing. They don't change very many people's opinions, but they sharply focus the opinions people already had. Those who supported the victim will be more fervent in their support, defensively feeling like the attack on the one they identify with is an attack on themselves. Those who oppose the victim will anticipate that fervor and be defensive themselves.
    It will be interesting in the months that follow to see what caused this lapse in security. Securing vantage points is a large part of why attempts at long range haven't really been a thing since JFK. That said, I've looked at the elevation on Google Maps compared with what news outlets have shown for the location, and it may have been a situation where they didn't realize line of sight existed there. The detail for a sitting President is also far larger than for a former one and campaigns go through a lot of venues in quick succession, so it may also have been a manpower issue.

Thank you MrTerry, I never had the possibility to learn about anything after WW1 in school. Your videos have made a big impact in the knowledge I have know. Greetings from Austria, Europe! ❤
    Personal Note: I am not a fan of Trump, however it doesn't mean that I believe the assassination attempt is justified. It needs to be set in society that you stop with hate or disrespect when people get injured or it leads to it (well, obviously it should be possible to argue without it, but some humans can be awful in a certain way). But maybe I have an odd view of the world.

    Few notes on Reagan in 1984 Reagan was not the largest landslide in American history that belongs to FDR in both the Electoral and Popular vote.. fun fact about that election My state of Maine went with the Republican Alf Landon of Kansas. Reagan had the second largest electoral landslide. Reagan also had the third largest popular vote margin ... FDR was number one, Herbert Hoover 1928 was number two.
    The 1984 election we get two terms kinda used today though way out of context. Reagan Democrat refers to a voter who voted for Ronald Reagan for President and a Democrat as their house member. The Democrats won a near Veto proof number of seats in the house and Senate. A true "Blue wave" election. The other is the "Silent Majority" giving a "Mandate"... Really weird election and the first I remember.

People have been dragging her through the mud for showing sympathy for both sides. I feel like you should do a video on war time through out history and how it effects both sides. War isn't always black and white. Often it's a gray area with good and bad people on both sides. Even people who aren't soldiers like Mary Virginia Wade. We have to remember that war hurts everyone involved regardless of morals.

      I mean no offense but im not american and Trump has many many undemocratic tendencies. In any functional democracy he wouldn't be allowed to run after Jan 6th. But now i guess he is almost untouchable after what your supreme court decided. Not thats these are the only problems.
      Why exactly can the president appoint judges that have strong political leanings?

      @@Admiral-General_Aladeen worry about your own country sir. trump is a republican, the UNITED STATES is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. and you only watch leftist media i see. thats all they allow the world to see is one side of the political aisle. Imran Khan supports trump why dont uou? how many dictators in middle east right now? we as americans have the right to take doen tyrants. there is a zero percent chancd trump could EVER be a dictator. worry about your own country please.

      @@forbidden-cyrillic-handle Not really. At that age you are almost completely influenced by the people around you and the ones in your immidiate interest circle online. I've never seen anyone who would have genuinely developed their own nuanced views of politics before turning 20 or so.
