I can’t imagine BookTube without Books and Things!
This was warm, open, funny and interesting and very much reflects the “you” that we see each and every time we click on your videos. So glad to hear you say that making booktube videos is “ sheer joy” for you because it is definitely that for your subscribers. Informative and great fun. A delight! Thanks Katie.
I loved the story of how you found your dream job that you didn't know you wanted. I feel I've done the same thing, Thank you for sharing.
Loved this Katie. It was really interesting to hear about your writing process - great idea to write a short story for character background. I don’t have a specific question but if it’s ever possible, I would love to see a video on one of your excel timeline documents as I can’t get my head around what that might look like! I’m glad booktube brings you so much joy - it has also made me so much more confident as well, so I can relate!
This was fabulous. Such an interesting video. Congratulations on all you have achieved and thanks for letting us into your life a little more 😊
I loved the little sneak peaks behind the scenes 😊
It’s so interesting that you and your brother entertained yourselves by world building like the Brontes.
Congratulations on reaching 30K subscribers!
“A lot of space for analysis and no space for love.” Absolutely nailed it! I got a Masters in English and Education and you just described academia perfectly! 🎉 WHY JUST WHY do we take the joy out of books and reading when we get older? No one ever seems to want to celebrate the joys of reading a vivid description in one of Dickens’ novels. They want to discuss the symbolism of the bathtub or the mill. I mean, that analysis can be interesting too, but not at the expense of joy. This video is so great! And I chuckled when you showed how many times you attempted to articulate/explain a concept! 😂 It makes me feel much better about my notes and struggles to explain things on my little channel to know that even someone who has a big successful channel can have challenges, too. Thanks for doing that, Katie! 😊
A day in the life of an editor...would be fun.
I have been waiting for the "Things" part to fhe Q&A for a while. Beautiful answers. Thank you for answering the question! I didn't realize that succesful authors can not be published after being published, that's so stressful! I have similar feelings on academia. I'm very much looking forward to the 5 Ph.D ideas in Victober...hey maybe one day you'll write a book about booktube and call it "Room for Love." I agree so much with that feeling, it's why I joined too and had similar feelings in school
Loved this video Katie❤ you are inspirational and your enthusiasm for your BookTube work is fabulous. Thank you.
Another great q&a. So reassuring to see you also need to edit the umms and several runs at the same sentence! 🙈
As a fellow author, I felt you. Although my field is non-fiction, the publishing industry is so hard and complex! I have published five books, and even now I'm never sure if my next one will have a publishing house. So kudos to you for all your hard work and effort! Wonderful attitude toward RUclips by the way 😉
I love that it has given you the confidence with all the ums, ahs and pauses 😊 you have so many interesting thoughts.
Great video- I always seem to say that! Very transparent on your career & your Booktube life!
Lovely to watch this 😊
Totally resonate as an author with your mountain metaphor! And with the instability of it and never feeling like a 'proper author.' I remember saying to someone once that when I got a bestseller back in 2014 it felt a bit like winning the x factor, except the audience had gone home and the judges had fallen asleep 😂
This was great! Thank you for answering my questions! 🤗
Congratulations on 30K!!!
Your essay on A Tale of Two Cities sounds really interesting!
Yes! Vennels for the win! Can't believe it's taken me this long to realise you also went to Durham (albeit 5 years after I graduated). Love your content.
Such an interesting video, fascinating hearing all your writing history and careers. Thanks for sharing so generously.
Great video, very interesting. Your love of books is very evident and contagious. I found your channel 2 years ago during JAJ and it inspired me to get back into reading novels. I am loving it - thank you. A couple of days ago I was very excited to find that Waterstones in Edinburgh had your novel on the shelf - the only reason I didn’t buy it is because I already own it! So pleased to hear that you have achieved the career you dreamed of and I hope you continue to share your knowledge, talents and enthusiasm for a long time 😎
Such a great, interesting and fun video to watch! Thank you 👍👍👍
Books and Things, great content keep up the amazing content
I love your enthusiasm for reading.
I would love to see a video of your ideas for a hypothetical Victorian lit PhD! But as someone doing a PhD, I think you're making the right choice by not doing one. It's a rather miserable experience. 😂😭
50,000 words of nonsense was a great accomplishment for twelve year old you. Gotta start somewhere. I wish I'd stuck with writing 'nonsense' on a regular basis. :)
You are an editor and author, how you choose to introduce yourself to someone else is up to you. The Trouble With Mrs Montgomery Hurst is a very enjoyable read and is a welcome addition to anyone's bookshelf. Now to get over the fact you and your brother as children plagiarised the Brontë children.😂
