As someone whose garage is mostly Rogue stuff…. I am happy and sad at the same time. Happy because Rogue now acknowledges they have a “competition” - this is a win for the consumers. Sad because this is TOO LATE!! I bought a separate cable machine and lat pull down machine - ain’t no way I am selling and move things around. Would love to have all in one Rogue rack/ cable - but too much effort to sync in with this late innovation.

Completely agree with you regarding the pull-down bar rubbing the uprights and the low row being too low. I'm not sure there is much of a noticeable difference between the aluminum and plastic pullies, but I'll take your word for it that the aluminum is a smoother pull. In that case, the option to purchase the upgrade would be nice. The Rhino integration is fantastic and a smart move on their part! The option to anchor it to the wall for additional stability is also very nice.

The single stack setup not having the ability to setup different weights on each trainer handle is a big miss compared to the Ares IMO- the ability to use either as a station for two different users at the same time or for two different movements as a super set is something I use in my gym almost daily.

Looks neat, and more options is generally better for the market but I think the MAXUM SX2 rack has all the options beat right now, you get the same 3" x 3" 11-gauge steel, dual stacks with included weight horns to add plates, articulating arms for the functional trainer, plus a smith machine w/leg press all while costing less than Rep or Rogue options when you compare with all the attachments the MAXUM includes.

I had the RML6 with the weight stack slinger and never really liked it. The slinger was so loosely designed that If you had less then 50 lbs on it the selector rod would bang the edges of the plate still on the stack every time you came down. Travis S did a review and contacted Rogue and they didn't seem to care. I sold the whole thing on CL and moved on to Rep. I have an 8 post 4000 with an Athena on both sides and a lat/low row in the middle. All with weight stacks and couldn't be happier. I do love all my Rogue barbells though.

Good to see Rogue doing this. I’ve been feeling like home gyms are such a small piece of Rogue’s business that it was affecting the versatility of their rack ecosystem for home use. If they do this right, they’ll have taken a big step toward closing the gap that Rep has opened up on the home front. Now we need both companies to figure out ways to seamlessly integrate their stacks with accessories like lever arms, rack mounted leg extensions/curls, a good belt squat (not the one rep currently sells), and even weighted (or assisted) dips.

One thing Rogue doesn’t list on their site is the length of cable travel when using both functional trainer handles at the same time. Unless they redefined physics, I’m predicting 76” of travel with one arm and 38” of travel when using both for a 90” height rack. For a 108” rack it would move up to 94” of travel for one arm and 47” when using both. This could be a big trade off depending on what movements you want to do off the front.

People want to know that everything is going to work instead of trying to Frankenstein their Rack with multiple companies parts. Rogue has some work to do if they’re gonna pull ahead. I have said this before, but I think combining weight horns above weight stacks is smart, because it allows people to drop set easily, but can also go above a certain weight. Band pegs goes without mentioning. That should be a must on ANY weight stack in the future.

Other than barbells is seems like Rogue has left the home gym community behind. You can see rep designing products specifically for home gyms, while Rogue still seems to be focus on commercial gym sales. For example, Rep just released a $2,000 compact functional trainer that is smooth and looks high quality. Rogues only stand alone functional trainer is $6,500. I'm sure it's amazing and if you have no budget, go for it. But the FT-1 from Rogue seems marketed to a group class gym owner, while the Arcadia seems to be marketed to the high end garage gym goer. Same goes for Reps open trap bar and adjustable dumbbells.

The Titan fitness plate loaded functional trainer also does the same engineering trick to get a 2:1 functional trainer with 1:1 lat/low row using one stack. If you look at the pictures on Titan's website, there are a lot of pulleys needed to make this work. There's literally a 2:1 pulley joiner that seems to be the key piece to make this work. No doubt that Rogue's version will be much higher quality, but I would assume the basic engineering of the pulley layout is the same. I wish more functional trainers would add this option to have a lat/low row built in.

It's a very average rack at best (talking about BOS). But let's not bash the design. We are FINALLY seeing functional trainers/adjustable pulley systems incorporated into racks. Companies probably thought they could get away with their incompatible ecosystems until the Chinese copy cats started flooding the market a while back. Now, big names have no other options but to finally design well thought products.

@@Stayafloat4869It's a solid option if you want a stand alone functional trainer with adjustable pulleys/weight stack (their plate version doesn't have great reviews). I personally would not get two and make it a ''rack'' as it's not really designed for that purpose. I just would not purchase it for the ''rack'' feature as you'll most likely get something better down the road. It also all depends on your budget and gym space. I was once considering buying it but changed my mind. I would much rather recommend a 4 or 6 posts rack with adjustable pulleys and/or the low row/lat pulldown.

I would buy aluminum pulleys or order aluminum pulleys every time. HUGE difference absolutely worth it for the feel. Our FT-1 is a far better feel than the ML Slinger. Also, would love to see a leg roller attachment option for benches for leg curl/ ext. I think that would also function as a lat pull down seat that isn't always attached to the rack. I have the low row/ lat seat for my ML Slinger on the RML-06 its a pain to set up and tear down.
For gosh sakes can we get a pull down seat for the FT-1 already. I'm not hating I just want more ROGUE!

  • @Kparris7

It's not complicated, the cable from the stack goes directly to both the low and high pulls, but for the functional trainer that has another pulley that just pulls on the line, which cuts the load in half. Something like,
    _____
    connects to pulley-> | |
pulley on low row line -> O |
    | | * func trainer
    | |
    to stack*__| |__*low row

Personally, if the shipping weren't too bad, I'd buy the RM-6 now. I ordered mine at the beginning of October and didn't get it until February due to a whole bunch of screw ups with the shipping...
