    Viewed Courtney, along with Nita as her co-worker twice. Both not only have extraordinary guitar skills, but both are very fun girls that can bring a smile with just there natural sences of humor. They make memories with ease, in a simplicity format. Very genuine girls in both of them. I just was memorized with there being so highly efficient, as well as being so nice. Both are spectacular woman with alot of good ideas/thoughts.

    The real trick to this is being able to make the harmonic sound with out hearing the slack, detuned string in the millisecond(s) before the harmonic note is "struck". My method (yes, im a guitar player) is to dump the bar while my fret hand mutes the strings then pluck the string with my left hand index finger while almost instantly placing my middle or ring finger over the harmonic....takes tons of gain and compression. Of course im pretty sure when dime recorded the studio version he probably just plucked the harmonic like you normally would with a pick the jumped on the whammy pedal and raised the pitch the wiggled the tremolo bar to get his vibrato at the top end of it....again, tons of gain and sustaining compression.
    What shes doing is really pretty basic. What made dime's method so amazing was how long he could sustain the harmonic at the end doubling anselmos screams.... Ive seen Pantera several times back in the day but dont remember how he achieved this effect live because i was never close enough to the stage to see exactly what he did but i always assumed he relied heavily on the whammy pedal.

    The first time I heard harmonic screams was around 1985. I was watching Hirax live and the guitarist would do them from time to time. I loved it and wanted to know what the hell he was doing. I didn't figure it out for a few years when I got a Floyd equipped guitar.

    Matias Eaklund i think is how its spelled does this as naturally as most folk drink water. Anyone who grew up in the hair era (Pantera Roots) learned Floyd’s and how to get them to go nuts. Ibanez built a better machine with their Edge Trems and L-Pros (see Steve Vai) that would need a hand grenade to knock them out of tune, allowing aggressive players to hammer the bridge and keep moving without a tune. For those a bit older see guys like Jeff Beck, who have a light touch and achieve moves like this off an old Fender Float bridge. It’s all in how you tickle the pickle.

    • @donkarnage6032
      @donkarnage6032 4 года назад +2

      I agree. Mattias Eklundh is probably the best I've ever heard at using this technique musically. Most players use this as some sort of trick while Mattias has truly incorporated it into the way he plays.

    • @AdwaitPatil
      @AdwaitPatil 4 года назад +1

      Mahn I couldn't agree more ,I always wondered how on Earth did Steve vai didn't loose tuning or broke strings while doing what he's known for doing which is ramming the guitar literally and figuratively, though the hand grenade part got me LMAO 😂

      They're both harmonic screams, but Satch uses a different technique. To do it his way, use the picking hand to hit a pinch harmonic between the pickups on an open string while reaching over with the fretting hand to manipulate the whammy bar.

      Its actually alot to do with the amp and distortion you choose and ALOT of compression as well .. the 5th and 7th fret on G string are the easiest to get, then 2nd 3rd frets also work. This technique works best on G string. The Diving and flicking the string on the harmonic location on the string is basically what it really is. You have to time the flick which is the hardest thing to do.

    If i were her I wouldn't have done this spot. She needs to break away from being known as the chick from the iron maidens...Even in this spot shes being featured for emulating someone else's playing. Im not knocking her ability but theres a time when you have to break away from being in a cover band kinda like Nita Strauss did. She left the IMs then joined alice cooper then struck out on her own. Again, not knocking her skills but shes still young enough to make a name for herself and not be pidgeon-holed into just being known as the "chick from the iron maidens" kinda like Gretchen Menn being pidgeon-holed as being known as the "chick from Zepparella"...

    • @metalmayhem672
      @metalmayhem672 5 лет назад

      If Nita leaves Cooper she's going nowhere. I think her instrumental album sucked. It's dated sounding and the mix is horrible and on top of that she butchers her own songs live. I watched clips from her solo tour, she was a sloppy mess. I know she has issues with her left hand and it shows, she sounds like she's playing with a broken hand at times. Her intonation is horrible. I don't understand how you play for as long as she has (and be in a pro band) and still be that sloppy and inconsistent. She also needs to dump the short fat Mexican who plays drums for her and get a real drummer.

    I always thought Courtney Cok was a better guitar player than her friend Nita Strauss. Courtney is cleaner, has better vibrato and plays in key...which helps.
