I never realized how bad light pollution was until I went to the Colorado Mountains and looked at the night sky. I was overwhelmed by the number of stars you can see without the lowland light pollution. The bright sky was covered with large and small stars and the quantity of stars was amazing. The memory still blows me away and that was decades ago.

@@jobuckley2999 I should have been more aware since when I was little I grew up in Fort Davis and there were rules about night lights. The observatory isn’t too far from the Davis Mountains. 😊

Oh no, I had never thought of how light pollution affects turtles! It's good to hear some changes are being made. I felt the same way about Dune - I really enjoyed it overall, but it felt like there was something missing in the second half (well, apart from Duke Leto!)

The Darkness Manifesto sounds good. I was thinking about light pollution recently because I grew up in a country that had very little light pollution in the 80s. I remember incredible night skies. I also remember we were burgled 3 times over the years, so the comment on safety resonates 😢😅

Reading sounds good. The cleaning noise wasn’t audible to me, but I have a fan on making noise too. Oh that was a near butt shot - I’m afraid of those too. Especially if my orange guy gets in the wrong position, I’ll have to blur it out.

Don’t be intimidated by DQ. The Grossman translation is great. My only criticism of DQ is that part 2 felt very repetitive and, therefore, long.
