    Some people complain about your videos being to long. I look at it like your a college professor and your talking to the class. Explaining every detail with good short stories. The best part is it's all free!! A lot of people are in a rush and want to find the short cut solution. You give it in detail and explain with straight talk,no BS. :)

      Camp Freedom VT I cannot agree more! Scott’s tangential tidbits provide a greater context for the subject at hand. I always loved professors who would follow a tangent of thought and had energy. The internet has plenty of 30 second “tips n tricks” top ten chop-edited whatever videos. I love having a source for longer unedited videos. It is just like a fun lecture, you are so right.

I'm in Florida and I can detail cars all year round,for the most parts. After watching your videos it has pushed me to get back into again. I will be watching your videos and if you don't mind posting some questions for you here and there

    Hey Scott. I’m
    Late to the party. I just wanted to thank you so much. I’ve watched a ton of your videos and I’ve learned sooooo much. I have a 14 year old Acura TL that had probably Never been properly detailed. I know I hadn’t in past 3 years. Well I must say I probably
    Have the nicest looking TL of that era aside from ones that have been repainted etc. it’s a daily driver so there’s issues etc I can’t correct with out some actual body work. I came across you after having repainted my bumper after an accident and also redoing a front fender. Learned how to do all that on RUclips as well. For a first timer I’d say it came out pretty good. Well I was looking into ways to get the work I’d done blend more into the car and also how to fix some clear coat screw ups and over sprays. I learned about using different compounds and pads to do so from you. I managed to get a door I had tried to just touch up but the clearcoat just didn’t match the rest of car and door to blend perfectly by really
    Cutting into it with Meguiars microfiber pad and M105 by Meguiars. Anyways it’s become an obsession now of mine lol. Completely did my finances older highlander black and that looks like new! I learned it all from you. Currently have just a harbor freight DA BUT ITS been a work horse. Have variation of pads from Chemical guys and lake country etc. NOw that things are good with car I’ve been using 3d speed and either Orange or white pad with awesome results. Thanks for all you do! Oh I want one those Marolex dispensers when you get them in!

    I'm lucky for a lay person but I have been blessed to have know some true master of auto paint and body. To watch those old men work was exciting. At least to me I wish I could remember their names after all these years. This one old man was a really nice man. He told his precious time to explain to me what he was doing. He said the foundation was not the frame but the body. He said the frame can take care of itself. I watch he restore that car for 2 weeks. Lord it was gorgeous after he finished. Museum quality work for sure. He took so much pride in his work. For hour using an orbital sander and wet sanding until that body was ready for the paint. I think it was a Pontiac LeMans he was working on. Funny how we remember the little things when he get older.

    • @ImranAli-rp4kd
      @ImranAli-rp4kd 2 года назад +1

      Technically makes no difference what colour car it is as your working on the clear coat and not the colour base coat , best to practise on cheaper car but one thing you need to remember is some cars have soft clear coat and some have medium or some have hard clear coat , so one pad and compound may work on one car but not the other , best to do a test spot to check what type of clear coat your working with so you can use the correct pad and polish , start with the least aggressive and move up if you need to , but black car makes no difference and the only difference is , every little swirl or haze will be visible compared to a silver or white car , might be good idea to get a paint depth gauge especially if you don’t know the history of the car , that way you’ll know if any panels been repainted and you’ll know how much paint you got to work with , one panel won’t have consistent level of paint so some parts of one panel may be a lot thinner paint than other part of the panel

  • @svr73

    what matters with polish formulations is what type of formula is it and what solvents are in it. they can be water in oil which most are and is not right or oil in water which is the better way to go for sure. the wrong solvents can impact negatively on the gloss, colour and clarity that can be achieved. some are low quality, some are excellent. your wetting the pad method is great, similar to damp compounding and with a product like M105 it is ideal. 105 is a good product but what it cost to make was peanuts compared to what they sold it for, humongous difference. I really love how honest you are and you bring some fantastic alternate methods and some things that the industry big wigs may not like. love that new york accent. the spraying water and wiping is exactly how I remove my favourite polishes. keep doing what your doing scott. menzerna FG400 is one of my most hated products. yes it cuts but the formula is not good. it's like grease in a bottle.

    Hey mate, love the channel!
    Recently did my first machine correction (Black R36 Passat) and after some testing and fiddling settled on a two stage with S3 XXL white scholl spider pad and finished down with S30 with a shinemate red.
    In my youtube searching i've come across an interesting thing, some right handed people use their right hand at the front of the machine and balance with their left, and some right handed people use their right hand to balance the machine and use their left hand at the front. Any reason for this? Or is it down to personal preference?
    Keep up the good work!

    I've been trying to find the answer to some atypical questions and it's friggin impossible, Scott, I washed my car with degreaser (I had the stuff in the purple can before it was cool!) and was going to do some paint correction when I got called into work. I've put like, 3 miles on the car, it's the same day, can I get away with doing a rinseless wash (despite that it was "wax-like agents") and move on to the M105 on a wool polisher or should I top down wash it again? And what do you do inbetween products? Full wash, rinseless or just wipe down and move on to the next product?

  • @ralphbrooks4494
    @ralphbrooks4494 7 лет назад

    Hey Scott, hope you can help me with my challenge. when do you break out the sandpaper? I want to remove severe Honda red paint oxidation and fading. I've been unable to find the right combination of compound and pad to get it back to red. The compounds range from Meguairs rubbing compound, 105, 205, ultimate compound, ultimate polish, Mother's Showtime, carnauba cleaner wax, yellow clay bar, Griots Garage 3 in 1, orange foam pad, I'll try anything before having it painted. I've made several pass to the rear panel and it's original red came back with a small speckled patch of pink and red but its not a consistent color. I'm thinking of a 1500 to 2000 grit rub the car than use a compound. With your experience what do you think? I'm not a detailer but helping an elderly person with some TLC to her car. I want to do it right and not cut corners to restore the car color. I enjoy your videos keep the Big D shin'en

    I have the same DA with 6" backing plate .I ordered a 6" Meguires microfiber cutting pad but its slightly bigger on the backing plate. Do you always get a pad 1/2" smaller than what the DA is? I notice you have a 5.5 pad on the 6" DA ..

    Hey man, you must be making waves, already got haters watching you..
    I've been painting cars for years, and I didn't know that 3M own Meguiers, and I really couldn't care.
    Good one Scott.

    Scholls S30 black with a spider pad is my choice, it's all about the person, and their experience and technique.
