@@georgecollard1779 we were trying to get uncle William’s chair and him back out in the fresh air. Uncle William had a stroke in early 2021 and never was able to get back into his chair. We had a foot rest custom fabricated to accommodate his every need. We lost uncle William last June. Please help someone else out with that controller/joystick! You guys rock!

Great video and information.
I’m wondering why does my select 6 chair make the chirping noise just like yours then nothing happens? All the lights turn on with the chirp then turn off. I had the chair off a charger for a few months so not sure if that has anything to do with it. So far your videos have explained more than he manual or other videos on RUclips!

Hey great video. I have an jazzy chair with the four pin control. I’m thinking of repurposing it and making remote control. I think I can use the four pin control but I need to know what each of the four pins control. Do you know what each pin does and which are which? I don’t have a controller with this chair but have tested and it is a functional base. Thanks
Hi Frank. I have a Jazzy Pride select 6. I replaced the keypad as you suggested. The chair works fine and responds to the joystick fine. What is happening is the relay kicking in to move the chair seems quite loud. What would I look for to correct that? Thanks, Dave

Hi Frank, Still another Jazzy problem; This time a Select GT; Brand new batteries, I replaced the controller box because I thought it was bad, I don't know how to test the controller. I tried the joystick on another chair and it works fine. I HAVE checked for voltage on MY unit at the joystick and AM getting 25,5 volts but it will not power on. No lights. This is a stumper so far to me. Thanks Frank!!
Hi Richard, I recently bought one of these used and thought I had the same problem you described. After awhile, I figured out that the problem with mine is in the power button. I have to hold it in for about 15-20 seconds before it comes on. It doesn't power up by just pushing the button and letting it go. Just an idea that may be your issue. Worth a try. I'm getting ready to go inside the controller to clean up the contacts and see if that helps. Good luck! Ken
Hey Frank. Frank here too. So I'll be Frank with ya. I'm looking to make my wheelchair remote controlled (turning it into a lawn mower). Do you know if I could hook up a receiver to the wires (spliced) that go to the controller. If so, what are the wire color codes for a Jazzy 600? Thanks for your video.
I have already made a rc lawnmower using a Jazzy. Dimension engineering makes a controller called a Sabertooth. Check it out. It works great and you dont have to screw around with the joystick.
The problem I'm having is. I get No Codes, I fully charge my batteries and then drive into the next room. I shut it off, do what I'm doing and turn back On. Well, It loses Bars. I drive back to my room and I either gain those Bars back or I have less. I can go from Full Bars to 2 Red Bars just by Turning Off and Back on. When I plug it in, I have a Green Flashing Light on Charger in like 5 minutes. I'm so worried about getting stranded somewhere! Batteries are 8 months out now. Could you please help me. I can't find anything that describes this problem and I can't afford to have someone come to my house and fix it. $159 per hour!

Thank you for your help. Hoping u can help me with a question. My chair was fully charged. I go down my little ramp that I use to get down about 4". When i tried to go back in my chair stopped on the way up and the yellow wrench lit up. It happened everytime i tried to get back into the house. Can you tell me what this yellow wrench and a stop would happen as I begin to go up the incline. Oh and the speed was slower than usual
It could be that your batteries are getting weak. It as well could be a joystick issue, Ive seen joysticks that "go bad" but still work but slower than before. Feel free to call me with any questions.

@@astrosmell thank you frank. On my small portable chair they said it was the motor. On my big chair the jazzy one, a tech is coming in on monday. It appears to have a service icon flashing orange and then beeps and flashes 8 times. They said it could be a wire lose or something about a communicator. I didnt really think anyone would respond. Do these things have gyro or accelerometers on them that go into a safe mode when they detect a uneven terrain?

I am working on the same model chair. The batteries charge and hold a 24v charge. I can't get the controller to turn on at all. In the past when it worked I would have to press the power button very hard to get it on. I have cleaned the contact point and the button with windex but still no luck. The cables look good and I will test for continuity. Any tips? I'd appreciate it very much.

Hi Frank. Thanks for your video. By process of elimination, I've determined I have a bad controller for my jazzy Select six. If I have you replace hime and I trade in my defective one, do you give any sort of credit it?
Yes we can, but repair is usually less expensive.

Hi Frank, I have the controller you are discussing here. The issue with the chair is that when it is cold meaning about 35 or 40° , you turn the chair on and go full speed it will almost immediately completely lock up and shut down. When this happens all of the lights on the controller flash 7 times. After that you need to restart the unit. If you go at a slower speed it will operate normally. I am guessing that it has got something to do with a board in the chair. I had already replaced the joystick portion.What do you think? Thank you
My guess would be a bad brake. Do you feel that it pulls left or right when it locks up?

Hi Frank!! I believe I have bought parts from you before. (Orlando, Florida??) Anyway, I'm working on a Jazzy select (Gray tires) (PG Drives joystick) I removed the knob, which was tight by twisting so I could remove the damaged boot below it to replace it. Everything was working fine before I did this. Now the joystick itself is sticky and won't return to center by itself. I'm wondering if I accidentally broke something inside of possibly tightened something in twisting the joystick? Thanks for any help!

We have a ACI 242000 charger and when we connect it we get 2 red lights is this normal ?? we think it used to show an amber light which turns green when charging is complete ??

Some chargers especially the "automatic" ones, require a minimum voltage to turn them on. If your batteries are really low, it is possible that the charger wont turn on. You could try using a car charger to get the batteries voltage up to "snuff" in order to trigger the auto charger to start. If that does not work, give me a call.

If you have a Rascal Scooter and the lights scroll from left to right and then the lights turn off. Push the power button then hit the horn twice and it unlocks it.
Mine is a Jet 3, will it work on it too?
My uncle has an older (2008ish) Jazzy Select with the 3 prong plug. The controller was bad when he bought it so purchased one online. Batteries are charged, everything connected. When you power it on, the led's begin flashing. They'll flash 8 times, pause, then repeat the 8 flashes again. What would this indicate?
Good speaking with you. 8 flashes is a controller (control module) error. You can send it in for repair.

We have a Jazzy Slect 6 with the 4 conductor cable, it's been in storage - now with new batteries when you turn it on all of the LEDs flash 9 times then pause and repeat, 9 more flashes, and keeps doing that. The nine flashes indicates that it is out of gear. The machine needs to be "locked down" via the two levers. If that does not do it, then either you have a bad brake, or micro switch. If that is not it, the computer may be wackadoo. In which case you can send it to us for repair.

Hi Frank. My joystick works fine for driving, all functions but turning on and off. I took off the keypad and cleaned it with alcohol wipes but no joy. I can turn it on and off by using a pen to short across two of the copper lines. Should I be looking at the controller instead?
Arcing metal across does work, but will kill your "trumpet" on the pcb. That can not be fixed. Best bet is to get another keypad.

Quick question. I have a 4 year old Jazzy select and the green power button does not work well. I have to hold it down for several seconds, sometimes two or three times before it will power on. Any suggestions? Thanks.

When I have the battery plugged in and it is charged. I’m getting no flashing lights for an error but the joystick doesn’t work. When I unplug it from power cord it doesn’t do anything, control light doesnt even come on.

well its not the joystick or the mod I replaced both of them so I got a question if you charge the 12v 35 ah battery with a 24v charger would the kill the 12v battery or would that kill the motors ? i keep getting a single red light blinking
Charging a single 12 V battery with a 24 V charger will definitely kill it and it wouldn’t take too long but two batteries in series that equal 24 V is what that charger is supposed to be charging so if you’ve been charging one at a time with a 24 V charger yeah you probably burnt out your batteries. The single blinking light indicates that your batteries are bad.

My dad got the wrong controller! The plug looks similar, but it won't fit into the other plug! He wants to stick pieces of wire into the four holes to bridge the gap. Is this a good idea?? Will it work? His free chair guy is never in town when he has a problem. Thanks!
Personally, Ive never tried it. But I have heard it once that a 4 pin gc will work with the 4 pin Vr2. I dont suggest it, it is up to you.

So, mine is that same controller, from the looks. I thought I was getting an error code, but mine was a little different as all my LEDs are blinking. They are blinking 7 or 8 times. 7 times on start then 8 seemingly at random. After I saw this I had to have no luck with that though. Maybe I am doing that wrong because i cannot get the joystick to chirp. I should say I just picked this up second hand and i was told the batteries were bad. I have a lithium battery i am trying to use. I think its all good though.

All i can do it power it on and it beeps a grumpy beep and all the lights flash 7 times then nothing. If i wiggle the stick sometimes it flashes all the lights 8 times at me. then i can power it off.
I can tell you with relative certainty, that it is your module. If you have the 3 pin joystick cord, even more so. If this is the case, we can repair it for $189. Frank 352 999 4477

I have the same problem. There is power to the 4 pin connector but no lights or no response from the joystick. I cant figure out how to get the joystick apart.

Hi Jim......I haven’t called as of yet but from what it seems I am going to have to send it in for repair.
On my joystick, when powered on I only have a red light on after charging all night. Could it be the batteries or the joystick?
One blinking LED indicates low batteries. Batteries after 6 months to 1 year, when not kept up (charged) will die. They will not come back to life after this period.

What does the reset button do?
It is down low by the tire but I don't know what it resets
That button serves as "fuse" in case of overload.. Does not "blow" like the older ones.

That is in lieu of a fuse. So if you ever have 0 power start by pressing the reset button.

I installed new batteries and everything worked fine. Then one day I turned it on and it was sequentially flashing. (charging cord was unplugged).. Then the next day it is doing NOTHING! Can't even just turn it on. Completely dead. Any ideas?

Hey frank my jazzy select 6 pulls to the right so i have to keep the joystick slightly to the left to go straight any ideas?
If you do not have something egregious like a dragging brake, a programmer can help straighten that problem out for you. You do need to have the programmer with the chair to get this done however. (it can not be reprogrammed in the chairs absence.)

I've replaced the programmer and the joystick with matching numbers too both. Still on the joysticks all lights flah 9 times and stop then 9 times again nothing is working

Thanks for this video Frank so I take it when you talk about what lights are illuminated you mean they are flashing? Flashing lights indicate a fault? Red through say orange staying on constantly with out flashing indicate battery state of charge remaining? Thank you for your reply..
Anthony, on these joysticks, the fault is found by counting the amount of flashes on the battery panel of lights. For example all lights flashing 5 times would be a right motor issue, while panel flashing 8 times would be a control system fault. Call if you like,
