The IRIS Tutor is one of the most underrated addons for MSFS. It flies so magnificently. It's one of the rare addons in MSFS that truly feels like flying.
I was halfway through EFT when the Tutor was introduced. It wanted to fly so much compared to the Bulldog. First glide circuit I ended up pointing down the runway at 1000ft having turned waaaay too early! Fun to land on that springy gear in a crosswind - you don't want to be fast else you'll just bounce sideways! Thanks for the memories!
The free-est moment of my entire life was flying the tutor out of RAF Cosford, its such a beautiful aircraft and it feels really good. I cannot wait to get this add on!
@cgaviator unfortunately I've only had the pleasure of a single flight in the plane but I'm looking at several career prospects surrounding aviation so hopefully I'll have tons more flights
You’ve videos are awesome! I’m currently renovating my house and when it’s done the wife’s agreed to let me get a high end PC and hopefully VR and then I’ll be spending a lot of time going over your videos. Thank you
Had my first air experience flight in one of these. Flew out of Kinloss - great place. Then onto the Bulldog out of Inverness for a bit of low level recce.
Just watching this as I have a job interview at Yeovilton for a flight trainer assistant in a few hours, they use Tutor's there, so thought I'd better do some research! :) :) :) Thanks for the vid!
I know this is just a sim but it feels weird seeing it from the right hand seat because as a cadet I was always in the left seat and most commonly at Benson. Great video
Good question! I had a little google and this seems like a good answer: Most airplanes have an impulse coupling on the left mag only. During engine start, the ignition key grounds out the right mag, so only the left mag provides spark. The timing of the spark from the left mag is retarded (later than usual) during engine start so the engine will start easier.
Currently doing UAS flying, and its unfortunate to see the shortcomings of this module, but a really good aircraft to fly around. Would be interested if this gets more developed as time goes on, adding TAS & FLARM, working GPS, updated textures and sounds, and an EHSI for instance.
I’ve got the Rift S as it was a reasonable price. If I were to buy another, I’d be tempted by the Quest 2 as I hear you can link it to PC as well as being standalone. The other options are a tad expensive and would likely max my PC out!
I flew grobs when I did my special flying award with 727NAS. A quick question, when you do your engine checks (ie 7mins in) do you do those checks on the Hawk? Pull to the side and test the engine? Or is it because its a piston engine you need to check it pre flight?
So after watching your video i decided to try it out and i bought it. I'm having trouble starting it up, the Prop rpm and mixture levers won't budge meaning i can't start it
Interesting. You sure you’re not in pause? Have you got HOTAS and have you checked there’s no conflicting axis assignments. Do you have a similar issue in other variable pitch aircraft? You could try reinstalling.
@@cgaviatorI'm not in pause, i feel like it maybe the fact that I'm on xbox and using a controller, but then again, when i use any other prop aircraft and start moving levers everything works, so probably just an issue with the aircraft. A bug.
@@cgaviator quick update, I've found the resolution, in every other aircraft the levers controls are select the lever and then Right stick up down, on the grob how ever it's select LT or RT
It is... its because its easier to transition from the tutor to a fast jet like the Hawk T1/2, or a helicopter for example. all your throttle and stick controls are where they would be on a fast jet/helicopter.
@@jacobprescott396 Interesting. A lot of my early flying practice was informal and in the right hand seat. Maybe that's why I've always preferred that throttle and stick layout.

Totally agree! Need to spend lots more time in it!
One of my favourite memories flying this aircraft from Woodvale as a cadet. Loving the channel. Thanks.
Thank you 👍🏻
…great little refresher. High, best, cold. 😀👍🏻
Like riding a bike! 😅

This sim is great for those with experience as well as those who haven't. I constantly have small flashbacks about techniques I've been taught!
i think ill gonna get this first then the bulldog. Thanks for sharing! very well done!
Thank you! It’s a great little aeroplane!

It’s a great aeroplane and modelled well in the sim - I always enjoyed the Tutor

Great to hear! And well done convincing the wife! I tend to ask for forgiveness rather than permission! 😂
I’m not brave enough to try that!!
@@davenottingham3254 haha!
Another useful video. Thanks very much. Keep ‘em coming, I’ll keep watching.
Great vid! Learnt to fly in the civvie G-115 (fixed prop). Great aircraft, the MX-5 of GA!
Agreed!

I need to do a flight from or to inverness I think! Excellent area to fly!

Lol, this is quite an old video but hope it was helpful. The tutor is a lovely little aircraft!
Thank you for this, UAS student
My pleasure, but please don’t use it for real flight training! 😂

Yup, I normally use the left 👍🏻
aaaaand that's AEF content sorted too. Nice!
Lol, eventually Hoping to do some spinning in this next!
Thanks for the good video. Would add a bit, if you'd also explain why you start the plane with just one mag, and so on. Cheers

Maybe some shortcomings but one of the best models available. Who needs all the electronic wizardry anyway!? 😉
Glad I found this channel! Do you fly using VR or track IR
How did you find the channel out of interest? And I use Track IR but I'll be plugging my VR back in this weekend I reckon!

It's a piston thing! The only engine checks required for a jet is at max on the runway.

Where do you get your checklists from? I've had a look and can't find any online.
My own copy 👍🏻
