The officer jumped on the car due to something called "fight or flight" if you don't know what that is... He made a split second decision to either continue pursuing the suspect or letting the suspect get away... Obviously he chose to keep pursuing as that is required by his job... He can get fired if he doesn't continue to pursue... Also pointing a gun is not him actually going to use it... It's for intimidation and for getting him to try and stop without anyone getting hurt... Now if the suspect does intend to hurt the officer.. usually it is followed by a warning to stop what is harming the officer... Followed by returning what was received (for example returning fire if shot at).
This is the opinion/ comment I'm looking for. It was this officer's choice to climb onto the car with someone in the driver's seat, with the car in gear, refusing to stop, & refusing to open the door I've read this story before, but I dont remember what started it. What I do remember is the cop told her to get out of the car & she ignored him & kept driving. At worst he could have shot at her tires. At best he could've reported she got away & let other units catch up with her. Which, from this video you can see they did just that, anyway It would just be good to know the original offense that started this, thats all. I hope its something like a report that there's a gun in the car, or fleeing from a crime. Not something stupid like a speeding ticket or slow-rolling a stop sign
