The level of information, mentorship and fatherly LOVE is so Freaking Awesome and inspiring. I once was too embarrassed and confusion about all the details of DETAILING. But Father Scott said "Just get out there & Polish something!" And so I did. Now, I have a crew of 20 detailers and Im carrying on with Father Scott's LEGACY of LOVE. Thanks MAN.
As a native New Yorker living in the south I LOVE listening to my native dialect! Good detailed instruction/instructor for a SUPER novice who's never considered washing her own car in the past and is now rebuilding a Mustang. Jescar and Sonax...here i come!
Lighting is everything, it almost looks perfect at the start but in the actual sunlight you will see swirls but it’s after it’s polished even to the minute scale it looks better and it’s all in the details where without the swirls the paint can truly be admired. I love your content keep it up
I can honestly say Scott, you have sincerely changed my mobile detail business for the better!!! I now use most of the products you recommend&employ your techniques for efficiency or to avoid fatigue (as I'm 51yrs young). The biggest change is my pricing, you posted another video on how you increased your pricing with your reasons. Took me a little time to understand this mindset but once I believed I was worth my increase, amazingly my cashflow has increased¬ one client questioned my increase...Perfect! Best of luck with your channel, detail biz, & new retail products. Thanks again, PC
i want to thank you ive been watching your videos since the beginning and now have started my own mobile detailing business thanks for all your help scott your the best we all love you
Thanks Scott. I’m just a weekender doing my own vehicle. This video helped me a lot. I followed your directions and just took out a ton of scratches and deformities on a used truck I just got.
One thing I LOVE about detailing cars is the customer is ALWAYS pleased with the results when polishing / correcting work is paid for. So many people neglect their cars paint they don't even know what it's supposed to look like anymore. Great video!
josher Yes sir! I have never had a problem selling a detail. Sometimes I hear “ I have never paid that much for a detail” but when they pick it up they are blown away. It’s a sense of satisfaction for me when they are excited after they see it and just keep walking around it with a smile on their face.
Hey scott I love your videos, you don’t bs anything, very clear and to the point. I own my own mobile detailing business and your videos definitely have helped me improve. keep up the great work!
Hey thank you!! I learned so much from your videos! I have a 2000 Tacoma that I love and after watching your videos i cleaned the paint polished it, removed scratches and now the paint shines and the trim is a nice dark black! Looks better than when I got it over 10 years ago!
As a complete newbie and somewhat intimated, I've watched a bunch of your videos. Thank you so much. Giving me some confidence and inspiration to try it
Big fan of your 'I'm not gonna overthink it' philosophy Scott. Overthinking is a very real thing in the detailing world from my experience so far. Most of us want our cars to look amazing but don't want to spend years of our lives making it happen. It's the old 80/20 rule that applies to most things in life, you can get 80% of perfection with your first 20% of time and effort, the last 20% if you want it is going to take a lot of time and effort and I have a life to lead! Great job yet again Scott
Takes a good eye to tell the difference. I sure can! My auction explorer was around a 45 and now she around 85.over 100 hours. I test everything I use in this explorer. If it works I use on my customers. My town is small so right now I charge $30 a hour. Hopefully one day I can go up. I'm just happy to do something I love
Perfect. This video breaks it down nice and simple for me. I am a beginner that got a new car and want to take better care than I did my last car. Great job !
Scott, I really want to thank you for your very informative videos. I have been very intimidated and just not comfortable attacking the paint on my cars (i'm 54 yo) after watching your videos I picked up a HF da polisher and some griots orange and red pads. I have a 12 yo Ford Truck that is going to a new owner and figured I would see what I could do. I went with your 1.5 step with griots fast correcting cream and hd speed. The truck is white and l cant believe the outcome. Not only am I no longer intimidated but I am excited to see what else I can do. I appreciate your approach and you have saved me a lot of money not buying into the buying products hype that is everywhere. Thanks
This panel is actually perfect to demonstrate to show people That cutting and polish doesn’t mean it will make ur car brand new deep scratches can’t get rid off
Great explanation, I've watched so many other videos that get so technical and fast paced that it actually put me off doing this, but this one was perfect, step by step without complication.. Thank you fot that, you got a new sub :)
Thanks for breaking the process down simply. What I really need is directions to get rid of the rated out clear coat and restore the paint then re-learn. If anyone has suggestions/directions to videos or whatever, I'd appreciate it.
Best video's I watch regarding any kind of detailing for automotive and reviews. I'd say your probably the best I've seen thus far!! Keep it up Scott!👍🏽👍🏽
What's with the thumbs down god some people just can't help themselves so called experts no doubt. Your videos are superb scott keep up the good work as an guy who in the last 2 year starting detailing your the go to guy I watch along with forensic detailing channel in the uk you both are very informative and helpful.
Good video for starters, I work at high volume body shop and we skip a lot of those in between steps. We still get awesome results. But instead we compound with a wool rotary and polish with rupes yellow pad with the menzerna 2500 polish. It works for us the best for the amount of time we get to buff and polish panels on both fresh paint and old paint
Scott your videos have allowed me to restore 2 of my vehicles to a new shine!! Thank you. When you did this demo you did not go down to the very front edge of the area (bottom 2"). Would you handle that section differently on an actual car? Thanks again for the awesome tutorials.
I miss these videos from you, Scott. Nowadays it just feels like you're all about your products, which is great, but I miss your tutorials and your reviews on other products.
RUclips is over. Every video nowadays is just some dipshit trying to sell you something. It's basically TV, but with no programming, only really long commercials.
Great video as always. One question, do you change the pad after each section passes on the compound or polish ? What are the pad care actions you use to increase the pad's life?
I see this is an old video but I just want to tell you that I really like your videos. Very knowledgeable. No salesman bs trying to sell ya something. I can tell the products you talk about are just ones you've used and really like and are passing along. Thanks man. I appreciate ya. I also wanted to ask you if there is a specific claybar you find better or if they're all the same. Thanks again
Very informative video Scott, thank you. I noticed that you mentioned Sonax (246300) Profiline CutMax in "Products Used" however, it was not mentioned in the video. The Sonax that is in the STEPS is their "Perfect Finish".
Certainly not too much talking Scott. Concise and to the point. I see too many other detailing videos where guys just go on and on and on where I switch off. That 18 min video flew in because it was right
Scott been buying a lot of products in the last year now have the AR Clean 1600 psi pressure washer but plan on moving out of state where brother lives in Texas and he told me he would help me with the detail stuff but eventually wanna work for myself doing it but plan on moving to Texas by the end of the year a long way from Michigan where live but am in a point of life gonna move on from Michigan plus want to go further with the auto detailing it will take a while to get really good doing it but am willing to put in the work to do it.
So to keep it simple, a cutting compound and depending on the damage to the vehicle prior, maybe a more aggressive cutting compound? Then a finish polish. I really want to get into paint correction atleast for myself right now, a weekend warrior and be able to do it for friends and family only if need be but I love auto detailing so trying to learn every aspect
Scott i am curious how you feel about ceramic coatings or have you ever made a video expressing your likes or concerns about them. Like you i really enjoy maintaining the paint on my wife, kids and own vehicles. And periodically polishing if needed follow by a sealant at the change of seaons here in illinois. I know that coatings takes the fun out of it
If you can apply a wax you can apply a coating... Coatings can be fine for some but they are extremely prone to water spots and require more maintenance vs a traditional sealant.. It's all about personal preference
Scott love the videos! Had a quick question when you do a 2-3 step buffing process do you compound every panel/section then proceed to step 2? Or or do you do both step on each section?
Glad to see that you are reinforcing what Esoteric uses with the Jescar and Sonax combo. Why aren't you using your go across, diagonal down, up and back across method on your section passes?
It doesn't matter how you move the pad over the paint, just do what's comfortable for you and make sure you have uniformed coverage in your 18x18 area... It's just personal preference
You know I thought I knew it all when it came to detailing. The more I watch your vids, the more I painfully realize I didn't know Jack. Lol. Keep it up, I'm learning a lot.
Can you use a caramic coating after you applied the compound? I was told that you would want to go over the surface after you are done polishing to remove any materials left behind after polish. It makes sense so it gives you better area to bind to
Like glass. And thank you for explaining how to do this. I wish I could post pics of my car I’m cleaning up. It’s a black car that is so dirty and oxidized it looks Matte and cloudy. I tried hand buffing with Meguiars Ultimate and it didn’t touch it. I wet sanded with 1000grit and I moved up to the 105 and BAM immediately started to clean it up. I’m going to swap over to an electric buffer to finish the car. It as just to physically taxing doing it by hand
I’m in Canada and have been a fine finish detailer for at least 25 years. Are you aware of some of the products here in Canada such as Frecla 3,6 and 10x also Maguires ultimate compounds. How do they compare to what you use?
Lead Poyzinun Clean pads every other pass with either a pad brush or compressed air. You can tell when a pad needs replaced with a clean pad but usually you need to put a fresh pad on after 2 panels. Hope this helps
The best method i have found is using a uro pad with a nano ceramic compound (1500+) then polish with desired polish and pad. Preferably a ceramic polish.
Great demo! Reflection showed you haven't shaved in a week. Recently used an AIO (Drive Nano PolishSeal) on my wife's car, but this inspired me to do a two step on mine (especially since summer heat is over). I presume you use the body solvent one panel at a time. QUESTION: When you do YOUR car, how many cutting pads and polishing pads do use use to do the whole car? Thanks so much for doing these videos!
yes I need a shave..lol...I use around 8 pads for the cutting phase on a 4 door sedan..yes you can use 3 pads and clean often but I like more pads available to me so im always working clean and just changing pads quickly through out the process...I will clean all pads later when im done with the car:)...your pads will last longer as well because you aren't working them hard all the time
Got my first 2 step job and just my luck Black… thank you for this good info really overthinking to finish would it just be simple sealant or can you do ceramic coating after?
Thank you very much Scott for the great tutorial. Quick question. Would you recommend spraying iron remover before washing? I was thinking that the dust and gritt can retain more product, therefore letting it work for longer
In addition to learning how to do this I am also hitting the back button to try to figure out what your camera is. It isn't clear enough to see. I think I am seeing a Canon G-I or so. Seems like there is something else printed but try as I might I am unable to capture that information. I then google that and there are a few more options . Would you mind sharing what your set up is. Thank you. Brenda
Scott, I'm really taking in a lot of info from your videos, thank you! I do have a question regarding my black Harley Davidson Street Glide. My main concern is the tight curves, both concave and convex. I'm thinking a 3 inch pad may be the best size to go with. Do you have any tips for polishing out that paint?
Thanks for the EXTREMELY informative videos Scott. I'm a car enthusiast and would really prefer to do my own paint correcting rather than taking it to a "detailer". I hope that you won't mind answering a question. 1. Can a 6" compact palm polisher be used rather than the larger type that you use in your videos? I bought one today before watching your videos, because I have a non-orbiting variable speed 7" polisher and I'm scared to death of damaging my paint using it. Though I have no problem spending the $70.00 for a orbiting variable speed polisher; Is it a must have to get good results? Thanks again, Liked and Subscribed.
I luv did guy...... Thank you Scott. I used 3M micro finishing compound, with Impiral Glaze. OK, I can't spell. I used 3M too remove orange peel from 6 coats of RM base coat, clear coat. Went threw too the primer! Live and learn... I going too give this product a shot, and keep it wet. Too much pressure! To much heat build up from lack of lubrication! Keep simple A? P. S It was my first paint job, but I learned from it.25 years ago... Old fart.
Great explanation for someone about to try it for their first time like me. Would you recommend doing more then 2 pads if your only using 2 liquids like a compound and a polish? Also is it best to put wax on by hand or with a DA polisher? Thanks for all the great tips!
As always, great video Scott! I have a new black car that for some reason has bad areas in the paint; noticed it yesterday as the sun was shining on it, you make using a DA polisher look so easy I'm thinking to give it a go in the spring/summer. I do have a questions though, it looks easy enough on a flat surface - hood, trunk or body panel but what about areas that are contoured, around headlights, black trim and places like windshield washer ports on the hood? For the contoured body areas do you just run straight across them with the contour or you you just go left to right and up and down to work the area like you would on a flat surface? In the places you don't want to get polish or hit with the polisher - do you tape up those areas? Or do you give yourself some leeway and stop an inch or so before getting to those areas? If I get up the nerve I probably would get the HF polisher and take your advice on getting a different backing pad and using the Lake Country Tangerine (they claim it is less aggressive then the orange (yup I'm chicken) ) and the Rupes yellow that you used with Sonax perfect finish since you said great things about how it makes a black car look. The car is a Hyundai if that matters. Any helpful hints about my questions.

Great video. Rinse, wash, clay, decontaminate, step 1 with the Jascar/yellow pad, then step 2 with the Sonax/Rupes yellow pad. Thanks!

Start with a least aggressive method first and then work your way up to one that takes out the amount of swirls/scratches that you want removed.
Worth mentioning about keeping the polisher cable out of the way when working on a vehicle.. usually over your shoulder.

Thank you. Brenda
Thanx for the car care videos! What's your take on Hydrosilex and similar products?
Nice video Scott! I'm going to try Sonax perfect polish. On my next round, again thank you so much for your videos!
thanks for doing this for us beginners
Love your videos brother, thanks for all the professional information
Scott,
I'm really taking in a lot of info from your videos, thank you! I do have a question regarding my black Harley Davidson Street Glide. My main concern is the tight curves, both concave and convex. I'm thinking a 3 inch pad may be the best size to go with. Do you have any tips for polishing out that paint?
Great video! You can use a small piece of sponge taped over the mic for your camera to kill most of that wind popping sounds.
Keep up the great videos. You do a great job. Have learned a lot.
Old fart.
Would you follow this up with a good wax? Thanks for the great videos Scott. I love your channel!
Yes..You always want to follow up with a wax or sealant..
Sorry for failing to mention that part
Does anyone else hear Alan Alda narrating this video?
Great video!
Great video! Thanks I just received some speed 3d today!
Always great work thank you Scott.
