- With the recent Stage 2 remap for my M140i, I thought it would be silly not to upgrade the brakes too! I head up to Motech Performance to have a set of EBC uprated discs & pads front and back, along with some other goodies...

Thanks for watching! :-) Авто/Мото
A few things to note:
1) This was before I got my haircut...
2) Filmed before the tune & downpipe
3) Alcantara wheel hadn’t been fitted yet
Hope y’all enjoy!
I can tell 😂
Love how you have to state this was before your haircut 😂😂
Address the previous video issue.
Thanks to motech for all the detailed explanation with everything on the vids. That guy knows his stuff. Like regarding pads and stuff and heat and upgrades etc. Really well done.
Yellowstuff are great I've used for road. No noise, bite from cold and love getting hotter and hotter with no pad fade. EBC do list specific break in that you'll need to do on a motorway at night when quiet.
Would you mind doing a video on what you think of these brakes. I need new pads and discs and I’ve heard mixed reviews of the ebc yellow stuff. Other option is DS2500 thanks.
Keep those mods coming 🤘🏻... great vid as always...
Earth Dreams UK thanks buddy!
Never seen a man's hair grow so fast😅
Dan Hurren 😅
Great video! Thinking of similar brake upgrade myself! How would you say the brake dust and noise compare to stock setup? By the way are those stock calipers for the M140i?
Awesome upgrades...car is a one off👌👌👌stunnin...👌👌👌top videos Luke
Johnny C thanks a lot!
What tyres do you have on your 140 I ? also what size are they
Where can I get m240i black eyebrow trim?
You can code M brakes with ESYS on these to improve the feel as well. Not super expensive either. Look into that also!
How much is the P3 gauge to buy and have fitted?
wow new discs and pads!!!!!
Nice Video man, how long did the break pads last
Hey mate, I fitted the exact same setup a couple months ago. Love them but I’m suffering some noise when not on brakes. How is the noise for you?
What was the cost of x4 disc & all pads?
You might have already said in another video but how much mpg have you got after the stage 2 remap?
Hi Luke noticed on your wheels near the centre cap there is gap for the m sticker you should get some that’s what that little gap is for will look good!
aadil sabir working on it!
They actually look really cool! 👍
Thank you! I love them 😍
How much they charge for the brake installation?
Your hair grows quick mate.
3:18 the Nürburgring Nordschleife is actually not a very hard track for the brakes, there is relatively less hard braking zones and a lot of high speed which will help you cooling down the brakes - you can go there even with full stock M140 brakes
Any annoying new sound after fitting slotted/dimpled rotors?
Did the same upgrade with slotted/dimpled rotors and. Crickety chirping sound is unbearable almost with windows down.
Do u seel the old one?
Nice man 💪🤟🤟
Thank you!
Bluestuff is still a fast road pad, RB-1 and RB-X are the racing pads
Could you include the prices paid for these modifications in your videos please
They look Great on the BMW 👍🙂
Thanks!
Just put EBC yellow stuff on my mini cooper S. Nice improvement over stock. They squealed a bit for the firdt few hundred miles though
cooperSpartan117 that’s expected for the bedding in process
@@hampshirephoto you've not addressed the issue from your last video yet, please oblige
Should have gone straight a big 6 or 8 piston BBK on the front and just a standard disc/pad upgrade on the rears.
Tire writing ? Think it would look mint
Don't the OEM discs have aluminium hats?
Next mod
Switch out the silver metallic panels in the interior of the car with carbon fiber or wrap them gloss black.
Great video 🔥🔥🔥🔥 .Just wondering if you have to do another modification what would it be .You already done everything you could on it
Brayton thank you!
What is your suspension? I forgot, do you have coilovers or lowering springs?
Lowering springs (Motech stance +)
You should have look at the AK Motion data display instead of the P3. That just looks like a 1970’s calculator.
Motech: the garage that know less than the average do it yourselfer
Why’s that?
Harry Tilley tbh was prob a bit unfair - but they just do the most basic mods and explain them terribly....and charge a lot - why would you not do brake lines?! They make a HUGE difference especially when you know he’s going on track. - having said that, if people aren’t willing to do their own research then fair enough. Motech saw the gap and took it 🤷♂️
Hi Luke what’s the brake dust like on these I’ve heard it creates HP logos on the alloys
😂👍
Driving With Ben 😂
They look Great on your BMW 😎
Adrian Dörflinger thanks!
Only after a year with these discs, I need new ones 🤔
Question: would this be classed as a modification in terms of insurance. I can see why the disk would be but at the same time it might not be as they are a wear and tear item!
I work in insurance and no it would not be
first! Also, great video! Loving the way the M140i is heading!
I don't care. Sorry, But I really don't
Thanks buddy! Another 140 mod video scheduled for Saturday...
How much was it for everything you had done mate ?
@Louis Sidnell no it wasnt lol, he's asking about what he got done in this video not everything combined. If he's talking about everything combined then yh around 4 5gs
Great upgrade bruh! How about the brake calipers? Any plans ?
Not yet!
hampshirephoto how about darking out the lights ? I reckon will fierce out your ride!
The OEM BMW Discs are Perfectly fine even for track use, no need to replace these: 340/345mm OEM discs are even used for 4h race series on Nürburgring VLN/NLS series on F30 328i Race car.
Better to replace the fluid and pads first and stay with the very good OEM discs:
Use M4 OEM pads, BMW Performance Pads (can make Noise, but more Track resistent) or go for aftermarket like DS2500, Endless (MX72, ME20/22) or Pagid 29. Wouldn’t choose ebc pads:
There are a lot of bad reviews for ebc yellow stuff pads when used on track, they got complete destroyed
I know many years ago EBC had a bad reputation. I've had drilled & grooved discs on my Mondeo ST years ago and they warped really badly after 1k miles. But a lot of people are using them now so I assumed they'd sorted out the issues. Obviously not. I'd keep my old discs as a backup if I were you.
That tuning company should give you a plaque on the wall outside 🤣
When are you going to do a video on the comments saying your power readings are incorrect due to the car climbing the roller
hi from Ukraine, Luke )
I am thinking about buying an M140i next year from Germany, do you think this car will still be valid for 5 years?
I look after the car every day with the ability to drive, because it is like the only car. The rear wheel drive m140i is simply the best solution in my opinion in this budget.
edit: ..sorry for my bad english, i heard the english don't like it
M140i machst du nichts falsch billigeres für die Performance kriegst du nicht
My EBC disc's got warped after 1 trackday on my F20. Watch out with them. I know a guy who's disc's got cracked after 4 months
Mike's wig always makes me giggle
If Ur going to do any amount of time on track this set-up is not going to cut it, even hard road driving my discs same as these warped in no time, 2 piece discs are the way forward, coming from experience
What system have you got (exhaust)
Info update! If youre gonna get your gearbox mapped go straight for stage 3...... its the best one apparently. Ill soon find out 😁
You drove past me on Sunday in a convoy whilst I was having a roast at a pub in Easton 😂
Haha awesome! Sorry if I disturbed you 😂🙏🏻
hampshirephoto we ruined Easton 😂
@@hampshirephoto Yeahh.. sorry if I disturbed your lunch lmao
If u think about going on track with The car, then yellows from EBC are not good choice at all... They will be gone very quickly, and thats info from Fiestas owners, with your heavy car it might be even worse...
Also unlike the seller says, would change the brake lines and fluid even before the pads and discs cause brake will fade anyway if u have standard rubber lines
Are these carbon ceramics?
No they’re not
Have these Motech guys ever done any serious drive on track with there performance ‘Upgrades’ ?! ...my feeling is they do only optical tuning without any testing or proof of gains in performance
Check out Ebc channel you will see the world the put in 👍
Motech Performance thanks for answering. But this wasn’t actually the correct answer to my question if you or someone you refer to ever made personal track experience with these different brake pads (specially ebc yellow stuff) on the BMW F chassis ?!
You're a brave lad using EBC breaks - they are rubbish! You should have used AP disks with DS2500 pads 👍
Ive got 370mm AP racing floating discs and ferodo DS performance pads on my RS3 8v and it cost over £3,000 just for discs and pads so they are massively expensive , come to think of it there a total waste of money really
OEM Discs are fine - when combined with good/fresh fluid AND proper pads like Endless or Pagid
Yeah , right. Dream on
There is also a reason they don't use drilled or dimpled disks on F1 or rally cars.... They crack!!!!! Slots are much better.
Ebc pads are rubbish, have had reds, yellows and even blues fall apart on me over the years on different cars.... ds2500 are good used them on track too but not had them on my m140i yet, tempted to try them or pbs pro race next (check them out, used in civic cup races)
These cars are starting to turn into the fiesta sts of a couple years ago 🙄 everyone with the same mods
Keeping them standard is your best bet long term.
It's because of big gains for small change only reason
Keep modding them, it only makes the originals worth a bit more.
He has now officially modified everything. The car is its own brand now
AR not quite everything 👀
hampshirephoto well maybe the last thing would be a wrap to change the color.
I think your hair has increased by 20bhp to with them mods
Much prefer the MK5 GTI
My hair grows really slow compared to yours. 😂
When u crash it....u need who Gona blame and what u Gona sue.... I don't like EBC...feel like ice-skating ....I prefer DS2500 or ATE disc
Mate you really need a haircut.
U look like Harry Potter without the magic
Thanks
You've still not addressed the issue from the last video you posted
Read the pinned comment - it was filmed before.
@@hampshirephoto are you not reading the posts people are putting about the inflated figures or choosing to ignore.
Are you not reading the statements where I explain how this video was filmed BEFORE the tuning video?! 😂🤔
@@hampshirephoto I've read and perfectly understand what you're saying. You just seem to be avoiding my question. Regardless of when THIS video was filmed, are you going to address the issues raised in your other video.
@@hampshirephoto infact don't worry about it, I'm just going to report you to YT for posting a video endorsing a company that clearly is over inflating figures in order to get more revenue. And then the company to Trading Standards for the same.
You can’t even fit new brakes yourself 😂
Partnering up means the parts were free and maybe even installation, so this is an undesclaimed advert. Not an objective review!!!
Who cares?
Evidently not you
