What a great video!!! My 10 months old baby swallows everything that gets into his mouth without chewing it up 🙄 He is still breastfed but we’ve started to introduce solids more than 3 months ago and even though he is now very interested in everything his parents eat (and tries to dig into our dishes all the time, which is a good sign of „attraction” to food I guess) he has problems with foods that are not pureed, because he swallows them as soon as they get into his tiny little mouth (and sometimes even chokes 😭) I’ve just read about „putting food on the future molar gums” but it was difficult for me to picture how exactly to do it and this video really helped! You’ve also explained a lot of this whole process of learning how to chew and introducing different textures in a really interesting and reasonable way ☺️ Thank you so much! 💗
Thank you so much for this information. I have a 10 month old and she has been on purées her pediatrician said it was ok to advance to thicker purées. I’m so scared with finger foods for the fear of chocking but know this is a skill she needs to learn. This video provided me with very nice and clear information on how to achieve this. I have a 6 month old and I’ve read on baby led weining, and I wanna give him a wide variety of foods but I don’t want him to choke, he doesn’t have teeth but people still recommend foods like banana and avocado, still... he prefers to swallow rather than “chew”
Apparently those teething biscuits have been discontinued. I am not finding the old style biscuit that melts slowly Or has a nice thick shape like the one you show here. Do you have any recommendation as to an alternative product? Thank you so much.
My baby don't take any solid food even rice in her mouth even she is 14 months now but don't tak anyting if I give her forcefully in liquid form porridge anything else she vomit at once at the same time while eating- What to do ;:::

Hi Tina, if you're concerned about choking, please consult with a speech pathologist or occupational therapist who specializes in pediatric feeding. Kids who linger on purees into the 9 month are at high risk for developing a feeding disorder. We want kids to be managing hand-held safe soft solids by this age. My 15 month old won’t give anything a try and is so used to just swallowing foods that he hasn’t transitioned from thicker purees to chewing foods or even finger foods. Anything I remotely bring near to his mouth he instantly turns his head the other way in denial. Im so stressed out over him not learning to chew his food
Please ask your pediatrician or physician to refer him for a feeding evaluation. You'll find so much support once a professional determines why he is having trouble.
I am in the same boat with my almost 20 month old. I see your posts are half a year to a year ago. Did your babies start chewing eventually and what did you do or did they just start on their own. Please respond. A stressed mama
What would you recommend for kid that has a developmental delay and some oral motor weakness? She is not chewing foods and mostly sucking. She is 2;7 and mom does mostly just purées, trying to increase softer solids. Recommend chewy tubes? Language is very low, we are working on switches too. Thanks!!
