Libro Primo d'Intavolatura di Lauto
(First Book of Lute Tablature) Roma, 1611. Year of album release: 1995.
Four hundred years and the beauty of this music still finds its way to us... What an infinite experience. My humble compliment to both the composer and its interpreter!
To all this people who want the wars all over the world : listen to this music, incorporete beauty, kindness, calm and hope…Evviva la musica barocca ❤Grazie mr. Smith
Kapsberger ... one of those late Renaissance/early Baroque forgotten masters. Forgotten but always there. Smith is a remarkable musician who mentored other excellent masters esp. Rolf Lislevand.
Excellent compositions, excellent interpretation, excellent recording. Gratitude and thanks to everyone who made these precious gems available to all.

I had to write to Hopkinson Smith on his website: " Thank you for the profound beauty that you breathe into your instrument. Please inhale that beauty as you play. "
Could listen to this forever, thank you & grazie mile for sharing these gems !!!
I keep coming back to this and it's a little bit more soul -satisfying each time. Thanks so much for posting it, because I'd doubtless never have run across it otherwise and it's becoming one of my favorite works.
This comfortable sound is a sound of the soul
Something Incredible, and Incredible comfort, and Incredible feelings
I can't tell how fascinating it is to me ! :)
The essence of an Era ! The nuance of the shadowed trees and forests, ...the eloquence of halls and castles...
Nice...

Absolutely gorgeous stuff. Thank you so much for posting.
+marsvltor2 you're welcome!
That Canario dance at 6:26 heals the wounded heart of any Soul; just by listening, almond trees are evoked in full bloom; pink snow petals gently falling on the dancers below!
So MANY thanks to everyone who makes this BEAUTY possible!
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you Rocco for posting this recording ,Grateful !
Wonderful, thanks :-)
You're welcome!
great music. subtle too. thanx a lot
thanks this is really beautiful
Grazie!
grazie per il commento!
Loving listening to this as I type out a document on the computer.
The Canario is one of the most beautiful lute pieces ever composed.
ha, ha -- funny to hear that from Death..... :) ... it IS beautiful! a piece to dance to....
SPOT ON! ,,, And heals the wounded heart!
Thank you!
Grazie!
magnificent.
Excellent !! Kapsberger played by Hopkinson Smith is a sure bet for enjoyably sounding music !
Thank you!
surprenant de beauté
gracias, se agradece.
Hop. è il Signore del Liuto!
Only Russians can phrase something in the way the whole world was created to serve them. Read people's comments. Try to express how important this music is for you. There is nothing shameful to say: "I keep coming back to this..." or "...profound beauty that you breathe into your instrument"... Be a human, Vlad.
The needless roast is so hard it is actually cringe. He just said it in informal funny manner, you don't need to sound elitist or classy to share sentiments on classical pieces. That is what makes us humans.
Beautiful. an other beautiful one is: french lute baroque.
Does someone knows the name of the author of the painting? thank you!
Tutto questo grazie a Johann Hieronymus , Hopkinson e Rocco. I Cieli rendano merito a queste persone.
finally figured out the type of music they use for the stainless steel mod
What is the name of the 1st piece ?
!!!
Found it! Galliard 5 but this version has more notes and is very nice !
Too many notes, Herr Kapsberger, too many notes..... ??
xx
😄Danke
This 1st tune is beautiful ! Is there a special tuning or can I, with a little modification ,make it playable on my 8 course lute ?
No modification necessary- it fits perfectly on an 8-course in renaissance tuning! The Tab is available on the Dartmouth Lute Page.
Toccata Arpeggiata 47:25
