      While I don’t think it was true that the secret service allowed it to happen, we want to believe the secret service is the best of the best. So that means when the sheer incompetence of the secret service was put on display, it seemed almost too unbelievable to be anything but.

    Just to clear up the red dot discussion. Basically he is stating that due to the inherent inaccuracy present in the weapon itself, you had roughly a 4" margin of error at that distance, making the idea that a shooter PLANNED to only hit the ear absolutely ridiculous (Garand Thumb covers this a bit more thoroughly in his video on the topic)

    • @vincentpanicucci9118
      @vincentpanicucci9118 Месяц назад +27

      MOA is based off the rifle not the optic a rifle straped down won't shoot the same spot over and over again this rife in the video has an MOA of 3 at 100 yards which means at a 100 yards youll have a 3 inch grouping of where your rounds hit no matter the optic

    • @ebreshea
      @ebreshea Месяц назад +43

      @@vincentpanicucci9118 correct. Extrapolating from 100 yds to 130 gives you the 4". He also said the dot covered basically the entire head at that distance, which makes even just targeting the ear impossible. So both are relevant, but the dot has nothing to do with the 4" margin.

    • @GamerMarine89
      @GamerMarine89 Месяц назад +2

      @@vincentpanicucci9118the optic can decrease the MOA slightly if its a magnifyied optic. Being that he used a red dot it would be the equivalent of the rifles MOA only.

      @@vincentpanicucci9118the dot size in red dots are given in MOA as well. Meaning a 3 moa dot would cover 3 moa worth of the target at whatever distance your shooting. So at the distance the shot was taken a 3moa dot would cover ~3.5" of target. Combine this with the accuracy of the rifle and it starts to show why it's not considered a precision platform/optic

      there's a few here and there where I'll allow for the idea that we were left in the dark about aspects or even lied to on some level but there's a big difference between lying to prevent classified info from being deduced or whatever and flying off the handle and assuming the most insane scenario must be the true one.
      For example it's stupid to think 9/11 was an inside job but it's not unreasonable to conclude we don't and might not ever have all the details. The CIA didn't kill JFK, but I think it's clear we weren't told the whole truth on every aspect either.

Since both of us wrote fiction, we were familiar with what we were talking about. Herrera's lectures reminds me of him so much. And, there's a picture from another rally they showed today that was more of a close up. The head they had there is from Ballistic Dummy Labs, and is about as materially identical to a human head as you can get without going to a butcher. Garrand Thumb did a lot more explaining the terms in his video... both went up on pepperbox at the same time, so watched one then the other, but the "MOA" or margin of accuracy is based on the slight defects in the bullets, slight differences in the powder in the cartridge, differences in the barrel and the harmonics of that barrel (remember seeing the AK 50 in slow motion, how the barrel deformed as the shot happened). A standard AR has a 3 MOA, which means the bullet will be off the exact mark by as much as 3" at 100 yards, or nearing 5" at the 150 yards the attack happened from.
    As gun crimes become more of a concern in our modern era, I wish all reporters took at least a couple trips to a gun range like you did. It seriously damages the rest of their reporting when they make a basic error like the ones we have seen the last 2 weeks, and we really REALLY need to get back to a point we can watch the news without it being "is this reporter my team or the bad team".

    There was actually a video game created that was a jfk assassination simulator. The creator of the game made it under the guise of "proving the official story." In reality, he made it because he understood the weapon used and its ballisticd well enough that he knew the lee harvey oswald story is literally impossible. So the game grades your accuracy on how close you got to recreating the assassination, and the highest score anyone has ever gotten was 60%.

    Fellow shooter here, allow me to explain some of the nomenclature as well as some of the ballistics and how they work;
    When shooting at range, there's something called the "MOA," which is loosely described as "Measure of Accuracy," which basically means at 100 yards, you need to compensate for the flight of the bullet. For example, 1 MOA, means at 100 yards, you need to aim 1 inch left of your target. The rifle in question is said to have a 2-3 MOA, which means at 100 yards he needed to aim 2-3 inches left of his target to hit. This in of itself is not hard, but for a specific shot such as grazing the ear, means it would be next to impossible for anyone to pull that off with a 0x magnification sight, poor quality weapon, and elevated heart rate.

    • @Stevarooni
      @Stevarooni Месяц назад +1

      MOA = Minutes Of Angle
      1 MOA will hit somewhere in a 1" wide circle at 100 yards. So a 3 MOA rifle will hit somewhere in a 4.5" circle at 150 yards. It doesn't say where you should aim, it says where a bullet is likely to hit based on your point of aim.

    In regards to the ballistic gel heads: Ballistic gel is intended to as close as possible replicate skin and muscle tissue, without using actual organic tissue. As to the shot on the shooter facsimile: I'm assuming Brandon and his crew do not know exactly what round the Secret Service/PD security teams were using, so it's entirely possible that the damage caused could have been increased or decreased depending on the round in use. They said repeatedly that they tried to get as close as possible to what they know based on knowledge they have, but if the defense snipers were using a subsonic round, the damage could be considerably less.

    One thing people are ignoring is that not only was the rifle unable to do a deliberate graze of Trump's ear, it simply wasn't that precise, but they haven't even considered the ammunition used. The most accurate ammunition ever made was 308 match ammunition for the US Army marksmanship team. It gave a 10 round half-inch grouping at 100 yards with a machine mount indoors (no crosswind). IOW, not only do you have the variance of the rifle, but you also have the accuracy of the ammunition. Ammunition has a variance just like rifles.

    A lot of that has to do with the lack of layering and material density/elasticity changes.
    So they are somewhat accurate, but still tend to be less resilient than the real article.
    You could make a crazy realistic model with skin, fat, tendons, muscle, with all the proper layering, but you wouldn't want to shoot it. You really wouldn't want to pay for it and then shoot it.

Last I checked, bullets do their damage by piercing the skin and tumbling in the body, and grazes from bullets are effectively a combination of laceration and burning.

    Couple things. I can't find it now but one of the media outlets posted a picture of what they said was the weapon used and it was an AR with a bipod and a big scope on top. Now it comes out that it was a red dot. Not really surprised that they ran with the first picture of a scary AR that they could find for the article. Stay intermediate practice is fast as more important than being accurate.
    I had a red dot on my rifle years ago for about 2 hours. And it was accurate as long as you held the rifle in the exact same position every time but if you moved your head the dot moved a little bit. The idea that other than a video game you're going to be accurate in more than 75 yd with one is ridiculous.
    The idea that an AR round expands and blows a big hole when it exits is true, however it needs to hit enough material for the bullet to actually expand. There's not enough resistance in the ear for that to happen.
    In regardless of what God you believe in it is an absolute miracle that he turned his head a quarter of a second at most before the shooter pulled the trigger. Otherwise we would be in a very different situation right now.
